One of my favorite places to go for lunch and dinner. Excellent food, excellent service, not to expensive. This place is delicious! Try any kind of burrito with the red sauce on top!!! They will know what you’re talking about when you order it!

We went for my moms birthday today and they had a table with a reserved sign the waitress asked us to sit so i thought the people did not showed up, so we sat at the table order food. oh by the way the food was OK not the best. What got me upset when the waitress gave us the total she added a surprise to the bill a 19 dollars tip for them. I asked her why, she said it says on the menu on the very back of it, if you go in with 6 or more people they will charged you a percentage on top of you total, the percentage it is not specified on the menu. She was very rude and i told her next time i will take my business somewhere, This was my first and last time, never again. I’ve been to phở vietnam very nice place and the people are nice. they dont do that kind of business with people, i like to give tips but i am not going to be forced to pay if the waitress is rude and the food was bad the time i gave 15 dollars worth of tips was to a waitress in olive garden she was awesome, and the best part is i was not forced to like el charro.

We had a very nice meal the other night. Our food was served quickly and was nice and hot. Delicious! The wait staff is friendly and greets everyone with a smile. We’ll be back for more very soon! If you are in a wheelchair, you may have a problem weaving through all of the tables to the bar. However, I have no doubt the wait staff will happily bring your drinks to a table close to the door. The reason I gave only four stars? Look up. The ceiling could use a bit of cleaning. The vents are soiled and heading toward clogged. Air blows through those vents, above our food. I’m hoping they will be clean next time we visit.

Wanted to find a Mexican place that had a little more in the way of ambiance than where I usually go. Place was packed for lunch, so since I was alone I sat at the bar. You can get a drink here, margarita, whatever you want. But don’t go for the food. Bland, under seasoned and just completely forgettable. Would not go back. The rice, beans and chili relleno all tasted the same.

Good food, full bar and friendly service. Pretty solid restaurant we go a couple times a year and it’s always consistent. 32 oz draft beer makes everything better.

Went there on a whim, nearby. The margaritas are good, salsa tasty, kind peeps. Food basic but fresh! Good pico de gallo! Inexpensive key!!!

Saw the great Unilocal reviews and decided to test this place out. Went for lunch on a Sunday; fairly empty inside but the tables are very tightly crammed in to the dining area which made it hard to get to our table. The Salsa was less salsa and more pico de gallo, which I’m not a big fan of. It was chunky with onions and tomatoes, but didn’t have much tomato flavor. Ordered a bean and cheese burrito and my partner ordered a tostada off the lunch menu. We were pleasantly surprised when the waitress came out with our food just 5 – 7 minutes later. Unfortunately, i took one bite of my burrito and quickly realized why the food came out so fast: they didn’t bother to melt the cheese in my burrito, so I got to eat beans with shredded salty cheese inside a tortilla. This is the first time I’ve ever eaten at a Mexican restaurant in which they didn’t melt the cheese! It was not pleasant to eat and there was a ton of shredded cheese in the burrito. My partner didn’t really like the tostada much either and thought it was bland. I’m glad we didn’t pay dinner prices for the food because it wasn’t worth it. Overall, not a great experience food-wise and we won’t be returning.

The food was fantastic. I ordered the chicken enchilada and chile relleno combo plate. Everything was delicious. The service however was pretty bad. The waitress literally came by only three times: to take our order, to bring the food and to give the bill. Didn’t check in to see if we needed anything any other time. I didn’t even get a chance to order a second drink because she just handed us the bill without asking if we wanted anything else. She was very nice but not attentive at all. In full disclosure it was very busy and so maybe they were understaffed. The food was good enough that I would try it again because maybe the bad service was just a fluke. But definetly just an «Ok» experience the first time around.

Yum and margarita’s too! We finally found a Mexican restaurant here that has really good food and margaritas. So many of them here only have beer and wine and when you are having Mexican food, we must have a margarita! This was our first visit and won’t be our last. Very clean and cute place, good service and inexpensive tasty food. Husband had a massive carnitas burrito — loved it. I had several a la carte dishes — a carnitas taco, al pastor taco, tamale and a chile relleno. All were tasty for sure. And it’s not often you see tamale as a regular menu item — this was an added plus. Thanks for a yummy dinner!

