Chops is home to a teen club, formerly Lena’s Restaurant for about 30 yrs(I think). While the downtown section near the old train depot has a bad rap because many homeless hang in the area, it is safe. Many businesses are near to Chops, police frequent the area. Chops itself is ideal for 7th-10th graders during the summer and the building is new and very modern hosting a full room of computers, giant TV screen, pool tables, teen club\bar for food, art room, gym. Teens can be dropped off from noon to 6pm. Teens inside are monitored casually, they may come and go as they please. They can sign up for activities also on various days or simply hangout with friends in a safe environment. Most fridays, they have a dance. At times, it is only for 7th-8th graders, or 7th-10th graders. The music booms and strobe lights blink. Security is inside and outside. Dances are 7−10pm. It is important to instruct your kids not leave Chops, just to be safe. The dances are VERY popular. It is best to drop off a group of friends. Glad it is available!
