Horrendous. Simply put. The food obviously came out of the freezer and the service was at best, awful. As my husband and I were the only people in the restaurant, it was surprising that my empty glass sat on the edge of the table for ten minutes before the waitress rudely asked if everything was ok. Canned chile on a burrito in New Mexico is insulting. Period. The overly salted gravy on my chicken fried steak and instant mashed potatoes was topped by clumps of gravy skin that could have only been there for hours and was only a smidge better than the straight out of the bag mixed vegetables. To top the meal off, there was a piece of plastic imbedded in our sopapilla. Will we be back? I think not. Should you go? Only if you feel like waiting forever for a bad meal and craptastic service.

We stopped for lunch on our way back to Albuquerque. We had great food and great service. We’ll stop in again the next time we drove through Pojoaque.

My mom and I stopped by for a quick bite on our way through Pojoaque. It’s a little hole in the wall off the frontage road and we were the only customers there. I hope more people discover this little gem! We each got a New Mexican dish — my mom got the chicken burrito smothered with green and I got the stuffed beef sopapilla with red and green. I was warned that the chile was hot, but it was just right for me! The portions were huge, but that’s a very New Mexican thing. Both dishes were very tasty and I ate way more than I should have. The sopapillas on the side were uniquely whole wheat and I loved the taste — delicious!

The food was atrocious. A friend ordered the grilled chicken sandwich(a chicken breast between on top of 2 square pieces of wet sandwich bread). While putting down the plate, she asked«make sure its cooled all the way through, sometimes they rush it». And my tuna salad looked like leftovers of shredded lettuce from the wrapping of a Subway sub with a can of tune flipped upside down on top. Terrible

Visiting family and they took us to one of their favorite spots. Very friendly wait staff and very good food! I just ordered the burrito christmas style, GOOOOOOD! We will have to always make a stop here.

what a sweet spot! we were driving on 285S and noticed the billboard«Roadrunner café, the finest american, spanish, and vegetarian cuisine». So we made a u-turn and head on in. We asked about veg tamales and Chef Prox said he can make us something vegetarian. He asked us if we wanted him to surprise us and we emphatically replied Yes. What we got: a tasty salad with spinach AMAZING sopapilla’s with honey. dessert for dinner! they were piping hot and just baked for us. the entrée was a large plate of AMAZING roasted veggies(celery!, onion, pepper, and tomato), relleno, and blue corn enchilada with red chile. The meal came with a roasted chili pepper sauce. then Chef Prox(as he is known) brought us apple empanadas on the house. we could not eat them b/c we were absolutely stuffed but they were as flaky and aromatic as can be. Chef Prox and Marcy(our waitress) were dolls. I mean absolute lovelies. The service was outstanding and we felt like we were VIP guests. Chef indulged all of our questions and Marcy was a smiling gem. I’m so proud of this place and what it provides to folks on the road.

Always had a nice experience there… I personally love the tackiness of the place, makes me feel like some of the restaurants of days gone by. Their sopapillas are so amazing, and the waitress is chatty and friendly, although a little rough looking. She accidentally gave me the combo plate instead of the combo stuffed sopapilla. At first I was disappointed because I have yet to find a tamale that didn’t taste like lard anywhere… but then I took a bite of it, and it completely took my mind off my previous order. I love breakfast anytime, because my son will fill up on one of their pancakes with a egg cooked perfectly. It feels local because it is local… well-read paper on the counter, plenty of room to sit and just unwind if you want. Oh… and less expensive than most!
