First off, the prices can’t be beat $ 7& $ 8 combos !! Some of the best chili cheese on the planet, hands down. For the dude who ordered two plain hotdogs, the buns are sized to hold in all that chili cheese, if you’re afraid of flavor go back to McDonald’s dude. Why would you go to a chili hut n order everything PLAIN ??? It is called the chili hut for a reason ! They also serve an excellent n hardy breakfast. This really is a hidden gem at very affordable prices … one complaint only could you please cook breakfast items in real butter instead of margerian, outside of that this place is a solid 4 stars !!

Hands Down! The Best French Fries I ever had in my entire life. One of the Best Chili Sauce I ever had in my entire life! I love there Chili Sauce more than Pinks Hot Dogs, Original Tommys and The Hat World Famous Pastrami. Chili Cheese Burger are juicy and delicious and so is the Vegetables. Chili Cheese Dog are juicy and delicious too. They also serve Breakfast all day. Great customer service fast and friendly. It’s a definite must try.

Ordered 2 hot dogs and 2 fries. No Chili on the hot dogs. Received the dog on a 10″ oversized bun. The dog was split in half and a bit overlapped such that it stretched the entire length of the bun. They called it a quarter pound, but is was more like 2 ounces. Bun was OK, dog was nothing special. But when a bill for for $ 18.xx arrived(water for drinks), it was known in an instance that the meal was overpriced(by about twice). We made a comment about the high price, but it fell on deaf ears.

They have great service. The chili taste homemade and burger cooked perfect with no pink in the middle and still cooked on the outside. The pancakes tasted like the ones I make at home. Overall a good place for breakfast.

Hidden gem! This diner has clean comfortable booths, tasty, inexpensive food, and our waitress was an angel. I dare you not to sing along to the 50s music. It was a hot day so I tried one of their fresh juices with apple, beet, spinach, and carrot. It was just what I wanted. The kids had breakfast for lunch. My son ordered off the adult menu, and it was less expensive than many city diners kiddie meals, but so much food we wasted quite a bit. Love this place!

If you like traditional chili, this place is for you. Made fresh everyday. It’s not your fancy smancy chili on some food network series, it’s good southern spicy chili served with onions and cheese. For 2 bucks, you cant go wrong. Staff was very friendly. Also their 75 cent tacos are amazing. Hoping the new owners will do this place justice.

Cute place. Went for lunch during Fillmore train layover. I ordered ¼ lb hot dog with roasted jalapenos, onion, relish, mustard — it came on a toasted roll and appeared to have been grilled — delicious! My wife ordered the club sandwich which had HOMEBAKEDTURKEY, great bacon, lettuce, tomato on sourdough. She could barely finish it it was so big. I love this place. The servers are super friendly, the fastest food delivery I have ever seen — and great food. The lunch was $ 12 … We will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. Worth stopping for bfast or lunch if passing through SP.

My boyfriend and I took a motorcycle ride out here because we love chili. I heard about this place through my Ventura County Axxess Card. It’s very cute inside, 50’s décor, but there could have been a lot more. I ordered a chili dog and my BF ordered a normal breakfast(pancakes, eggs, and bacon). He really liked his. Mine was just OK. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t fantastic. The chili could definitely use more… just more. More vegetables, more spice, more flavor. There were no veggies in it as far as I could tell(no onions, corn, bell pepper, etc). Just beans and meat. It was just a tad mundane for my taste. For a place called the«Chili Hut» I would have expected much better chili or perhaps an assortment of different kinds. The fries were very good though! Seasoned well and great with ranch.

Now under new ownership. Friendliest place in town, now with the family Magdelano. This has been my favorite place for years, and still is.

We were in Santa Paula for the monthly Airport fly in(Our car club drove up from Orange County) and by the way, this is a great event, first Sunday of the month. Being hungry we looked for a place to have lunch/breakfast. Driving through historic Santa Paula we saw the Chili Hut Café, and wanted to give it a chance. Great find in my humble opinion(imho). The owner, I guess, Connie helped us right away and the waitress, sorry didn’t get her name was friendly and efficient. It is great to have a person with a smile helping you. I had the chicken fried steak and it was as good as I have had, and maybe superior to all of them. I love chicken friend steak, but so many places the steak is a frozen cutlet out of the freezer. This was great. I will definitely stop back the next time we are in SP

Good home cooking. For breakfast the chorizo breakfast burrito is good as well as the french toast. For lunch the chili burger is very good. In fact I just sold myself on going there for lunch right now. In my experience as a local the service has never been poor or slow. Although, I can’t say I’m sad to see people from LA aren’t coming back ;) but I would like to see this place stay in business… so give them a shot and if you aren’t happy don’t go back.

Inexpensive, good/basic breakfast. Nice place to meet with a friend to catch-up. The owner is very kind, they were original owners, sold it and bought it back which explains the name change. Don’t care for the coffee, but like the breakfast burritos with side of fruit.

This café serves lunch and breakfast according to the print on the windows. Its a tad misleading to call it breakfast and brunch with such a limited menu and no «brunch» style choices at all. The menu is basic American diner/coffee shop standards(pancakes, waffles, eggs, sandwiches, burgers) with the typical California/Mexican twist since they have chorizo and eggs as well as breakfast burritos. My husband and I were there for breakfast and I have to compliment the establishment on their cleanliness because the place was almost sparkling. The décor attempts to invoke a feeling of a 50’s style diner with the counter dining, red and white color scheme and vinyl covered booths and bar stools. Unfortunately, this motif is probably one of the most overused and weakly attempted diner décor schemes and like most of its counterparts The Chili Hut falls short here. Its okay because that era of atmosphere is definitely a «go big or go home» style and most don’t have the heart or passion to really pull it off. I will say that at least they didn’t stoop to the super cheesy pics of Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Elvis and Coca-Cola signs. The staff was friendly, big smiles that seemed genuine and the service was good. The menu is limited to pretty much items you can make at home. The chili was good but tasted just like what my hubs makes at home minus the love; if your establishment’s name is Chili Hut the chili probably ought to blow your socks off. Portions were tiny and for a $ 4 bowl of chili there should have been more than a dainty pile of cheese and onions and a packet of crackers with it. I ordered eggs, bacon, country potatoes with a biscuit and gravy. The gravy(supposedly sausage gravy per menu) was clearly from a bulk restaurant supply jar/vat. Bland, no flavor save the large pepper flakes that were clearly there to convince you that no one poured wallpaper glue over your biscuit. Although, it tasted better than wallpaper glue coming from a long line of classic country gravy makers — it fell sadly short and instantly made me grateful I didn’t order the chicken fried steak. Its pretty tough to jack up bacon and eggs so no points there either. The potatoes were the best thing on my plate and the most seasoned too, however, potatoes should never be the star of any meal. The coffee was exactly what I’d expect from a typical diner — Folgers pre-ground at its usual. All in all, mediocre at best — I could have had the same thing at Denny’s, just not in as clean or friendly of an atmosphere.

Slow!!! Took over an hour to get a simple breakfast. Got a lot of excuses, promises, and ended up being late for a meeting. Bread was cold. Watched the cook scratch his head and continue to prepare food. This place could not get it together. They also claim to be making«home style cookin’» for over 69 years when in actuality this place was called«Smokin’ Joe’s «a year ago. We have no reason to come back.
