I had a knee replacement 2 ½ years ago. I have had nothing but pain since. I was referred to a pain management doctor who sent me to an orthopedic doctor who showed me that my ligaments had not been adjusted during the surgery and that my lower leg is unstable because it actually moves sideways, in both direction, thus causing inflammation and pain, worse at night when I am trying to sleep. I am told this knee replacement needs to be replaced AGAIN… I am very upset to have to go through this ordeal.

Has replaced my hip and knee. Both are doing great. Staff is exceptional, his assistant and PA always get back to me promptly. In addition, the radiology techs are wonderful. I’m a fan.

I have just returned from my 2nd total knee replacement from Dr. Howe — right knee 2 years ago and left one this week and I can’t say enough about how fast my recovery was, the very effective pain management and responsiveness of his office staff. After the first day I was up and walking with close to my regular gait and flexion was 100 degrees when normally it would have been less — especially after just one day. I highly recommend him and his very professional staff, plus the staff at Memorial Hospital. Bill Edelen

Dreadful«bedside» manner, arrogant, keeps every single patient waiting at least 45 minutes and then spends ½ of the office visit talking about anything but your problem… surgical skills may be good but I won’t bother finding out! Avoid like the plague

I had the same experience as the person above me-down to the exact amount of time spent waiting. The only difference was, I wasn’t smart enough to leave. The second time I went for pre-op, I waited 50 minutes again. You will never get to speak directly with a person when you call. Always are referred to a voice mail and at their mercy when /if, your call is returned. While in pre-op at the hospital, I made a comment about wondering if the doctor was on time. The nurses said«slow?», he goes so fast we can’ t prep the patients fast enough. He is really fast. There’s another red flag. I qualify for a temporary handicap hang tag. My husband went to the office to pick up the form and waited 45 minutes. Off to the DMV, another 45 minute wait, only to find that the office gave him a form from 2010 and it needed to be AFter 2011. Next day back to office to have new updated form filled out. Another 45 minutes. Another 45 minutes at DMV only to find that when they filled out the form, he didn’t put his license number on it. Now waiting for a return call with the number to go back to the DMV for the third time. I bet they will be more efficient at completing the insurance forms. My physical therapist had some concerns and communicated them to him, four days ago. To date she has had no response. Do I recommend? Only if your life is very boring and you have nothing else to do and no other surgeon to see. I cannot say anything about the other surgeons who practice with him, but they all seem to share the same office staff. Birds of a feather…
