Second time here. Ordered the chicken fried rice, and orange chicken. Can you believe they charge $ 9.00 for dried out chicken fried rice??? The orange chicken was just okay. My first time I ordered it seemed to be moister, more delicious. The inside of restaurant was a bit dark, but clean. It’s my 2nd visit, I’ll likely give them a 3rd try… To redeem themselves. :)

The overall ambiance is quite nice and the service is good to great. I prefer late lunches and dinners here. Like all the Chinese restaurants in Santa Rosa, the food is designed to meet the expectations of the audience. Hence, it is fairly tame, so pick something other than the usual fare that is deep fried and too sweet. This is a good place to take a risk and eat something that approaches a real Chinese dining experience and you will not be disappointed!

It’s not the best and not the worst. for a quick take out it is perfect although pretty pricey. I’d say anything we had that was battered and fried was very underwhelming and soggy but the Mongolian beef was very delicious and the chow main was OK. My husband didn’t complain about the rice but he also didn’t want to take any home either. All in all I’m still searching for the perfect Chinese restaurant.

Their crispy noodle Hong Kong style is superb, especially given the price. To me compared to other places where they serve crispy noodles, this place is an excellent choice. The duck is good as well.

Such a hidden Jem ! It looked closed from the outside but right when I opened the door I was excited to have a great experience there ! Which I did, from the atmosphere and décor to the very delicious and reasonably priced family style plates. I was so excited to find a great Chinese restaurant in Santa Rosa !

Royal China has been consistently great for the past 7 years I have been visiting. I am a harsh critic and I love this place! Thank you for being awesome! MYFAV: String bean chicken, combination lettuce cups, Mongolian chicken, walnut prawns, and great egg rolls!

I’ve been coming back for years. Not high-end gourmet, or very ethnicially-true like you find in San Francisco, but one of the better Chinese-American restaurants in Santa Rosa. Good solid value at lunch, includes salad, choices of soup, choices of rice and about 40 choices of entrée including vegetarian. Usually packed with business people and locals at lunch, sometimes a short wait for a table, but very prompt service. Interior is surprisingly upscale given the plain exterior in a strip mall location. Bigger shrimp than you would normally expect, generous portions, sauced well. Shares a parking lot with a sushi bar, Mexican restaurant, Westside Grill, Mary’s Pizza Shack, and a Taco Bell, so lots of choices. They were closed for months for remodel or something, but open again with the same staff.

This is not authentic Chinese food. The dishes we ordered were all extremely Americanized. The walnut shrimp and the Szechuan fried calamari were excessively battered to the point that the seafood was only lukewarm because the batter insulated the seafood.

My Stomach hurts!!! My entire family is sick! NEVERGOINGBACK. Should have listen to our friends when they said their kids both got sick the last two times they went there. Nothing like having food poisoning when your 4 months pregnant!

This place has outstanding service. If you are looking for a super quick sit down lunch, this is your place. The employees are very nice. I’ve been there a handful of times for lunch and the food is always great.

Really a good Chinese place — better than the fancier and higher priced place on fifth street, can’t remember the name. Very courteous service and quick. I had safe selections the sweet and sour shrimp and shrimp chow mien for the first time in but will be more adventuresome the next time. Olycol

This place used to be in our top three Chinese restaurants. Very good food(lousy service) and a bit more costly than other places. I’ve never had a dish I didn’t like here, so we’ve come back here often. The décor is very much like an elegant jazz club, dark purple walls with great lighting scones and artwork. However, we’ve tried to go here three times and it said«closed until further notice.» Not sure if they’re even open anymore. Too bad, because we really liked this place.

Four of us went for dinner tonight and were just so impressed! We decided to have the Hunan family style menu, something I normally don’t do. I’m so happy we did! A brand new favorite thing, Mongolian Beef, something I’ve never really loved, happened. Everything was really nice– cloth table linens, a super clean restroom, perfect pace of service… Hot and sour soup was very good, and it was new to one of the guys, and he really liked it. He’s not into super spicy food so I had reservations on our choice but nothing was too spicy for him. The cream cheese wontons looked elegant and rose above their tired reputation. Then, Mu shu pork. I’m the only one who had ever had it before and I was happy it was delicious. It was prepared table side for us which made it seem very special. The guys would have been happy to make a meal of that, but no, we had more to come! The Kung Pao shrimp was not the usual fine dice, heavy on the celery and peanut dish we’re used to seeing everywhere. Peanuts generously garnished sizable prawns and healthy slices of celery and carrot. It looked upscale instead of hashed together. The sesame chicken was redolent with fresh ginger and pretty black and white sesame seeds. The Mongolian beef was thin slices of rich beef with emerald green scallions, and more delicious than any I’ve ever had before. I can’t wait to go back. I say go here. Just do it.

