Coming here for a book signing recently, I can see why some would think of this area as an empty warehouse space in a desolate part of Santa Monica, but you need to keep in mind it’s what the space CONTAINS that makes it so special. I enjoyed the work by the current artist in residence, Casper Brindle Azimuth who based this work on his love of the water and the environment. Every shade of blue is represented(my personal favorite is Night Depth), whether he is depicting day, night, or a non-descript transcendental time. William Turner himself was present, decked out all in black as he gave a quick run down of Casper’s work prior to the book event. Unlike some other gallery owners I have been in contact with, Mr. Turner appeared very professional, approachable, and clearly wasn’t there to compete or overshadow his special guest speakers. Housed in E1, I would be happy to access this area again. It’s nice to have somewhere tucked away from the rest of the busy city of Santa Monica. Free parking!
