Okay since I realized that my posts seem to be a bit protracted I decided to start going for food first. The chicken shawarma is chicken breast meat cooked perfectly. You can taste the cumin, paprika, and the all spice with a little bit of garlic and cinnamon to finish. The texture is spot on with bite-sized pieces, easy to fork and dip in your rice or yogurt sauce. There is really nothing special about making hummus it’s smashed up chickpeas with some olive oil and spices. Everybody thinks theirs is the best, but here it’s not any better or any worse. It’s just hummus. Oh my God the Falafel here is so good they’re little deep-fried Balls Of Heaven. I love to tear these things and half and soak them in tahini sauce, garlic sauce or even some hot sauce. Sometimes I just eat them alone so that I can taste everything inside, but make sure you have something to drink handy, because falafel is dry by itself. Onto the tabouli salad. This big bowl of bulgur wheat, roma tomatoes chopped up nicely, fresh cucumber(not Persian sorry), parsley, mint, some onions and you can taste lime, but not overwhelming like some. This is definitely not something you want to eat if you’re bringing your first date here, because you’re definitely not going to get a goodnight kiss. Better not be bringing a first date here anyway but that’s next. If you were looking for fine dining, quiet romantic atmosphere, or somewhere to take an important date this is definitely not your place. When you walked in it looks more like a warehouse than it does a restaurant or even closer to a nightclub in fact there’s a huge curtain at the end of the restaurant that covers the band equipment and the DJ equipment for what must be a nightclub at other times. What you will receive is service with a smile and that’s really about it. You chase your own drinks and report to a common table for the different sauces. You don’t see your waiter again after your food is served. So why only three stars? location, location, location, it’s not in a great spot and the Ambiance is not fantastic, nor is the service spectacular; however the food is to die for and yes I’ll be back many time I hope. Peace… j

Really good gyro plate with hummus, pita and salad. The accompanied garlic dipping sauce gives a whole new meaning to garlic, WOW! The rice has such a light yet exotic taste, nice and fluffy. The food is very fresh here and always consistently good.

Went to have dinner there tonight. It was not even 7 o’clock. Door were locked, cars were in the parking lot and no sign saying they were closing early. Won’t be going back very disappointing.

The food is so fresh here at Sulas! My favorites are the crisp Greek salad, their fresh hummus and the chicken shwarma! Service is great too! It’s a must try!

My husband & I love to split the gyro plate; we get to share a little of everything. Great food and flavor. Staff is nice too.

Definitely a great place to eat that isn’t very well known in town. The food is really delicious and fresh. You can really tell that the cooks use fresh ingredients. I’ve had the hummus and lamb kabobs and neither dissatisfied me. I would recommend this place for a healthy lunch.

Food is entry level at best. Looks good but doesn’t come close in taste. Ordered chicken shawarma, texture and taste are not good. I just kept eating a bit because I was traveling passing through. Service: the cashier was nice, the waiter had allot of pride to my taste. Tahini sauce was off, tasted like old water with lemon, runny, tasteless. Salad was cut into too big pieces, cucumber is American cucumber not middle eastern(Persian). Pretty bland food, didn’t hit the spot at all. The space looks good but hey at least match the food to the look of the place, really. Tasted like very cheap Mexican food made with no love and no middle eastern taste whatsoever. Never again.

Just got back from our first visit to Sula. Food was great, service was good(waiter was a little quiet, but he always made sure we were satisfied). I’d give it 5 stars but I reserve my 5 star ratings for mind blowing experiences. Go to Sula, I think it’s the best Mediterranean food on the Central Coast.

First time here and it is excellent. I had the lamb shawmara platter, the rice was nicely season, the lamb was perfect. The salad was nice and fresh, the hummus was just the right consistency. If were not for proper table manners in a restaurant I would have licked the plate.

