When I lived in Northern New Mexico circa 1980, this WAS as good as it got Jewish Community-wise! This was when the entire Santa Fe Jewish Community met in the old building and davened together under one roof. It was our special Northern New Mexico outpost. Here are some of my other memories: Highly enjoyable Friday night Shabbat services upstairs. I particularly remember that Rabbi Leonard(first name) would playfully introduce the local Judge and a few other notables. And of course, there was the blessing up on the Bima for all the single folks in the Community(which was almost all of us). Friday night Shabbat dinners downstairs. They weren’t always fully Kosher, but they were always eaten under«Rabbinical Supervision». Oneg Shabbat, later followed by dancing at La Fonda(Hava Tequila to a great Latin beat) and the Senate(the old long gone gay bar). Working with Rabbi Leonard at the Los Alamos Jewish Center during Sunday School. It wasn’t ALL fun and games!
