I was walking down the chic little street Montana Avenue and found WEATHERVANEforWOMEN, and instantly fell in L O VE. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and so friendly that I walked out with an amazing Yohji Yamamoto Red Plaid blazer… It is quite stunning on and would recommend this store to any of my friends heading towards Santa Moica to stop in and take a look around. I will be back.

hopping for an upcoming project we’re working on for FMM this week, I headed over to Montana Avenue, one of Santa Monica, California’s best little streets to still find quality, locally owned shops. This week, I discovered Weathervane. Weathervane carries everything from established designers such as Dries Van Notten, emerging Japanese footwear brands like Sou Sou and to local LA artisans like Hazel Brown. As I explored the store, I stop when I saw a woven basket of colorful and black and white bracelets. I kinda asked the store associate what they were and she told me about The Sumunye Trust. Simunye Trust operates exclusively for charitable purposes and promotes and provides a market for artifacts created by African and other artisans from underprivileged areas. Simunye Trust distributes all profits from the sale of such artifacts to support pediatric healthcare around the world, focused initially in Africa. Simunye is Zulu for«We are one.» The set of 7-colored bracelets were purchased for $ 100.00, the black and white sets sell for $ 80.00 at Weathervane. The bracelets compliment our Falling Whistles necklace and we love how the causes align. We love the fact that all the proceeds of these beautiful bracelets go health care in Africa.