Our staple for Mexican food. Pretty good but not fantastic beyond compare. Lots of parking, good location.

This food is an authentic Mexican gastronomical experience. I had the fajitas salad which included grilled chicken or steak, guacamole, grilled peppers and onions, and even a very fresh tasting lettuce and tomato salad underneath. The grilled meat had a very tasty sauce and everything is extremely fresh. My partner had a carne asada tostada which she said is «the best I have ever had.» Sylvia, our server, was very friendly and knew all the dishes quite well. Besides the outstanding food, the service was impeccable, the place is very clean the leather chairs are very comfortable. We have traveled a great deal throughout the U.S. and out of the country — this is a top«foodie» experience at a reasonable price.

Used to be one of my favorite spots for Mexican food but lately hasn’t been so good. The refried beans are totally bland along with the rice. I tried a chimichanga with ground beef and there wasn’t much flavor in the meat. Hopefully it was just an off night. Chips and salsa are great!

nice crisp tortilla chips and a fresh mild salsa served when you sit down. ordered food not great but not bad either. mid day lunch. 4 tables occupied. 2 servers on duty. our drink order was taken a few minutes after menus were delivered. drinks took a while,.2 iced teas $ 1.99 each. no refills offered. food order was placed before drinks arrived. tostada was delivered 5+ minutes before other entrée was served. not until we were almost done eating did someone come back to the table to ask if we needed anything. we did, but it was too late. the experience was neither good nor bad.. $ 28 after tip for 2 single serve soft drinks and 2 lower priced entrees.

I just love this place! Great menu options. I am a sucker for Mole Sauce. And I am completely stoked they have that available. Mole chicken… mmmmmmm. They also provide their customers with a FULLBAR. Which is very refreshing on a hot day like today. The have in door seating only. They are fast, speedy, consistent with wonderful customer service. Ohhh…and if you want to spice your plate up, just ask for their special Habenero salsa. They don’t bring it out with every basket of chios. You have to ask.

Honestly I have been here a few times but the last time I went about a month ago the food was really poorly prepared. I got a chicken dish and the chicken tasted like it was old and had no seasoning. I didn’t finish it for fear it would make me sick. Service is fine bit there are so many much better Mexican restaurants in town. I won’t be back.

I stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday a couple of weeks ago. I was somewhat surprised to only see one couple dining in the entire restaurant. That’s not usually a good sign. I stood there and waited for someone to acknowledge me for way too long. The waitress finally appeared and I was finally told to sit wherever I wanted and given a menu. Off to a rocky start. I ordered the chilaquiles rojos and was not disappointed in the food at all. The chilaquiles was flavorful, light, and piping hot. The accompanying beans and rice were also good. The food was so grub that I forgave the slow, awkward start. I can’t speak to their lunch or dinner items, but you can’t go wrong with the chilaquiles in the morning.

Sadly a simple super burrito cannot be done correctly. Huge junks of red tomatoes and salad in my burrito. No sour cream no guac. Which usually may not come with a super burrito. The worst part is I noticed after the first three bites there was no meat. I asked for El pastor and I picked out 10 pieces about the size of a tic tac. Wow… Wow… wow. freaking sad. I hope this place figures out how to make a burrito. Maybe the cook was having a bad day or maybe they didn’t have any bbq pork or carnitas? Either way sucks I will be closing the door on this place. To many other good options.

The best Mexican food ever! Love the fish tacos, taco salad with ground beef, shrimp or fish tostada ceviche, shrimp burrito and camarones al mojo de ajo. The shrimp is always fresh and large in size. Even the chips and salsa is delicious! The staff is always very friendly and definitely fast service. Has delicious pina coladas and margaritas on the rocks. Highly recommend! Support the local business!

I lived in So Cal for most my life and when I moved up here I had difficulty finding a mexican spot that I liked. El Charro is THE spot. My favorite place in Cali.
