Its pretty expensive, and especially if you try to do substitutions! I ordered a chicken breast with cali roll combo plate with no nice and brown rice on the sushi, instead of being courteous and not charging me for the brown rice on the cali roll, they did, even though i got NO nice(which has some monetary value!) It was 50 cents extra and then another 50 cents to substitute one of the salads for a miso soup… so i ended up paying 12 bucks for a meal that should have been under 10, given the quality and portion. You think you’re eating healthy, but at the end of the day… the facts are undeniable.

Good food for a $ 15 lunch. Don’t expect anything extraordinary for that price but you can get handmade rolls for $ 10, which is almost unheard of based on LA standards. Fish and veggies are super fresh. The only thing I’m having mixed feelings about are the soups. They taste a bit sweet and aren’t very flavorful. But aside from that, a great joint to grab a quick lunch on a budget!

Their chicken bowl w/oriental salad is very good, but their sushi is not worth the price because they are not that good. And the sushi was warm like warmer than room temperature the sushi had are always served cold

10000 star rating for their commitment to excellent customer service. I am allergic to shrimp but they went above and beyond to ensure that my food was prepared in a way not to put my health at risk. Thank you.

Looks are deceiving… although it looks good in the picture and all that only cost $ 10(Hand Roll Combo), see cons below: — Vegetables in Salad soggy — Miso Soup tastes like the powder in a bag kind — I got 2 Spicy Tuna and 1 Salmon rolls, they tasted bland, had no flavor — The soy sauce, even the low sodium green one, is extremely salty The only reason this gets 2 stars is because of its big portion size for the price… Unless its the last place on earth serving sushi, avoid, specially this location. I’ve tried Sansai at another location and had a better experience.

For a fast food Japanese place, this place impressed me with its cleanliness, fresh salads and food. Eris took our order and was very kind, gracious and efficient.(see photo). We ordered the Teriyaki chicken bowl, which actually comes on a plate. It comes with the grilled teriyaki chicken over rice and a huge portion of the cabbage salad called Suni salad. We also ordered a fountain drink. I really enjoyed the passion fruit ice tea. I will definitely return here again! Thank you Sansai!

Good value food: salad, soup, rice and tempura for $ 11. Quick dinner, hot food. The service is good. Parking is convenient. Overall, I like Sansai.

$ 10 – 11 dollar mistake for trying a nearby place. Had the 3 philly roll special. The salad was sat at the counter soaking in dressing along with the soggy noodles. What can help is do what subways or chipotle or like a real japanese place and roll the studf infront of clients. The soup tastes really odd and not fresh. And they should make the salads when people order. Prefer rolls where its cut into slices. I should have gotten the 5 $ 20 piece chicken nuggets if I was going to not eat healthy.

2.5MAX! I had the dumpling soup and found the broth to be way too sweet(who loves sweet soup ?) Also I could SWEAR the pork dumplings were Trader Joes, they tasted and looked exactly the same. seriously, even if I’m wrong here, who wants to go out for dumplings of that caliber? The noodle salad was ok, so that balanced out a little, and my friends plates of chicken looked cafeteria average. That said, the place was clean and presentable, location convenient but not enough of a draw to return for me, it’s too bad that was my first impression. I like to go out to eat no matter where it is and feel like there’s at least something special about the place versus I could just be eating better at home, you know?

Oh Sansai, one of our go-to lunch spots for diet cheat days. I have to say I’m pretty impressed with this place as a fast food restaurant. Prices decent, food is decent(Americanized but it actually tastes pretty good), plenty of seating, located in a plaza with Starbucks lol. Honestly, I usually get the udon noodle soup with tempura combo(~$ 7.63) and this is enough to fill me up happily. The noodle soup is actually pretty decent, some days better than others(sometimes a bit too salty) but most of the time it’s a hit. The tempura that comes in the combo consists of two shrimp, peppers and squash? Goes perfect with my soup. Noodle quality is better than most fast food Japanese places– if you love noodles get this here! I’ve also tried the dumpling soup which is also pretty good and filling. My coworkers usually get sushi and salads/chicken combos and they love em. Place is basically like a fast food setup: order, sit down and wait for number to get your order. Parking a bit difficult in this busy plaza during lunch(line can get long around 12:30pm), but overall worth the drive for lunch! Also Starbucks next door so can’t really go wrong with that before going back to work.

