This is an update to a prior review. Dr. Porter is no longer in that particular practice and she does not see migraine patients any more. sigh* There was no prior notice on this change, which was itself a headache, given the work to find a trusted physician. The practice had a temporary physician and confusion in the practice for months. I went back and forth on deducting a star. Dr. Porter is a great doctor. This change should have been better handled for patients by even a mention that she was leaving the practice area.

I took an appt with Dr. Porter knowing little about her. I was pleasantly surprised. Dr. Porter was a little matter-​of-​fact, but she listened well and seemed willing to hear my long asides about various issues I’d had. We scheduled some tests and after the tests, I was going to come in to review the findings, but the timing and distance proved impractical. To my pleasant surprise, Dr. Porter called me and obviated the need for another trip to her office and spent about 10 minutes discussing my reports with me over the phone. This saved me a lot of time and energy, and it was a pleasantly practical surprise to many doctor patient situations where you MUST come in in person for this sort of service. I heartily recommend Dr. Porter and would go see her again without hesitation. She is also very nice, and has a very nice bedside manner.

Dr. Porter ordered a blood test and MRI but I explained I was unable to pay for expensive services right now because of my financial situation. So I didn’t get the MRI but I asked how much the blood test would cost and the doctor said «not expensive, $ 200 at the most». The bill was $ 950. This is totally inaccurate and unprofessional considering I communicated I was financially unable to pay for expensive services.

She is very professional and straight to the point. A little cold and stand offish to me. But she’s ok I guess.

Dr. Porter is a good listener and very helpful. Not intimidating.
