Exceptional service from the get-go. Love the location too — near Third St. and the Santa Monica Pier. A bit on the pricey side($ 40 a day for parking) but that goes with the territory I suppose. Ordered room service one night, and ate in the restaurant for lunch and breakfast. Food was very good. Our waiter was super-sweet and the gentleman that checked us in was professional and awesome!

It is horrible bro. Ocean view is blocked by condos. Parking fee $ 45 a night is a joke. Take care of your goddamn guests man. The room was dated and the shower sucked ass. Get better shower curtains. The hallway was noisy and smelled like a dead fish. Bartender was inattentive. I tipped the bellman $ 20 for his wonderful service. Front desk girls were awesome too from Asia to the manager Jessica I believe. For $ 300 a night or more there is no chance I would return. Step up your product jw or else revenue will shrink.

My stay here was great until I checked my credit card statement… They charged me a $ 275 smoking fee and we didn’t smoke. I was told that the people staying next door to us had complained and they had to filter our room. All lies because we didn’t smoke. I was able to get half of the money back but I feel we were targeted and discriminated against.

This hotel has a great location. It is right on the beach and easy walking distance to 3rd prom and venice. Room was nice with a view. The pool and patio is also great! :)

Really old and uncomfortable hotel for 45,000/night on Marriott points or over $ 400/night. The $ 44/night valet parking charge is pretty ridiculous for its location as well. Left after 2 nights instead of 3 planned nights because the bed was so uncomfortable, room was shabby and looking right into opposite room. Looks like the standards of JW Marriott has gone really down. I intend to switch to the Westin chain, despite being a Marriott platinum elite member for almost 13 years. Front dessert and valet staff are very helpful and friendly; 5 stars to them. Concierge was also very helpful; on my last visit I forgot several things, including my iPhone in the room that he promptly shipped. I think his name was Nick and really appreciated his service. Staff are great and that’s why the 2 star overall rating otherwise this hotel deserves a 1 star. Would rather have gone stayed at the Courtyard in Irvine Spectrum; despite being far cheaper its newer and far better.

Daniel the front receptionist was very helpful! The rooms are nice and roomy. Best prices around the area.

This is a great Hotel! Love that it’s so close the the beach board walk and only a 2 mile walk to Venice Beach. Lots of great people watching and excellent exercise options from walking, jogging, bike riding and the outdoor Venice Beach gym. The hotel also offers great rooms with ocean/beach views and all the staff are friendly and helpful with whatever your needs are. I love staying here when we visit Santa Monica. We walk everywhere and there is never a boring day!

Check-in service was great. Room is fairly clean although there was some spare change on the floor left from the prior guests. Service is dreadful at the bar, however. Very inconsistent and slow.

We came here for the spa/massage package and Lilli was our masseuse. She is an amazing person and healer. We both had a great experience with her because in addition to giving a great massage, she has a positive and friendly that really connects with you. The spa itself is clean, simple, and relaxing. The staff were really nice. Overall, we had a great time.

I went here for a massage. The spa was nice looking but the massage was absolutely bad. I was a like ten minutes late for it and instead of giving the fall hour that I paid for they gave me just 20 minutes of it! After the massage I went to the pool area. There I waited like 25 minutes for a waiter to come take my order. When he finally came the food took another hour to come and it was just 2 cups of beer and a bowl of French fries! When I asked to speak to the manager it took them another 15 minutes to come when finally they apologized and dedicated our order. I do not recommend to go here. The only good thing about this hotel is the view to ocean…

Recently changed my review from two stars because after all I actually had a good time there. Lost one star because when we got there, we encountered a few inconveniences, like a room that wasn’t ready at 6 pm. But overall, I would come back.

Great location, friendly staff but not what I’ve come to expect from JW Marriott. The noise level is ridiculous — can totally hear EVERYTHING from your neighbors — sounds like they were in our room! Also, partial ocean view room could have been significantly better if the bed were facing the ocean rather than the building — small move would make a huge difference. Also $ 40 valet rate per night seems usurious

Well bellow expectations. Stayed Saturday night. Booked on points(45k/night) and the listed rate in dollars was over $ 500/night. The view was bad and the fixtures were beat up /low quality(see pictures). Expected much more for the price. Additionally there was no lounge(not a huge deal, but nice perk for the frequent traveler). Staff was friendly.

