I had a very pleasant lunch experience here. They have a vast lunch special menu with very reasonable prices. The food tasted pretty spectacular. However it was so damn hot. Like straight out of hell fire hot. I’m not talking spicy — the temperature almost melted my face off. Also the pieces of veggies were humongous and it was awkward trying to manage the entire piece in my mouth or saw them with a fork.

Worst. Thai food. In Santa Rosa. Ever. Super dinky dinky proportions. I ordered a tofu pumpkin curry dish and there was literally two very small pieces of tofu and two very small pieces of pumpkin and only about one third cup of sauce. I have never seen such small portions of ethnic food in my entire lifetime of growing up in Santa Rosa. It was not even very good food in terms of taste. It’s really unfortunate, the location is nice.

This is just an update prompted by recently eating here again after some time and shortly after having been to two other Thai places in the area. This is probably my favourite Thai place in the county, although Thai River in Petaluma is pretty close. In addition to things I mentioned in my prior review, which are still valid, I want to note that their Pad Thai is outstanding, unusually wonderful for what is often a heavy, sweet, one-dimensional dish. Theirs(like Thai River) has a wonderful complex balance of sweet and savoury and is quite light. Their coconut soup is outstanding, also, lighter and less thick and heavy than most others I have had, with a wonderful balance of coconut, lime, galangal, savoury with hint of sweetness and spice. Also, their Thai Iced Tea is consistently the best for one who likes it just a little less sweet since it is often at most places a little too sweet and milky. They also are wonderful with vegetables — these are plentiful, fresh, and cooked to a perfect level — not overcooked, as is common, or undercooked.

This place is great! The food is really good! The location might throw you off but it is really a great place. The service is always really good. And the motel that is behind it seems sketchy but it isn’t it’s fine.

If you like SEA Thai but you are looking for more traditional Thai food, this is your place. BYFAR, the best Thai in town. Fresh, flavorful, and interesting flavors. Drunk noodles were delicious. Great curry. Service was slow but the place was packed. Will return again and again.

We were here for a conference and this restaurant was recommended. We decided to give it a try and was not disappointed. We came for lunch and was seated right away at around 12 noon.(Minutes later, other conference people arrived and the place became packed by 12:30 p.m.) We ordered Tamarind Fish(Tilapia) and Pad Si-Ew. Overall, the food was delicious. Their hot tea was«loose tea» versus a teabag, so I liked that. We were in and out of there within 70 minutes. Plenty of time to catch our next conference session at the Hyatt.

Started with the sampler app plate and wow — it had everything! Spring roll, tofu, chicken satay, cucumber salad, prawns, and more with several dipping sauces. We had a filet mignon salad(too spicy for my husband) house fried rice and duck — everything was fresh and flavorful. I had a nice Pinot(by the glass) that went with everything. We were out of there for less than $ 100 and take out containers were earth-friendly. .always a plus in my book.

After hours of flying and spending«quality time»(and by quality time, I mean, long layovers) at airports, the only thought I had when I finally landed in Santa Rosa was finding a place to eat and then call it a night. I usually snack in between flights and don’t like to eat meals when traveling. I, of course, Unilocaled and bookmarked a bunch of places nearby Hotel La Rose, where I was staying. If you do stay at that hotel, this restaurant is walking distance and just around the corner. I was definitely exhausted by the time I got to the hotel and settled into my room that I decided to just get food to go. I didn’t bother checking if this place had a take-out option, which it does, and decided to wing it. The place is small, cute and cozy. It wasn’t crowded for an early Friday dinner. I didn’t see anyone at the front at first but was greeted immediately when they saw me. I looked over the menu and placed my order. The woman who helped me offered me water while I sat and waited. I never downed a glass of water as fast as I did then. Before leaving, she asked me if I needed utensils and added several utensils and napkins in my to-go bag. The food was quite delicious and perhaps that may have been my empty stomach talking. I got the fried calamari rings, rama king with chicken, and a small order of rice(not included with entrees). Dude. I swear I inhaled that order of calamari rings. I didn’t like the side sauce that came with the dish, but I did dip the rings in the rama chicken. If you haven’t had rama chicken, the sauce is like creamy peanut butter with a little spice. There was plenty of steamed vegetables in that dish which I enjoyed. I didn’t finish the small order of rice, so it could be a good size for two people. Honestly, I wasn’t planning to order that much because I needed to fit into a nice dress the next day. But I’m glad I did.

We came in without a reservation on a Saturday night for a table for four. We only had to wait a few minutes to be seated which was a blessing because we were STARVING! Service was not the best, but they were doing what they could for a busy Saturday night. They seemed short staffed at only two waitresses. I tried to be sympathetic but i would have liked that second beer :/ So the food was amazing. We had the summer rolls, which came with tofu, chicken, and shrimp. I wished i had taken a picture– the presentation was beautiful and lots of fresh mint and cilantro. Got the green curry chicken and it was tasty– not too sugary. We also got the chili basil pork which had the right about of spice. Great flavors, and again not too sweet. We finished everything on the table. Prices were just a touch higher than most Thai places I’ve been to– but I wouldn’t let that hold me back.

This was my first go round here after years of being on my «to try» list. Service was friendly and efficient. Wine menu is good for the area especially for wines by the glass. Decent prices and fair selection to chose from. Beer looked slim, but not an issue for me. I noshed on the crispy corn cakes for an appetizer. After all the reviews on the dish I had to make it happen and so glad I did. Not what I was expecting at all. Actual pieces of corn formed in a party, fried and served with a sweet sauce much like what is found on cucumber salad. Although fried the dish was light and packed a flavor punch. Also had the drunken noodles with chicken and eggplant lover dishes. Both delicious the medium spicy packs some heat but not so overwhelming it takes over the dishes. Eggplant was cooked perfectly with just enough softness yet still slightly firm. A great spot in downtown; definitely worth another go round when craving some Thai.

