Lovely service, costumers coming in and out supporting how good the food is, I myself agree, the batter was great chips not too salty just perfect shrimp and calamari rings deep fried just perfect. Thank you Mel’s… Also thanks for the New born Nursing lesson experience.

First time here. Prawns were pretty jumbo and meaty. The batter isn’t to heavy and was a nice compliment to the fish and prawns. The battered artichokes were decent, a good try but we probably won’t order again. The steak fries were huge, but unsalted. Thankfully you can order everything with or without chips. Will try them again, for a shrimp craving.

Take it from an Alaskan Islander, this place is amazing. I had the cod — perfectly cooked and fresh. The fries were great too. Even the coleslaw was great and I usually dont touch the stuff.

I really wanted fish and chips today. Looked on line to see what was close to us in n Windsor. Found this place and we decided to try it out! Owner was friendly and service was fast! She said about 6 minutes and she was right on the money! Batter was perfect and cod was very fresh and excellent! Owner said we should try eating it there instead of taking to go because it is the best that way. We needed to take it to go and I am still super happy with what we got! Will definitely go back and try other items!

Lame experience yesterday. I wanted to try somewhere new, so I looked through Unilocal for some ideas. Mel’s got generally good reviews, so although they’re located a bit far from home, my BF and I decided to try them. I called in my order and went to pick it up. I was handed one bag that was filled sideways and very unwieldy to carry. I assumed everything was in that bag. I arrived at my BF’s house to find that there was no coleslaw, no tartar, no vinegar, no ketchup, and no napkins. We paid over $ 18 to eat naked fried fish and plain fries. What a bummer! So this morning, I arrive home to a voicemail on the house phone that I «forgot my sauces». I was not given any sauces, nor were there any«self serve» condiments in the lobby, so how could I forget them? It is a restaurant’s responsibility to make sure all of the necessities are in the bag they hand to their customer, especially a new customer. I won’t be going back, even though the naked food was OK, so it probably would have been delicious with all the fixin’s.

Everything on the menu is good! Prices are very reasonable for seafood these days. Calamari rings and clam strips are both soft and tasty, never hard or rubbery like some places. Make sure to order extra slaw because you’re gonna want it!

Great little place. The fish was fresh and crispy, the clam strips were amazing and the zucchini was out of this world.

OK after reviewing fish I had been craving it. Got Mels last night. So strange because this is the first time the fish was so greasy. Never had that happen before, and the coleslaw was amazing and had a nice sweet flavor with the always fresh veggies. Even the fries we seasoned and flavorful. So I will say a mishap on the fish, and a nice win for the slaw and fries. They we’re so busy, they we’re packed inside and out. So they are getting a pass for the fish since I never had a bad batch before. The tarter sauce was really great as well.

This true«Hole-in-the-Wall» joint serves up great and consistent fish&chips. The fresh fish is lightly battered. The fried prawns and fish tacos are delightful. The homemade tarter sauce is the best ever.

Good enough. Cape Cod. In Rohnert Park is better. Shrimp were small one under cooked. But the price was pretty good.

Excellent batter-fried Alaskan Cod fillet, certainly for the price. Skip the clam chowder. It’s just so-so. Everything else we sampled was pretty good. But next time, we’ll just get the fish & chips.

I love this place although I always seem to get a hankering for the best fish and chips on a Monday when they are closed. The owner and staff are a joy to visit with or just watch while waiting for order. Consistently good food. Have been coming here about 6 years now and my husband’s family have been coming even longer. They are the best fish and chip shop in several counties. I consider myself a bit of a snob when it comes to fish and chips… fresh oil not too hot. Fish not over or under done etc. chips just as important as the entrée. I am impressed with this place and would highly recommend it!

I have been coming here for several years, and I introduce as many people as I can to this place. The fish and chips are wonderful and have been met with the approval by my east coast friends, who I’ve known to be very critical of West coast fish and chips. My personal favorites(and reasons why I return as often as possible) are the fried mushrooms and clam strips. It’s a small shop with a small crew, but big on satisfaction in my book.

Can’t believe I have never been to Mel’s! Ordered the 2 piece combo fish & chips. Great price for the amount of food that I received. Yummy from the start & count even finish my fries. Cod cooked perfect. Oil used is fresh & fish was golden brown. They make their own ranch dressing so be sure to ask for it for dipping. I will be back. They have small outdoor seating. They are in a very small strip shopping center.

Came here after class one day and the food was awesome. Mel’s is a smaller place in a tiny strip of businesses. There were a couple families when I got there but they sat outside. The inside has the counter where you order and barstool seating that faces out towards the parking lot. I ordered the prawns and chips to go. Now normally I’m wary of ordering prawns because some places like to try and pass off small shrimp as prawns, luckily however this was not the case. The prawns were bigger in size and five came with the Oder. They were perfectly fried and the batter was crisp and light. The prawns themselves were sweet and flavorful. The chips they were served with were steak fries and they asked if I would like salt on them. The prawns and chips came with cocktail sauce and a side of coleslaw. The cocktail sauce was good with just the right about of heat to it but the coleslaw unfortunately was a little too sweet for my taste. I really appreciated the service as well. Both the woman cooking my order and the cashier were very polite, warm, and friendly. I will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to my friends.

Great things do come from small places. Tried their appetizers and they were good. But their clam chowder was really good — as was their fish. Hot and crispy! And served in large portions. The next time I go, I would order their clam chowder and 2 side orders of fish. The chips were good, but seriously, the soup and fried fish were the best items and I was so full, I couldn’t eat the chips(fries). The prices are very reasonable. A pint of chowder was $ 4.99 and three pcs. of fish with chips was $ 10.95. I guarantee that you’ll be stuffed and very satisfied. I liked this place a lot! Try it!

The deep fried shrimp might be their best dish! Large generous size prawns fried to perfection!

Went to grab a quick bite to eat for lunch I got a 3 appetizer combo for $ 5 Fried calamari, mozzarella sticks and jalapeño poppers. The food was deep fried right after ordering so it was hot! The food was amazing the the service was great. There is a small bar counter if you wanted to eat there but I got mine to go

Good good, fried to perfection and the price is right. What I don’t really understand is this: There is very limited seating here, so I imagine they get a lot of take-out business, and so my question is: Who is ordering deep fried food to gp? It will lose all its crispiness on the drive home!