I stayed here for five nights even though I’m a resident of So Cal and live only 37 miles away towards the east. I arrived on a Tuesday and checked in to a ocean view upgraded room on the third floor. This JW Marriott is category 9 which is the highest level — I suspect this because of it’s prime location and is steps from the beach, Santa Monica Pier and short walk to the third street promenade. Only valet parking only is offered and is $ 35.00 a night but that includes in & and out privileges. At check in I was given a discount card by the front desk manager for 20% off for any spa treatment so I booked a deep tissue treatment for the next morning. The massage was excellent and I enjoyed the fitness and relaxation room inside the spa which contains a dry sauna and wet steam room. Only con was they are lacking a hot tub. The outdoor pool was on the smaller side but sufficient. I visited the restaurant Cezanne for five mornings for breakfast, where a buffet, continental or Ala Carte options were offered and enjoyable during each summer morning on the outdoor patio. In the evenings enjoy a beverage on the patio off the lobby where you can enjoy your favorite beverage by the fire pit. The staff here is incredible — from check in at the front desk to the valet parking attendants. Everybody was friendly and greeted me throughout the hotel. BTW the hotel is dog friendly too. I would stay here again and recommend this JW Marriott.

Staff is wonderful. Super friendly, super nice. Annoyed paying $ 430 a night but it was close to everything. I was annoyed at a $ 35 parking fee, but when we checked out, they allowed us to remained parked there until 6pm. I was cool with that. It wasn’t worth $ 400 a night, but it was nice. I spent like 5 minutest the hotel that didn’t include sleep. No perks whatsoever. Gotta pay an arm and a leg. The hotel is meant for the higher class of American citizens and not the working class. My 4 stars is because the staff was cool people all around! Next time we will go further inland and walk to the beach.

Decent hotel in a prime location with ocean views. The walls are pretty thin and so I could definitely hear conversations in the room next door and in the hallway. Another down side of these fancy hotels is that it’s valet parking only at $ 35 per day. But I will say I slept great, those beds are super comfy! My friend said she loved their shampoo and bath amenities, and I love the little touches like chocolate on my pillow turndown, slippers, and their coffee set even had the little airplane cookies you get in first class. It’s awesome to be able to walk to the pier, the promenade, and the beach. I’d stay here again(if the company is paying) a little pricey at over $ 349 per night.

The company I work for is based in Santa Monica, so I stay at this Marriott at least once a month for 3 or 4 nights. I’ve been doing that for the last two years, so obviously I like this hotel. The location is fantastic. It’s less than a 5 minute walk to the pier, and once you’re there, everything is within walking distance. I walk to the office everyday, and that’s on Santa Monica Blvd. It backs up to the beach, so there are a few rooms in the hotel with absolutely spectacular views. I was lucky enough to be upgraded a few times to these rooms, and all I can say is, wow. The service is fantastic. The same people are always working the bar, so the staff always welcomes you back with a smile(and booze). The rooms are good sized, but I don’t think there’s anything spectacular about them. The beds are really comfortable and the bathrooms are decent sized. I wish the showers weren’t tub style, but oh well. I’ve stayed at a few other hotels in Santa Monica, and I think this is the best. I’ll continue staying here so long as the quality remains the same.

