Santa Fe Western Adventures

I would rate this as the best trail ride I’ve ever been on. Most of the time these rides are pretty dull but this one was a lot of fun.
We were a party of 6 (one mom (me) and 5 «kids» aged 14 –25 (2 of mine and 3 friends)). I rode a lot as a kid but most of our group were fairly inexperienced. Russ and his helper Chelsea paired us with horses to suit our experience. Mine was more «go than whoa» and my 14 year old’s horse must be the same one mentioned in other reviews as «the snacker». It was nice to be on a horse that seemed to actually be awake. I also liked that the handlers spent time explaining exactly what we needed to do, especially on hills. I am sure that saves a lot of wear and tear on the horses.
We went on a 1 ½ hour sunset ride. Due to area thunderstorms, it was touch and go until the very last minute but Russ and I talked every 30 minutes late in the afternoon. The ranch is very pretty. We got to trot/​canter several times. I would highly recommend this place.

This place is great. My husband & I purchased the 1 hour ride! We loved it. I received a female horse and my husband a male. And my husband’s horse (Cowboy) was hilarious because he kept stopping to eat. And being my husbands first time riding, It was just hilarious to see. But the ranch is huge! The owner is friendly and quite talkative. I loved this place. His horses are beautiful! =)

I had a stellar experience today. Russ, the owner, is SUPER friendly and was also very accommodating when my friend and I showed up 15 minutes late (!) because of traffic. The ranch is gorgeous, the horses seem happy and well-​cared-​for, and the guides are knowledgeable and very friendly. Our 1-​hour trail ride went up and over some exciting butte terrain, and of course had those constant, sweeping mountain views that the west is famous for. I am a very experienced rider and am a little tough to please in the tail-​to-​nose trail riding scenario, but I *really* enjoyed myself here. Will definitely come back on my next trip to Santa Fe!
