We are new to the area and 2 locals who work at different restaurants recommended this place, so we gave it a try today for lunch. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by two smiling friendly faces. I ordered the Asada Chili Rellenos with posole soup… wow, both were awesome! My husband just had crispy tacos, 2 chicken 2 beef and typically these can be pretty boring, but he said they were really good. Both were shredded meat and flavorful. We have a lot of restaurants to try, but we will be back!

Ok so I don’t know why the red chili has been so hot here but good grief! Ordered the 2 tamale dinner with red chili and a side of posole(dairy free, so no cheese). I was chewing on pepto bismol after the second bite before I cried«uncle! «and gave up trying to eat it although it was tasty. I love chili and grew up with it as my entire family is from NM but this chili was torture. Lots of lettuce, tomatoes and chili on the side next time.

One of our family’s absolutely favorite New Mexican restaurants! The food is always wonderful, and the staff is very kind. The salsa for the table is so good!

The food at adelitas is genuine Mexican food. But the service is at best horrible! We have been there twice recently and the first time had to flag our buser to get the waitress to take our order. We got our food and never were approached by another staff member for refills or to see if we needed anything. I did ask for a refill on my water and only got half a glass. On our second attempt we were seated and 25 min later all the tables that were seated at the same time we were had their drinks and when we attempted to order the waiter just looked at us and walked away. Needless to say we walked out! We headed up the street to Mariscos where we were encountered by amazing service and out of this world food.

Very disappointed! Stale chips, out of carnitas, chicken on my salad was rubbery plus my husband ordered tacos that were served in «Taco Bell shells». Come on, if you’re going to serve good tacos serve them on freshly fried tortillas! It’s not often that I complain about a restaurant but I feel I must this time. Only plus was the wait staff.

Little wait to get or drink orders taken, excellent food. Tamales and red sauce were amazing! Rice and beans were great too!

This place is my standard for Mexican food. Wish I still lived in Santa Fe just to eat here every week. Everything is house made(not sure about the desserts being house made) and fresh and delicious! This is not a chain, nor a tourist trap. We were the only Caucasians in there any time we went, which was a lot, lol. Sometimes a Mariachi band was playing. Colorful, cozy atmosphere. This is the real thing for the regular Mexican fare you crave! The tamales are so moist and flavorful. Chips, tacos, enchiladas, chile sauces… everything is great!

I was so happy to see adelitas open as late as we came, the food was very authentic and was reasonably priced. I ordered some sopapillas and they were large, fluffy and sweet the way they should be. The salsa trio that was brought to our table was tasty but pretty spicy at the same time. Overall, everyone enjoyed their food and left happy

Adelita’s once again demonstrated its mastery of Mexican home cooking this afternoon. The Menudo was as good as the best I’ve ever experienced. My son’s chicken strips looked very appetizing and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her chicken enchiladas. Consistently good.

First, understand that my review comes from a visit on Christmas, so the place gets one star just for being open. The second star comes form the service, it was starworthy. Here is where it gets confusing. The tortilla burger is big and bold, and smothered in red chile it is two star worthy. The chips and salsa made me take a star away so here we are at three stars. This is not a bad place, but it doesnt seem to be a great place either, but when it is Christmas and the only place open it will surely do.

This used to be one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Santa fe but over the last year they’ve taken a nosedive. I ordered the beef fajitas and the quality of the beef was subpar and the tortillas were nasty. The service was slow and we definitely didn’t get as much attention as the other customers that were clearly friends with the staff outside of work. This isn’t the first time that my boyfriend and I have noticed that the servers definitely play favorites. Its not a horrible place but I definitely won’t be back for awhile.

this place is fantastic! more authentic mexicanish than new mexican. i was in heaven with their tacos. i ordered the balbacoa(beef lips) and lengua(beef tongue) and both were very flavorful and the right texture. i also really enjoyed the bean thing that came with it. it’s like a cross between a side of beans and a soup. very flavorful. also had the menudo, that was pretty good but not amazing.

