I like Franks better, but the staff here are friendly, helpful and more than willing to help you find things. They have a good stock of just about anything you might need for home projects, and a larger selection of lumber and tools. They also have a pretty good garden section.

Can we give 0 stars?!? I totally would to this terribly stocked and even more terribly run hardware store. Today, I called about buying mesh for our screen door. Yes, they have a roll of screen in stock, the employee replied, after I waited on hold for about 10 minutes. «Or, I would be able to rescreen your door, for $ 16.99 if you can come in, bring the door, and if things aren’t busy, I will do it then and there, within 10 – 15 minutes.» Great. Perfect. Just what I want. I go there, nope, no screen rolls, and no employee that can rescreen it for me. It is like there was a rush on screen mesh rolls, within the 10 minutes that I called and actually appeared at their doorstep. I am not going to wait until TUESDAY for my humble screen door to be rescreened. I took my business elsewhere! How does this place stay in business?!? The shelves are empty, the employees are completely useless and might as well be picking up local litter for the amount of knowledge they have about hardware! They should change their name to «Do-It-Worst» Heritage Hardware or even better, maybe ACE can actually force the owner of this store to do what she is supposed to do and get with the program! It’s a hardware store, for Heaven’s sake, not a brain surgery program!

I needed a few brass plugs, as I walked into Ace Hardware(Santa Paula) I was greeted by an employee who asked if he could help me. I handed him the plug I already had and told him I needed 5 more exactly like it. He found the plugs and handed them to me. I paid and was on my way. The next day when I went to install the plugs I found that they were not the right size. A few days later I returned to exchange them for the right ones only to find out they did not have them. I did not have a receipt and was told I could only get store credit. I asked to speak with the manager. A woman dressed in flowery clothing(not an Ace Hardware uniform) and very short scraggly hair asked what the problem was. I explained the situation to her(Diane), that her employee made the mistake not me and I would like my 20 $. She was extremely rude and just stared at me as she told me no. I understand store policy and the reason behind it, BUT I did not make the mistake. The reason I shopped at this store is because you get the mom and pop small hardware store atmosphere. Up until this point I thought you would get the mom and pop business respect and courtesy as well. Its not about the 20 $ but Diane’s rudeness, lack of respect for the customer, and overall dirty scraggly appearance has ensured that this consumer will never shop at any Ace Hardware. This is how you lose customers to the giants like Lowes and Home Depot.

Employees are courteous and kind, but inventory in this store is fricking ridiculous. I’m usually just looking for simple things like a common pipe fitting. Today I thought I could go there for a simple ¼″ ball valve, but just like my last 8 or 10 visits there, the bin was totally empty for that item. My thinking is… if you’re going to try to be a successful hardware store, then at least stock the items that you have bins for. I’m totally done trying to give them my business. I’ll just make the drive to Ventura where I know the stores will have what I need. I’m really surprised that they’re still in business.

Not worth your visit. Here’s a fact about my last 10 visits to this store: not once have they had what I was looking for. A replacement belt for a belt sander? «We might start carrying them soon.» A pack of shims? «Don’t carry them.» Door thresholds? 14 out of stock, 5 in stock. Screws and bolts? Half the drawers are empty. Water supply hose fitting? «None.» A hardware store can only be as useful as its stock. I understand it’s a low volume store and perhaps that might change if anything anyone ever needed was available. Perhaps the low stock on everything would be more tolerable if at least staff were knowledgeable. At my last visit(after discovering the low stock for myself) a young kid asks if I need help. I tell him I already found the door thresholds and there’s no stock. He sarcastically replies«THRESHOLDS huh? So THATS what their called.» I tell him«it’s on your signage to; try taking a look at it.» This kid had nothing to do but be a jackass and you could see that from across the store. Why come here for that? At first it was a ‘Do-it-best’ franchise; and now it’s an Ace store but none of it has changed the way it’s run. I can only surmise management are the buffoons they appear to be. Somehow they need an outdoor area for plants and lumber they barely carry any of instead of carrying regular stock of everyday items. As much as I hate going to Franks and dealing with them over there, they at least know what they are talking about and carry AND stock items you expect a hardware store to have.

5 stars for personal and courteous customer service. If the item you want is not in stock they will order it and call you as soon as it arrives; usually a few days. This is not a home improvement store with big box items, but it is a very nice hardware store and the staff make it a great place to shop.

This store has a very, very limited selection. The paint supply aisle is barren, the plumbing section has maybe a handful of fittings. I went in looking for a hose a few weeks ago and they had only one! It wasn’t like there was an amazing hose sale. They only had one in stock. Another time, I needed a couple dust masks. They had one! Only one dust mask in an entire hardware store. The staff are super friendly, but whoever’s in charge of stocking really messed up. It’s just kind of inconvenient to not have a reliable hardware store in town. :(

Had to replace a door handle at the business and home and they had exactly what I needed. The manager greeted me, walked me to the aisle, told me what works best for the areas I needed and then sent me on my way. More than informative and helpful.
