Pretty good food and quick lunch service. Slightly pricey compared to local competition, but we are only talking a buck or two. They offer a MacDougall menu selection. My wife and I really like the chips and salsa bar. I’ll definitely eat here again.

I have been coming to Sonoma Taco for several years. Their food is awesome! I also like that you can feed your children for free — one child per paying adult. I recently discovered that the best time to come is lunch time. The food is always consistent. Had ordered food to go at dinner time and was very disappointed! Had ordered the crunchy tacos(which is what has been my favorite for lunch). Was expecting the same quality for dinner. Instead it was soggy taco. The cook hadn’t even bothered with cooking the tortillas ! Lunch time I will give them 5 stars. Dinner time 0. 3 stars a fair average.

Been going here for as long as I can remember! I don’t live in the area anymore but every time I am back in town going to the Taco Shop is always a must!

My husband and I went here yesterday for our first ANDLAST time for lunch. It was the WORST $ 32 meal we ever had. SERIOUSLY, save your money and go to El Patio on Stony Pt where we usually go. So… they forgot sides that we paid for and to put forks in our to go bag(which they keep behind the counter). I was beyond bloated with a terrible stomach ache all night long(how fresh is their food???) The portions were very small, the taste blah, when I went back inside to ask for a plastic fork, the guy acted like he didn’t even want to give me one arguing that he already put it in our bag! seriously like it was a golden fork or something!!! I had to convince him to give me one! Add to that the zero ambiance of the place and no one called our number when our food was ready My husband was ready to go back in there and yell at them for ripping us off and I had to convince him not to. The ONLY positive thing about our food was the horchata which which isn’t saying much. AVOIDTHISPLACELIKETHEPLAGUE! you can do better pretty much ANYWHERE else!

Cannot understand the hype over this place, nor the packed crowd during lunch time. Clearly I ordered wrong. However the burrito I had was bland, tasteless and the meat had a creepy texture. Salsa bar is mediocre at best. For the price I’d rather go to Chipotle as they have organic, fresh, healthy options as well. Not a fan and won’t be back.

Pepper salsa is so good! But my nachos were horrible! Not only did it look horrible and burnt, it tasted horrible. My boyfriend got a chimichanga which was the size of a frozen burrito that you would get at the store and it was $ 11.95 with chips! The girl at the front was super nice but we will not be coming back ever!

Disclaimer: I ate from the vegan menu Sonoma Taco Shop offers, so this is mostly only a review of that. Wow. Not only is this the best Mexican food I’ve had since landing in the bay area from South Texas — where amazing Mexican food is a dime a dozen — it also rocks a separate McDougall menu(oil-free, plant-based and minimally-processed) for us health nuts. When I first saw this I was skeptical; plenty of places have the«image of health,» so to speak, but they don’t usually live up to it. Well, these guys managed to make a Mexican dinner taste mind-blowing, without oil, lard or meat! We got the vegetable enchilada, the vegetable tostada, a side of hefty Mexican rice, and 2 orders of oil-free baked tortilla chips. This was some of the best food I’ve had, and after I ate I didn’t get that usual post-restaurant sluggishness. Serious respect to these guys; they were friendly, the restaurant was laid-back and clean, and the food was 5 stars. Admittedly, I came here for the McDougall menu, and I will be coming back on the regular because of how delicious it was.

Love the burritos and tacos! Been coming here for years, cannot beat the salsa either. Prices are very reasonable and the staff is very helpful.

This is a good spot for a quick lunch. I was here on at 12:30 on a Friday and there was no one here. Good side is that I got my food really fast. I am a standard burrito guy. It was a lot of food. I would like to see it offered with other beans though. I don’t like refried beans as much as I do black beans. The salsa bar had several selections. I like my salsa HOT and there hot was pretty mild but still tasty. I would recommend for a quick Mexican food fix at a reasonable cost.

Above average food that is served quickly with a smile. They have a great salsa bar(which is a must for me) and pretty delicious meals that are fairly priced. With that being said, prices have been going up but you can still get some great bargains on the menu. I love their black beans as well, which is pretty key to any good burrito.