Very bizarre experience. The restaurant itself had a dirty dingy feel. I ordered a house margarita, was IDed, come to find out their margaritas have no tequila in them! They only have a beer and wine license. So for 6.50 you get water and sugar? Why didn’t they say anything? Why did they ID me? Beyond bizarre. Food was mediocre. There’s much better places in the area that actually serve alcoholic margaritas. Weird experience. Go elsewhere. I feel like I got punk’d.

Adelitas! Great little place. They start you off with not one, but THREE salsas to dip your tortillas in. I’m having a hard time thinking of a better place to get salsa. The green chile, red chile and tomatillo salsa are freaking sweet. I totally loaded up on tortilla chips before my meal came. I got the chile rellenos, and, man, these boys could stand up to any rellenos in Santa Fe. I will say that my personal predilection is for the New Mexican fatty-fat-fat way of breading and frying the chile peppers, but I will say two things about this plate: the cheese inside the relleno was EXCELLENT. Gooey, melty, and lots of it, just the way a relleno should be. I got Christmas chiles, red and green, and both were very good, although I will say their green chiles had more flavor and bite. Side of refried beans, rice and some tortillas, and this boy is in heaven. Drawbacks? Like a lot of these delicious places, the food comes up pretty quickly. I know, it’s still good, but at least PRETEND you just made it???

Fish was cooked well with just enough of garlic sauce to compliment the meal. Served up with 4 flour tortillas, I had miniature fish tacos… a meal within a meal! Ambience was relaxing waitress was very attentive even though place was humming… definitely check it out if you are in Santa Fe.

I really enjoyed the chicken mole but I got it with the enchilada plate and the tortillas were awful tough. Next time I will just get it without the tortillas. Hubby liked the cheese enchilada’s. Charged $ 2. for a side of sour cream which was really crazy. With so many restaurants to try in Santa Fe we probably won’t be back.

We were joined by Bro J and TT for our first dinner together in Santa Fe on a Friday night. They have been coming here to enjoy red and green chile about annually for 10+ years so we relied on them to choose most of the dining. J had planned La Choza for Friday night, but when he learned that we ate at The Shed(and were underwhelmed) the night before, changed plans since La Choza and The Shed are under the same ownership. We went to Adelita’s, a place where they have had good meals on past visits. This the only place on our trip where we were served the Mexican style triad of salsas; thin avocado with good chile flavor and mild heat, a thin green tomatillo style that was tart and a little hotter and a standard red tomato salsa with cumin. The red salsa is not exciting, but the two green ones are decent. I had tacos de carnitas and these were very good. The pork was probably simmered or braised and then cubed and fried a little. It was nicely seasoned, tender, moist and fresh. It is served plain on four small tortillas. I would have liked some cilantro. There was pico de gallo that was mostly onion, but I picked out some tomato and cilantro to use. Great tacos, much more Mexican style than New Mex. Bro J had tacos de lengua. We traded one and while the lengua was fine, I liked the carnitas better. The lengua was served with onion and cilantro. We each got a cup of frijoles charros which were outstanding. You could get a bowl of these and easily make a meal with some soft corn tortillas and perhaps a little rice. It was brothy and well seasoned. The posole was a surprise. It included very nicely cooked pork, very tender and moist. There was appropriate salt. It does not include any chile, red or green. Ms T selected tacos de camarones. They were in a red sauce that was advertised as spicy but was had zero heat. I think they just meant seasoned, not hot. This would have been very good if the shrimp had had any flavor of their own. All tacos were served on good soft white corn tortillas. TT’s chiles rellenos were made with New Mex chiles(what else? in New Mexico you probably won’t see chiles poblanos). The sauces were well made. The green was a little tart and very smooth. The red was mellow and lardy, very good. The re-fried beans were also very rich with lard flavor. This was an excellent meal. For anyone thinking of going to The Shed, the difference between the two is night and day. Comparing the posole and beans side-by-side, Adelitas food tastes like they care. It was all well seasoned and properly cooked. The meat choices and quality blow The Shed away. I had The Shed at three stars until I ate at Adelita’s.
