I stumbled upon this place months ago and ended up getting a really good deal on an essentially new ninja blender. I’ve been using it like crazy and it is still working great. So when my vacuum broke I thought to check out this discount store again. I went in and they just so happened to be having a ‘blowout’ sale on vacuums– they were on sale for only $ 19.99, so I bought two, because my mom needed one also. The vacuums were sold ‘as-is’ and were not returnable. I thought, that’s fine– the boxes both were marked as having been recently checked/tested and the vacuums found to be ‘lightly used’ but ‘working fine.’ Well, when I got home, I discovered that BOTH vacuums had burned through electrical cords. One is so burnt through that it smells like ash and is nearly completely severed in half– there are exposed wires sticking out like crazy and the cord is black and brown(we aren’t talking something you can put electrical tape over). So now I have two broken vacuums that I can’t return, and with tax I spent $ 50. I feel, it is one thing to sell used vacuums that might have some quirks, but another to sell items that are dangerous and could KILL you! Had I plugged in the one with the badly burnt/almost severed cord who knows what would have happened!!! Also, it simply isn’t honest to mark them as working and checked when clearly they were not at all in functional shape or safe to be using– it’s unethical to sell them and freaking shady. What concerns me even more is that these items usually are sold for $ 150 at this store when not on sale, but this weekend were priced to clear– it’s a little interesting that they marked these down and made it so you couldn’t return them– It makes me think these were all the items that they knew were not functional. I wonder how may other poor people have bought a vacuum today and discovered it doesn’t work– maybe someone has even been electrocuted!!! It will probably be an easy fix to replace the cords, but I just feel it is really dishonest and possibly dangerous to sell these items without clearly stating that the cords need to be replaced. Other than that– you can find good deals if you go on the right day(when they are having a sale) and are willing to sift through things for awhile. The two-stars is due to the potential danger of the vacuums.

Was in Santa Cruz yesterday afternoon and passed by this place. Decided to stop here but I do remember a friend mentioning this place before. I just never knew it was near my doctors office. It’s easy to pass by anyway since it looks like a run down and abandoned building with the windows completely blocked out. If you don’t notice the small sign with their name, you’d probably pass it by too. When you walk in, you’re not greeted but that was ok in my opinion. If you need help, you won’t get reliable help. The gals there couldn’t answer my questions anyway. They looked at each other & said simultaneously«I don’t know». Great. where’s the manager? She’s busy in the back and won’t come out to speak to you either. Not very good customer service. The store has lots of new in the box, discontinued or redesigned packaged items. Their prices are decent for the mostpart but some things you can get cheaper elsewhere. You will find items from Costco here and I find that pretty cool. Brand new but open packages normally costing $ 20 at Costco only cost me $ 8 here! What a deal. I’m not impressed with the section of half broken vacuums but to each his own. Some people might find it and know how to fix it. The electronics department has items that are not well known brands. If you’re willing to take a chance, then go for it. When it comes to my devices, I’m not willing to take that kind of risk. My advice is: if you can’t find it anywhere else, try this place. it’s an interesting experience in it’s own right. Can’t give it more than 2 stars because customer service sucks, there’s no public bathroom and no negotiating on prices. Most thrift stores will wheel and deal. Not this one.

I did like the store in half moon bay. I just moved here and I’m very happy to find there is another one here in Santa Cruz. And I do like it here. The discount prices are great! I would recommend you check this place before you buy expensive or even other items, it is worth it to go here to check prices before going somewhere else.

This shop is an outlet for Costco and, more specifically, for their store in Tracy, CA. You’ll find sundry items here from last season and they’re available for a fraction of the price. There’s everything from sunglasses to copper cabling, to furniture, food, household items, electronics and clothes. Parking is plentiful and it’s a convenient place to pop-in and pop-out of. It’s always a gamble whether they’ll have what you need because it changes regularly. Only Habitat for Humanities’ store on Switch has a similar mix of products.
