Have to complain about the service I received today at Scoop on 26th in Brentwood. Bought a blouse on Friday I didn’t know was defective and the 3 employees attacked me saying«all sales are final» I am a Brentwood native and there is not one retail store that would ever treat a customer so terribly. Left shaking

If you love sub-par service coupled with snotty salespeople, Scoop NYC is perfect for you! My irritating experience with this store began when my brother’s girlfriend gave me a Scoop NYC shirt for my birthday. She lives in New York and LOVES this store, and she was very happy to gift me what she called«the most comfortable t-shirt in the world». She mentioned to me that her favorite NY store had just opened a few California locations, and one just happened to be a few miles from me in Santa Monica. The shirt was cute, but a little too big, so I brought it into the Santa Monica store to exchange it. Seems like a pretty simple thing to do, right? The salesperson seemed very surprised that I didn’t have a gift receipt. After confirming twice that I did not, in fact, have a gift receipt, she looked confused and shook her head in disbelief. Then she asked if I knew which New York store it was purchased, and on what date. I said I did not. Just then a manager(I presume) appeared and was briefed on the situation. She also looked put out, but she said«well, we have this shirt in stock, let’s just switch it out». Perfect solution, but alas, they did not have the size I wanted. After reporting this news to me, the manager disappeared to help a better-heeled customer who was clearly going to spend a lot of money, and the salesperson with whom I started tried to slink away as well. I followed her and said«Is that it? We’re done?» She said«Well, we don’t have an extra small.» I said«So there’s nothing else you can do? Store credit, nothing?» She said«nope!» So I said«well, can I at least have my shirt back?» As she went behind the counter to retrieve it, I said, «You know, this is pretty lame customer service.». She said, «Well, you don’t have a receipt!» I said, «Well, most stores would take back their merchandise even without a receipt» to which she responded, «Oh, we’ll take it back, but we’re not going to give you anything for it!» I snatched my shirt and walked out of the store as she called after me in a loud voice«Have a nice day!!!»

I had to buy a top for a last minute event last night. Young lady, Meg, greeted and offered me some assistance. Thoughtful questions, stayed within my budget(great selection of high and medium priced attire), was super attentive without being overbearing. Cannot say ENOUGH about the great customer service from her and all of the salespeople in the store. (I think a certain store in the Pacific Palisades should send their sales force there and learn how its done!)
