Love, love, loved this place !! So much talent(that I could but wouldn’t afford) I was mesmerized by all the different shops and artists. Everyone had a story to tell and all the shop owners were so knowledgeable about their artists and how everything was made and how that particular artist came about their passion. Some shops even welcomed our dog to come in and look around

This is one of the best galleries in the area. The owner, Nancy is as nice as could be. She spent a considerable amount of time with us with no pressure. She even gave some incredible tour advice for the area, which lead me to a drive on the high road to Taos. But more importantly, she’s got some really fantastic and unique pieces of art. Definitely stop by here.

If you’re visiting Santa Fe to enjoy the charm, leave the plaza for a stroll along Canyon Road. What a wonderful place! Just take a walk and enjoy yourself.

Canyon Road Contemporary Art… our most expensive vacation destination… twice! But for a reason… The Brody’s gallery is located amidst the high-density galleries of Canyon Road, in Santa Fe. One of the things we liked about this place in 1999 and 2009 is varied selection of artists and mediums. During our visit in 1999, we picked up our first bronze sculpture(still our only bronze piece). At the time, we also had our eyes on the spectacular works of a young artist, Javier Barbosa. His somewhat abstract oils give off such stunning color, they almost glow… hard to take your eyes of them! Knowing what we know now, we should have picked up one of his pieces then! Fast forward: we made a return visit to CRCA specifically to look for a Barbosa piece; we had been receiving mail pieces from the gallery for years(a very good practice, I might add) and had to see what was in store… we got our piece, although about twice what we would have paid in 1999(oh well, lesson learned, or has it been?) it was ours… a piece called«La Rosa» that hangs in our main dining room that is the star of our collection. As part of the negotiating process for this piece, we asked to meet the artist in person, which they graciously agreed. Wife and I met with Mr. Barbosa, and found him to be an extremely gentle and insightful man. I didn’t pry on him about his vision or process, I just wanted to thank him for such beautiful work. That was enough for me. Buying art is such a personal process, it’s hard to characterize without actually going through the experience first-hand. A good gallery, like the one here, is a no-pressure, take your time approach; you should court art just like a partner… it takes time, which is why it took 3 trips to confirm our affinity for«La Rosa». So, if you need to visit one of the many fantastic galleries in Santa Fe and want to become not only enlightened but have an enjoyable, hassle-free environment, give Canyon Road Contemporary a try! Best to really shop for art sans young kids… although they were with us during our first visit, our second and third, where we were contemplating such a large purchase, was without. I look forward to handing these treasures to my children.