ROOM(6th Floor — King Room — Ocean View) FRIDGE(No) MICROWAVE(No) COFFEEPOT(Yes — Individual Cups) IRON&BOARD(Yes) TV(LG32″ LCDHDTV) ACCESSIBLEOUTLETS(12) DESK(Yes) COUCH(Solo Chair) FOLDOUTBED(No) INTERNET($ 14.95/$ 16.95 WiFi & Wired) BUSINESSCENTER(Yes) FITNESSCENTER(Yes) POOL/HOT TUB(Yes/Yes) PARKING($ 34 Valet/night) RATE(December, 2014 — $ 199/night) Ok, I’ve been waiting more than 9 years, after staying at almost every Marriott brand hotel, to have a chance to stay at a JW Marriott. It finally happened! I needed to find a close hotel to Marina Del Rey, and strangely all the hotels in the area were upwards of $ 275 a night for Sunday night. Strangely, I found this JW Marriott for only $ 199. I booked it, and then found out that Monday’s rate shot up to $ 475/night! When I got to the room, I found out that because the city was doing maintenance on the power grid, power was going to go in and out Sunday night/Monday morning. No wonder it was so cheap! PROS ** Great Location It’s right on the beach, and even has its own beach access. It’s also less than 10 minutes from the Santa Monica pier. Walking distance to all the restaurants on Ocean Ave too. Hard to beat! ** A/V Media Box There’s a box below the TV that has HDMI, VGA, RCA, and headphone audio in jacks for you to plug your own sources. That’s a nice touch. ** Honest Earth Coffees and Taylors Tea Because you’re in a JW Marriott, you get some nicer coffees and you actually get tea, like organic chamomile and English breakfast. I’ve never had/heard of Honest Earth, but it must be better than the lame stuff in the lower brands. They even come with a couple biscottis too! ** Aromatherapy Toiletries Everything in the bathroom: lotion, soap, shampoo, shower cap, etc. is all Aromatherapy brand. I’ve never really heard of Aromatherapy, but I assume it’s better than the normal stuff in the Courtyards ** Outlets-A-Plenty There’re 7 outlets at the desk, which is where you need most of them. 2 by the bed(in the lamps), which is acceptable, and 3 more around the room. Good spread! ** Mirror Lamp Acts as a Nice Nightlight I usually keep a light on in the bathroom in hotels. Reason is because I get up in the middle of the night to pee, and if it’s dark, I tend to stub my toe or run into stuff. The problem with this is, sometimes the light in the bathroom becomes too noticeable, so I can see it when I sleep(which is a problem). This has the perfect solution. There’s a light in the hanging mirror, which acts as a subtle nightlight, so you can find the bathroom in the dark. ** Dat Bed Tho! Wow! That has to be the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept on! The mattress was somehow soft and firm at the same time, and those sheets were like silk! If that’s what this whole talk about«thread counts» is all about… maybe I need to actually look into that for my own bed! CONS ** Limited HD Channels Yes I know, this barely even registers as «First World Problems,» but hey, this is a friggin JWMARRIOTT! It’s supposed to be top of the line, Marriott’s signature brand! Why shouldn’t I get Discovery channel in HD? ** Busted Outlets The lamps on either side of the bed have an outlet in each of them. This is good; however, something about them are jacked, because when I plug in my cell phone charger on either of them, it’s not a secure fit, it’s very loose. The phone goes in and out of charge mode if there’s even a minor tremor on the nightstand. I don’t know if it’s busted or just bad design. Either way, it’s really unfortunate. ** Closet Designed Too Small The closet has a safe in it, near the floor. It also has the ironing board hanging on the wall(which is normal), and it also has the little suitcase stand. The problem is, you can’t have the ironing board hanging while having the suitcase stand propped up. You run out of space. C’mon now. That’s a pretty stupid problem to have. ** No Outlets In Bathroom My outlet counts never include the bathroom, because I’m thinking of all the practical places you’re going to want to stick your charging items. In other words, while we do it all the time, you don’t want to put your phone near the sink. But it’s almost assumed that every bathroom is going to have outlets, but surprisingly, with such a high number of outlets outside, there are NONE in the bathroom! The vanity is in the bathroom, so that comes as a shock. Not that I need one, but where would you use the hair dryer? ** Small Vanity The vanity is in the bathroom. I’m sure it’s made of some great granite or whatever, but it was a little too small. Maybe about a yard or meter from left to right. It fit all my toiletries on there, but I was always worried that I was going to knock something off. FINALNOTES All in all, great hotel, but I was just irked that being such a high level luxury hotel, the CONS section were all so basic. I was expecting the utmost in luxury, but maybe you gotta get the balconies next to me to get all that.

We were cruising Hotel Tonight to not much avail, when we noticed a deal here. We were only in town for a short stint and were flying in and out of LAX, so staying on the West Side was imperative. We did a little more research and realized this place had a pool, was right on the beach and was one of the fancier Marriot’s we’d seen so we went for it. The check in staff is super sweet. They upgraded our room and gave us free wifi. I’m not sure if it was the norm, or if we were just the first chatty Canadians they’d encountered in a long line of assholes, but whatever it was we really appreciated it. Our room had a balcony with an ocean view, robes and first rate mini toiletries… pretty much everything you can ask for in a hotel room. If you haven’t been to LA, the location is excellent, too. Right by Santa Monica’s famed pier, a quick beach jaunt to Venice in one direction and Malibu in the other. Crossing town to the east side or downtown is hell on wheels, so keep mindful of that in mind if you have Dodger’s tickets or business in the valley. Pfftt… the valley.
