This review is long overdue, seeing as my child is now 2. First, I have a deep respect for anyone who is a midwife, birth doula or photographer. These people are committed to dropping their life at a phone call REGARDLESS of the hour to be there for their client. They could be woken up from a dead sleep or in the middle of preparing dinner for their family. Whatever it is in they are doing, they drop. Seana has such a calming and caring demeanor about her. She just instantly makes me feel relaxed, which is exactly what I was looking for in a birth doula. We had several meetings to discuss what I wanted/expected from her, and what she needed from me. I’ve seen some reviews for home-birth attendants(photographers, mid-wives, doula, etc.) where people are irate that their birth was almost missed because they had given so-and-so an hours notice. Seana was very clear with me that she needed to be alerted as soon as i *thought* was going into labor, even if it wasn’t actual labor and then she even clearly stated that we needed to call her back at X, Y and Z point — or to have someone call her. This ties into her being able to be there as quickly as possible but not unnecessarily early. It is SO important to feel comfortable communicating with your birth team, I even called Seana about a week from my due date freaking out about the impending motherhood. She listed, she had calming words and within 15 minutes I felt better(albeit silly for my hormone induced melt down). All in all, I am so grateful I found Seana. She was exactly what my husband and I needed to ground us. We had her encapsulate our placenta and she made the cord into this adorable little heart that hangs on my sons wall. Without a doubt she’ll be one of my first calls if we decide to have another child.