Trying quit a few new Chinese places to find my favs. This one is in my top 3. We ordered String bean chicken(non spicy), orange chicken, Chicken chow mein, cheese puffs. Everything was delicious. The orange sauce is amazing, and has fresh orange taste, not that poured from a bottle taste. Compared to other places, the string bean & orange chicken are wonderful. The chow Mein is really good & so are the cheese puffs. My only complaints on them are wishing more filling in the puffs, and more veggies other than all the green onions in the chow. Flavors are good though.

We ordered take-out from here last week. The orange chicken was solid. I didn’t really care of the cashew dish or fried rice. The crab wantons were great though. Good duck sauce too. Be aware that none of the entrees come with rice apparently. Order that separately. That would’ve been good to know for our take-out order.

I used to eat here once per week but never again. The food is still ok, not the best but pretty ok as compared to other Chinese spots in Sonoma County. Here’s the thing, the woman running the place seems to be a miserable miser. There are a number of other reviews here that speak to her rude, condescending demeanor. She acts as if she is doing you a favor by letting you dine at her garish and gaudy restaurant. The boss treats her staff as chattel. It also seems as though the staff are quite intimidated by her. Still great service but perhaps it is partly due to their fear of losing their H1B visa status? I wonder how much the staff(virtually all immigrants) get paid? Here’s the kicker, I have a cave in the neighborhood and I usually walk to this place. Recently, at the back entrance to the building, I’ve been seeing a lot of rat traps. Not exactly and inspiring sight when getting ready to sit down for a meal.

I used to come here on my lunch breaks and it was perfect because the food comes out quickly and is tasty, at a great price! You also get a salad and soup prior to getting your lunch– which I love. The only negative is the employees almost try to rush you out ASAP so they can get more people in. It makes sense– but feels so awkward. But the food is great so check it out!

I’ve been hearing nothing but good things about Royal China. i was finally able to see for myself. We came in and were greeted and immediately seated. We perused to menu for a bit and decided on the Royal Dinner for 3. The waitress was so nice and came out with our drinks right away. The soup and appetizer came out and it was AMAZING! The soup was out of this world delicious. it was the seafood soup. it was so tasty and there was a perfect amount for us to each have 2 bowls. The appetizer of Crispy Fried Prawns were perfectly fried and breaded. They were huge and delicious! We asked for hot sauce and she came out within a two minutes and even apologized for the wait. The service was incredible. so fast and gracious and even though they were so fast they did not sound rushed or curt. Then they brought out the entrees: Family Happiness, Walnut Prawns and Royal Fried Rice & Royal Chow Mein. Family Happiness= Bliss. Sooo good! its a combination of chicken, shrimp, beef, and vegetables. Very very tasty! The walnut prawns were so good, sometimes they can be to slimy or sweet. but these were perfect! and they were very large! The royal fried rice was delicious! There was a perfect amount for the 3 of us. the royal chow mein was delicious as well! And anytime anything says Royal, it means combination! LOVETHAT i love to get combination everything! I am over the moon happy about this restaurant. it has everything i love and its made dishes i normally dislike into some of my favorites! and the prices were very reasonable considering the quality of the food and the portions! I HIGHLYRECOMMENDTHISRESTAURANT! Royal China has hands down the best Chinese food you can find within 50 miles.

I am not a great fan of Chinese food, but I always welcome and recognize good flavors, quality ingredients and honest work. I have never been disappointed with my meals or the portion size. While the restaurant itself is not too roomy, it is still bearable. I know you’ll be wondering, based on other review’s, about the little girl going around, but she will not prevent you from enjoying your dinner. Yeah, it’s a little random, but hey– bet she behaves better than the bratty kids of the people complaining about her.
