Starling & Sparrow

Amanda is a really, really lovely person and I always look forward to seeing her. Admittedly, this usually happens about twice a year, and I appreciate that she respects my desire for infrequent haircuts and doesn’t pressure/​lecture me to get my hair trimmed more often (which I probably should do!). I also super appreciate that she respects and isn’t weirded out by my no shampoo/​products routine. She actually cares about and is incredibly knowledge regarding natural, product-​free haircare and not just to be trendy but because she wholeheartedly believes in it. She is an interesting, considerate, warm person whom I enjoy chatting with when I see her, which really makes for an exceptional salon experience, even if it only happens twice a year :). And her prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality service and beautiful cut I get every single time. That’s another thing — the cut lasts for months and grows out so well! I know she is especially mindful of this for me as I am an infrequent client but it means a whole lot. I’ve obviously got a pretty low maintenance haircare routine and her fabulous cut makes it all the more simple.
I followed her to her new place from her previous spot, though it is further from my house in Hollywood — she’s that amazing, yes. And whatever, whenever I come here I just make a day of it in Santa Monica… Things could be worse!
Go see Amanda, a great human and wonderful artist. You will enjoy your experience! I feel lucky to have found her.

A great location of Santa Monica, a beautiful interior design, and the only studio in Salon Republic with private patio entrance. They do a great job on men and women, using Davines hair products (I bought some from them too). They always have snacks, drinks, music, magazines, and what anyone can call luxurious service. Carrie is THE GODDESS of hair! Seriously, from cut to color she is the best. I started going to her years ago when she fixed a bad haircut that I got at another salon. She has made my hair look amazing whether it is short, shoulder length, or my current long locks. I have straight hair, but have seen her work her magic on curly heads as well as my straight one. I’m very picky about color and would not trust my base, highlights, and lowlights to anyone else. Most people think my color is natural, which is the highest compliment I can give Carrie.

I had put this under the wrong place, so this is my chance to make it up. I wrote a review for Salon Republic, but it was meant for Starling & Sparrow.
Love the salon and how convenient it is to 3^rd street promenade. You can get cut, color and shop and eat all at the same time! The girls are wonderful, the place is super cute. They do an amazing job with both men & women. The outdoor patio is super cute as well.

Amanda is the BEST organic colorist! No harmful fumes here! The salon is beautiful, parking is free and right next door.