One of those restaurants you’d never expect to find if not for Unilocal: who would have expected to find tasty Mediterranean food nestled away in a random building, appearing somewhat sketchy from the outside, across the street from a strip club. Go figure. While Sula lacks exterior décor, the interior’s ambiance was existing, but I don’t know whether I was still thinking about the strip club nearby – the dark lighting and spacious layout gave an impression of a club-by-night/restaurant-by-day sort of place. In the end though, there’s nothing conclusively scandalous after all, so let me get to the noms. The food was a mixed bag. Maybe I just have really high expectations for Mediterranean food because it’s hard to go wrong. While I found the $ 10 gyro plate tasty and satisfying, some items were better than others: — Portion size: Generous! Easily shared between two not-too-hungry people — Gyro: Good lamb/beef flavor, tender, not too dry. Probably my favorite part of the meal — Garlic sauce: Deliciously garlicky and pairs excellently with the gyro, but very butter-based. You have to careful with restricting how much you use, or else it gets reallllyyy fatty and filling – I would personally much prefer a tzatziki garlic sauce — Hummus: More bland and grainy than I’m used to. The paprika sprinkle is nice, but the recipe could use more olive oil — Salad: Standard — Basmati rice: Mildly flavored, great with the gyro — Pita: Something about the taste and texture is a bit off. I can’t quite place it, probably because I was so focused on the delicious gyro/garlic sauce/rice trifecta The verdict? I think I still prefer Jaffa when at Central Coast, but Sula is worth a try(especially if you don’t mind questionable locations)

Ordered the Gyro Plate which was DELICIOUS and a generously sized. The amazing garlic sauce with the pita bread was delicious as well. Highly recommended!

Amazing!!! I had the Lamb Pita and it was the absolute best Lamb ever!!! Soo tender and flavorful. The Lamb by itself would have been wonderful. But with the nice pita and tomato and lettuce and the sauce it became epic. This is by far one of the best meals I’ve had. Get the Lamb Pita. Your taste buds will dance and sing.

Sula is awesome. A bit of a note to precede my review… order the lamb plate, which is not on the menu(yet). The flavoring of the food is soooo clean. The other alternative for Middle Eastern food in the area is Jaffa. Having gone to Jaffa since we moved to the Central Coast, we were pleasantly suprised by Sula. The portion size is larger, and overall the food is more savory. Jaffa, I’m sorry, you’ve been replaced. The staff is very helpful, and the kitchen is mostly gluten-free and soy-free friendly. If you have food allergies, just ask your server. I think you will find a result like ours, where they go ask the cook staff to verify all the ingredients. Kudos everyone, and we wish you a prosperous 2016! Janet and Cynthia are the best!

As my Unilocal review shows… I have checked in at this place 5x. That is maybe a third of the number of visits to this restaurant. The food at this place just scratches an itch like no other. I always get the same dish… the Gyro Plate. Think deconstructed Gyro… a generous portion of the well spiced grilled beef and lamb meat that has been freshly cut from where it was cooking on the rotisserie. Basamatti Rice. Hummus. A side of Pita bread that comes wrapped in tin foil to keep it warm.(also there is just a little toasted effect to the pita that is great). Greek Salad(romaine lettuce, cucumber, red bellpepper, feta cheese and kalamata olives in a vinegrette dressing). Then, to dip the meat(or whatever) in, they provide a garlic sauce that is fantastic. I end up mixing tzatziki sauce, sambal oelek and the garlic sauce together to make the ultimate dipping sauce. The service is always friendly and good. It is a very big space for a restaurant so there is always plenty of seating. I highly recommend.

Sula Mediterranean restaurant prepares fantastic, flavorful, fresh food and their team of employees are wonderful. My favorite dish is the chicken kabobs with salad, hummus, basmati rice or French fries and freshly made pita bread. They make a fabulous garlic sauce I spread on everything. We have tried beef kabobs. Gyros, schwarmas, falafel as well as chicken. They also make 2 delicious red salsas that satisfy my desire for spices and have pickled chile’s for the picante lovers. I am taking friends and family with me so they can experience fabulous food that is healthy as well. Thank you Janet and Ashley for your wonderful service and kindness.

The inside of the establishment is so gorgeous! It reminds me of an airplane hanger that was refurnished! Very open and warm but also kind of hip? Lol idk. The food, to be honest, is alright. It was my first time having Mediterranean food and I don’t think it’s my cup of tea. The food is very savory, rich, and dense — which was a little too overwhelming for me but my friends loved it! I had the gyro plate with fries and the garlic sauce. The garlic sauce? Seriously I think I can dunk anything in it and it would taste amazing. All in all, I probably won’t come back just because it’s not my taste in food BUT I do recommend coming here if you’ve never had Mediterranean food or have had it!

What a refreshing change of pace. Ate at a similar place in SLO last week and the difference is day and night. My daughters beef shawarma was tender and delectable. My grilled veggie pita was crisp and tasty. The hummus is by far the best I’ve ever had. Took a lamb shawarma to my grandson and it was to die for. Amazing place reasonable prices nice nice people. Will return again and again