The food is really good BUT this being my first time here I will have to go back and give it a re-try. Ordered a mild/medium salmon curry and chicken pad Thai. I took a tiny sip of the curry it was so spicy I actually went outside to hack/cough. Luckily my boyfriend loves spicy so I was only left to eat the pad Thai which was delicious. Will go back to try again as long as the curry doesn’t kill me!

Khoom Laana is one of the top Thai establishments in Sonoma County that my family and I enjoy. The place itself is dimly lite but cozy. Most of the dishes you can add tofu making this place vegetarian friendly. The dishes which impressed us were: garlic lover which has a nice slight garlic flavor; eggplant lover, the eggplant pieces are very soft and almost melts in your mouth; and chili basil, very strong basil. The drunken noodles is also recommended. The dishes themselves are not large which means there will be no leftovers! The service is friendly and not slow. I’ve came here with a large group and the dishes just keep coming and coming! I almost forgot what we ordered! If you are in the mood for some quality Thai food, this place will not disappoint.

I’d give it 3.5 stars if that were an option, but alas it is not, so I’ll round up to 4. Nothing was truly bad but there were a couple of areas that could use some improvement. I got one of their lunch combos; yellow curry with crispy spring rolls, rice, and salad. The salad was alright. The dressing reminded me of pesto, which I loved, but a little more of it would have been nice. Spring rolls were smallish and also seemed to contain basil, which happens to be my favorite herb, so no problem there. They come with a little cup of sweet sauce and crushed peanuts for dipping– delicious! Rice was in an unusually small portion and the outer layer of the ball was beginning to congeal, likely signifying that it had been left out for a few minutes prior to being served. The yellow curry was fine. Not awesome. Not terrible. Fine. I had ordered it medium spicy, you see, and it came mild and not very hot temperature-wise either. Other than the heat factor, it was well seasoned but I do like curry to have some kick to it. It was also a smaller portion that I’m used to, and, coupled with the tiny helping of rice, ended up leaving me less than full. They garnished the plate with a little pile of sauteed veggies: broccoli, pepper, onions… and I thought that was a nice touch. I dumped them in my curry to give it more bulk. My friend got the fresh spring rolls. He let me try one and they were excellent. That peanut sauce… Insanely good! I wish I could buy a bottle of it. The meal cost me $ 12 plus tax– not great for a lunch special. The one at Ginger Thai in Sebastopol is only $ 9 and they give you so much curry I always end up bringing some home. Service was decent. A little slow but we did get water refills.

I was teetering on this review and rating due to my experience. Came in for dinner with my family during a short spring break getaway. Ordered up the lettuce wraps(second dish was tasty — I’ll get to why we had a second dish later), yellow chicken curry(my daughter devoured it), pad see ew(my son loved it), garlic sauce shrimp(great sauce), pad thai noodles(good), mango with sticky rice(delectable), and coconut tapioca pudding(ok — a bit glutenous). Now the reason why we had a second dish of the lettuce wraps… I put together my wrap and added additional cilantro and mint leaves with the peanut sauce. I took a big bite and was very happy with the initial taste… I then looked down on my plate only to find a tiny black slug moving across the plate. I showed my wife who gasped and my kids pretty much put their wraps down. We signaled one of the staff and they looked pretty shocked and removed my plate immediately. They came back to take the lettuce wrap plate away and apologized… We got another plate shortly and this time it didn’t have any little crawly friends. I was a little hesitant, but didn’t want to make a big deal of it. Unfortunately. I couldn’t stop thinking about it throughout the meal. My second disappointment was when we received the bill without any comped items. I think the classy thing to do would have been to at least comp a dessert(or better yet, the lettuce wraps). Will not be back even though all the dishes tasted great.

Ate here on a quiet weekday. Service was fine we didn’t have to wait too particularly long for anything. Full staff even on a slow ish day. I don’t set my standards too high for thai food and so was pleasantly surprised by the food quality. The food was just the right amount of flavor as opposed to just being hot and overwhelming the flavor. Nicely done, and by no means common with thai restaurants. i had the special-lamb potsickers with rice. Excellent. My vegetarian partner went with veg pad thai. Also delicious. Salty lemonade and thai coffee to round out. Best meal I’ve had in Santa Rosa so far. A well earned 4 stars.

Yet another amazing spot for Thai food in Santa Rosa! We are so lucky! This adorable little spot is located in the heart of railroad square and is set up perfectly for a rainy day. We sat at one of the tables by the huge front windows and were able to watch people walking by, Christmas shopping and enjoying downtown Santa Rosa. The food was exceptional and they do offer some unique Thai dishes that I hadn’t seen before. Their drunken noodles were so good and you could tell that everything was made fresh to order. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Overall great atmosphere, friendly service and authentic and tasty Thai food!

I got take out and found the drunken noodles to be very tasty but was totally confused by the spring rolls. They were filled with alfalfa sprouts, romaine lettuce and tiny shrimp. The drunken noodles on the other hand were very good, spicy and flavorful. I got mine with perfectly fried tofu. The woman who took my order over the phone and accepted payment when I arrived was very polite and the restaurant seemed to be thoughtfully decorated. Maybe the secret to a good experience here is to stick to the entrees?
