Betty’s Pharmacy

I went by today to collect a prescription and found a big FOR LEASE sign in he window. They are now out of business. No calls, no transfer of prescriptions. Just gone. Poof.

It is rare for me to write a review of any business other than a restaurant, but this pharmacy has definitely caught my attention.
It’s bright, clean, modern, very well organized, and full of friendly and knowledgeable staff. As I understand the place had recently changed ownership and is now even better than it was. The shelves are stocked with everyday items, the prescriptions are filled in no time, and its location is perfect! Away from all the hustle and bustle of big stores and in walking distance from great cafes and shops. One of which, Café Tazzina, is right next door.
The pharmacy has two parking spaces in rear and plenty of free spots on the street. In case you are feeling super lazy, Betty’s also offers free delivery.
It’s quick, easy, and very much a neighborhood place. A refreshing change from corporate super drugstores.

This independent pharmacy is like a breath of fresh air — very unique in their look, style and approach. It feels like a place you’d want to come back to again and again, for the friendly and knowledgeable service, and some unique items, including English Shaving Oil. I wonder if that product is in honor of the pharmacist’s heritage? She brought her style to CA after running a successful pharmacy in the UK. The last time I stopped in, I saw a new sign for Kangen Alkaline Water — a free water program! I have never seen that offer in any other pharmacy. Cheers to Betty for bringing a sunny pharmarcy to Santa Monica!