Hands down, the best Mexican spot I have had. Been eating here the last 13 years?! Staff and owner knows our order and very quickly & friendly come to the table for the meal. Being a regular you see many Santa Rosa city staff and doctors/nurses from the near-by hospital make frequent visits. Needless to say, you will receive the same great food and friendly service every-time. Their salsa bar is to die for, many options to choose; from mild to spicy & hot! Two adults can eat under $ 15 bucks with drinks & chips. Always clean, this place will not disappoint!

Huge rip off. Ten dollars for a burrito with a bite of carnitas in it. First visit and last visit. Too bad I just got a job up the street and this is one of the few places within walking distance. I would have been a regular had it been worth it.

I’m a huge fan of the fact that they use whole beans instead of refried beans. They have a salsa bar too which is pretty awesome. A good place to eat in or take out. One of my favorite places to get a quick bite solo.

I thought I was being modest when I only ordered one taco but I was wrong. They brought me out a heaping plate of meat and taco ingredients generously piled ontop of a mid sized tortilla. That one taco was equal to 3 – 4 street tacos. I had to eat down the meat pile before turning it into a functional taco. Very good none the less. They have two types of home baked chips, with and without oil. With oil tastes better. Without oil is obviously healthier and the taste suffers from it. They also don’t have any specials on «taco Tuesday» since everyday is a taco day for them.

Great place! Lots of healthy choices. Their green salsa is tasty. Yummy burritos, the shrimp burrito is great. Not a big fan of the tacos, a lot of meat and you have pay extra for sour cream, chips and salsa, which is a little different.

Love, love, LOVE this place! Been coming here since I was little, and never get tired of it! My favorite Mexican place. My favorite dish is their steak chimichanga. Food is ALWAYS fresh and hot, and very tasty! Their salsa is one of the best around, and chips are always fresh and warm. P. S. For those legitimate service dog handlers/teams out there, they’re extremely service dog friendly! Never had an issue with my diabetic alert service dog from Dogs4Diabetics.

They’re Carnita’s taco salad and Shrimp burrito are my go-to dishes, Quesadillas are solid and nachos are pretty damn good. Burritos are very basic, make sure you know your getting what you want, ask questions, don’t assume. Chips are great, roasted tomato salsa is delicious. Food is always very fresh especially the salsa. I never get sick of this joint.

Healthy Mexican with a varied menu where you should be able to find something to like. Great salsa bar with several selections that go well with the delicious light and crisp tortilla chips. Great vegan and vegetarian options. Whole wheat tortillas are an option on burritos. Only drawback was too much head lettuce on the fish taco.

Food is solid but not terribly authentic(at least for my taste). They have several choices of salsa and a good selection of Mexican beer. It is a really big restaurant, so you can always get a seat. Décor is nothing fancy. Prices are reasonable and lots of parking. If you are looking for greasy Mexican, this is not your place. If you are looking for a clean, relatively quiet place where you can have a conversation, worth the visit.

I give Sonoma Taco 2 stars because it at least seemed clean, if not tasty. My wife and I stopped in. She got nachos with chicken and I got a super burrito with carnitas. What? Chips are extra? I don’t pay extra for bread at a restaurant and I’ll be damned if I should pay extra for a small bowl of chips at a Mexican food restaurant where we’ve ordered two meals. My wife’s chicken tasted like it was simply boiled, what little she could find in the nachos. She said it was very blah. My burrito was a bit shy on meat but really plentiful on rice, the cheapest ingredient there is for a burrito. Not even many beans. And it sure didn’t taste like good carnitas I’ve come to love. It, too, was very plain. And how about some little cups for salsa so I can try to add some flavor to your food? None to be found. It’s like they didn’t want us to have any salsa. That’s fine, I took my entire plate with burrito up and got salsa. At least the salsa had some flavor so it wasn’t a total loss for me. In summation, there are a LOT of excellent Mexican food restaurants in Santa Rosa(and Sonoma County) that Sonoma Taco can’t even come close to. The food is plain boring — it reminded me of cafeteria food where they try to make Mexican food one day and pass it off. Don’t waste your money like my wife and I did.
