Love this place ! Great atmosphere ! Lots and lots of great items you can’t find anywhere else. Lots of great selections on books movies and music! They have vinyl. They also have a huge selection of comics. I highly recommend this store to find them unique items !

Thank God for Hastings. Now that borders is gone this is the only place in town for books, CDs and DVD’s. There are other books stores in town, but they usually don’t have music or films. Granted, the building itself is a DUMP… I suppose it’s like having some old rusty rake with a splintering handle. If you wear your leather gloves, it’s still useful! Wear your gloves when visiting Hastings!

So in my quest today to find family-friendly presents… I spent about an hour at Hastings Entertainment, which was an utter nightmare… Every single toy was about 3 times more expensive than what *I* can find online… The customer service was completely terrible, and the comic book issues were WAY overpriced… If I were you, I’d just shop local.

So you rent DVDs in the era of Netflix and the RedBox? How’s that going for ya?
So you cell CDs, eh? What’s the demand like for those? Or are you banking on a retro/nostalgia sort of comeback like with vinyl?
Oh, you sell magazines and books? Kind of like Borders, right? Where are they now?
No, but seriously, what keeps this business afloat?
As I walked in here I realized there was absolutely nothing in the store that I could or would buy considering the advancement of technology. It was kind of scary and depressing but I’m not sure if it was an effect the store was having on me, or the thoughts of our technological rat race.

This place has a great selection of movies, books, comics, games and music! If you can’t find something the staff can usually order it for you. The used selections are great for inexpensive entertainment and they usually are in very good shape for being used.

I honestly don’t know how this place stays in business, aside from being the only mainstream book store in town now that Borders closed. There is a Redbox location 200 yards in the adjacent Albertson’s, so unless you’re looking for a veeeeery specific DVD, Hasting’s offers zero advantage. And if I have the time, I’d much rather drive to Albuquerque to shop at Barnes and Noble, as least there I feel like I’m not being watched by people interested in asking me for free money.

I have a question. How can a business expect to sell anything when they are ripping you off. I went in to purchase a book. I noticed that they had a deal for any books labeled 7.99 or above. I chose the book I wanted. When I looked at the back I see it has a price printed by the publisher on the book for 7.99 however the Hastings sticker right next to it says 9.99. Confused, I ask the associate which price to go with thinking it was just a mistake but am told that the 9.99 price is what they are selling it as. They upped the price so I cant get this deal. And sell it for 2 dollars more than what every other store in the world is selling it. I put it back and vowed not to spend my money there anymore. No wonder why it was empty and everything looked disorganized. They are too busy ripping you off to actually care about anything else. I recommend that everyone go to another location or just shop on Amazon, not these rip-off artists.

Shatangi says support you local bookstore. Hastings offers a selection to rival any super chain bookstore with video, audio and game departments to boot. Most departments offer new and used products. Great service.
UPDATE* Bubble burst. Just found out they’re a chain. They still rock!
