We were looking for a new TV for my mom and she insisted that we try here. In my experience, independent A/V stores tend to be overpriced and frustrating so I wasn’t that keen on the idea. I insisted on pricing out Best Buy and Target before-hand but after receiving dubious information from these stores — one salesman at BB actually told me that 1080i and 720p were just different names for the same thing — I finally gave up and went to Audio Video City. Okay, for the record, let me just say this and get it over with — Mom, you were right. :) Lawrence, the salesman we worked with, was able to explain the differences between the various options. When I asked about their«low-price guarantee,» he showed me how they price compare — they use the internet to see what BB, Target, Circuit City and the rest are charging(duh — why didn’t I think of that?). He showed me that though their prices appeared to be higher, it’s because they were selling higher-end units compared to the stock at the other stores. He even printed out the specs on the TVs so I could do my own feature comparison but stayed close to answer technical questions. Technical expertise, customer service AND the same prices as the discounters? Sounds like a no-brainer to me …