Well, I used to like it, and I still like their salad. It is fast food. I would never eat the«steak» after ordering it once… chewy and not very beef like. But the chicken was ok. However the last time I ordered the chicken had changed. I got this white, processed plasticy tasting chicken… the bad taste wasn’t even covered by the spicy sauce. So, I will probably not be returning unless they were to up their meat quality, because their prices are not cheap enough to warrant such low quality meat. Bummer.

Really delicious sumi salad!!! I know no one really cares about the salad, but still… delicious! Also love the Redbull roll!!! Service is fast and friendly, the inside seems fairly clean… I haven’t actually eaten in, I always takeout,

Well, this ain’t half bad! I was actually pretty surprised with the quality of the food here. I’ve been sick(a New Year’s tradition dating back to 1986) this week, so I figured a bowl of udon would hit the spot. Having not eaten much food this week on account of aforementioned illness, I also got the potstickers. Coupled with a fountain drink, it was about $ 12 for my lunch. I am not a huge fan of deep fried potstickers/gyoza, so I’ll skip them next time(the menu didn’t specify and I was too lazy to ask). They’re served with a sweet chili oil/sauce thing that didn’t seem super authentic and was basically like orange jello water + chili flakes. Not too tasty, but I’m sure some people love it. The udon was good! It even came with the kamaboko slices I grew accustomed to eating with my noodle soups back when I lived in Japan. They seem to have omitted the mushrooms from my soup, which was kind of a bummer, as I love mushrooms. Ah well. The chicken was good, grilled, with no overpowering flavors. The little packets of shichimi togarashi were much appreciated as well. While I wouldn’t necessarily call this place incredibly authentic, it’s clean, fast, and the foods is solid. Next time I need soup but don’t want to brave the restaurants on Sawtelle, I’ll be at SanSai.

Came here for lunch today with my colleagues since we were in the mood for a meal with rice. I would say that this place puts forth an effort to deliver as fresh as possible. Especially with a menu containing fresh sushi and salads on display, I would say you should make that effort. Anyhoo, a combo plate can range from $ 7-$ 12 here where you would get a vegetable skewer, rice, 2 salads and a protein of choice. I went with the steak and chicken sansai plate with the above mentioned and it was okay. The steak was a bit chewy but the chicken was on point! The salads are good and the veggie skewer compliments everything. The rice comes as its own side dish and not on the plate which was nice if you were trying to watch your carb count. Place is clean but it does fill up fast during the lunch hour so it’s best to arrive early so you can grab a seat. Free refills on beverages as it is self serve but I opted for H2O which is free anyway. It’s an okay spot, I have no major complaints or praise.

I would call this the Japanese version of Panda Express. If you’re craving some cheap, Japanese-inspired fast food and not willing to risk trying out a seedy hole-in-the-wall-joint, then SanSai is a safe choice. The chicken bowl is decently priced and comes with a choice of salad, which is nice if you need to fill your veggie quota for the day.

Im a sucker for asian food. I’ve decided that I am actually asian. Deep down.(I’m actually half-Ecuadorian, but 1) I dont look it 2) I dont like the food, but dont tell my dad). This probably makes me a bad«asian» because I enjoyed this place, which is probably considered asian american food. But the salmon was cooked just right, the asian salad was so good, the pot stickers were a little too deep friend for me, but overall light, fresh and enjoyable. I would def go here if I was out and needed a place to eat. Nothing to write home about, but it would be worth stopping in if you need somewhere to eat and there is one close.

why is this fast food sushi joint so expensive? came here for a quick bite on a lazy sunday. I got a tempura roll and«sashimi» salad(which i could tell was really just minced up leftover fish) for $ 18. i could have eaten a handful of real sushi at a REAL restaurant for that price. Additionally, the booth seating along the wall was vibrating so much(from the refrigerated drink machine i think) that i got nauseous and had to move to the other side of the restaurant. someone should fix that. On a positive note, the staff was friendly.
