Just moved to Santa Fe and wanted to find a good place to get my hair cut. After reading his on line reviews, it seemed too good to be true, but I decided to give Johnny’s a try. What an AMAZING experience. Don’t ever recall getting a better haircut. Now I understand why his appointments can be 2 – 3 weeks out. His total focus is on pleasing the customer in every way. Johnny is so pleasant to talk to as well. Make an appointment, go to his shop, and only then you’ll understand.

You won’t get a better haircut, anywhere. Johnny is talented and he is totally committed to his work. It’s refreshing just to hang out with someone who is so into what he does.
For those of us old enough to remember, it is also a treat to hang out in the barber shop that dad took us too back when. The smells. The chair. The posters on the wall. And the neck shave with a real straight razor. Goodness I’ve missed that.
For a bonus treat, Johnny’s shop has a picture window that looks straight toward the sunset in winter. If you are lucky enough to get a late afternoon appointment on a day when we have a good Santa Fe sunset, watching the sunset, drinking a beer and chatting with Johnny is a memorable experience.

I waited 60 years to finally get the best haircut ever and it was worth the wait. Johnny is the consummate professional barber. He cuts your hair to fit your face and head shape. The warm towel and hot lather neck save is a bonus but the shoulder rub takes the experience over the top. He is more than a barber he is a hair cutting artist! Don’t waste your time or money going anywhere else. Johnny’s is the only place to go.

He listens to what you want and strives to make it perfect for you. He is meticulous and fully engaged in the process. He is also an entertaining character and conversationalist. Rather than reading my review, read the others… they sum it up as well as I could. I checked in at about noon, was given an appointment at 2:30. This is a very high quality one on one experience. I was out the door by about 3:30 with an absolutely great haircut and a sense of having met a friend. No waiting, no hustle and bustle, just a nice calming interlude with a top notch cut.

My husband always comes to Johnny’s for a haircut when we are in Santa Fe. We live part time in San Francisco and are part time in Santa Fe but Fred always waits to get a haircut from Johnny. He loves the atmosphere and attention to detail — he considers J an artist. Fred’s haircut is a «fade» and Johnny customizes that cut to perfectly suit his face and head. I always think he looks really great and definitely «classy» when he arrives home. The best!

I had just moved to Santa Fe and decided to give Johnny’s a try. Hearing the word Barber Shop did not get me excited, but I could not have been more wrong!
It was a great experience, and it is an extremely relaxing experience. Johnny has a great sense of style and will take his time to make sure you walk looking better than you think you could. Would definitely recommend him.

Like stepping back in time…
I grew up in Virginia and always went to the same barber shop. The guys there knew you and you could just sit down in the chair and they would give you a spic and span haircut. Johnny’s is the only place I’ve found like that in a long time.
I don’t get my hair cut often (as you can see by my picture), but when I do, I always go to Johnny’s. The funny thing is, he’s actually gotten me to change my haircut habits. At the end of a brutal week, there is nothing more relaxing than a haircut with a neck shave and hot towel with the monks in the background and a beer in hand. I’ve been getting my hair cut more — that’s how good he is.
