Not sure how it’s possible to be out of regular white bread at noon, but somehow this subway managed.

Didn’t think they could get worse. I seriously think that this subway and the other subway downtown(Pacific Ave.) is owned by the same person and this person doesn’t give a crap about who works for them and whether or not their store/food is up to standard. I ordered a foot long and the worker gave me two slices of cheese, basically one slice on both side of the sandwich. Generally you’re supposed to get about 6 – 8 slices and they’re placed diagonally so they overlap and you get cheese in every bite. He only gave me two slices, when I called him out on it(in a nice way of course) he gave me one more slice… The sandwich I ordered was pastrami so when they put the meat on the bread they’re supposed to spread it around so that the meat is even and gets cooked/toasted evenly, I had to ASK for them to make the meat even. Very poorly trained workers, so poorly trained I can’t even begin to describe how bad they work. Santa Cruz has two terrible Subways. It’s not even worth the visit for the type of sh! t they serve to you. I’m seriously going to go out of my way to contact the franchise because these two locations are absolute crap.

Watch out they are running a scam. Ordered my food used my atm. Cashier never gave me the total just took my card. Never offered a receipt. Thought something was wrong. Noticed another customer go back as something was wrong with his receipt. Thought I better ask for my receipt. Luckily he was able to. I looked at it and noticed that I was charged for a 12“on one of the sandwiches. I had ordered 26″ subs. After bringing it to your their attention, the fellow gave me money out of a money box, not out of the register as one may expect. Sorry to those who think this is a good subway. This happened on Saturday the 22 nd of March.

As someone who spends a fair amount of time on the road, I’ve been to my share of subways. Usually pleasant, subway tends to not really vary in quality and service from location to location making it a fairly safe choice. This location, however, breaks the mold. Terribly customer service mixed with an apathetic staff wearing a look that reads, «honestly just go away», makes this location the single worst subway I’ve ever encountered. It’s a shame too because if it’s convenient location and ample parking. I do not suggest shutting this location down. Instead, bring some management in to actually train the seemingly incompetent workers here.

I don’t understand this location… I’ve been to a lot of Subways and this is by far the worst. I always get the same thing from every location(standard veggie salad; which is the salad version of a veggie delight). I’ve come to this location quite a few times because it’s on the way to my house and I figured each time that maybe they were training someone new or I happened to get an employee that was part of some sort of mentally handicapped outreach program… but it’s been the exact same service every time. — – Step 1: Placing the order. — — «Sandwich Artist» — *nods* Me — veggie salad «Sandwich Artist» — what? Me — veggie salad «Sandwich Artist» — …a salad? Me — yes «Sandwich Artist» —(asks fellow employee what to do… literally as if no one has ever ordered a salad at this location before) «Sandwhich Artist» — *starts to make a chopped salad*(which are more expensive) Me — no not a chopped salad, just a regular veggie salad «Sandwich Artist» — Just a salad? Me — yes «Sandwich Artist» — What kind of meat? Me — No meat — VEGGIE salad. «Sandwich Artist» — oh veggie? Me — yes — — Step 2: Building the salad. — — «Sandwich Artist» — What kind of veggies? Me — everything except cucumbers «Sandwich Artist» — lettuce? Me — yes(*winces at brown lettuce*, employee usually covers brown lettuce with more lettuce) «Sandwich Artist» — tomatoes? Me — yes «Sandwich Artist» — onions? Me — yes, everything except cucumbers «Sandwich Artist» — cucumb — -oh…olives? You get the idea. The salad accessories are always EXTREMELY sparce at this location… and when all you’re getting is a veggie salad, the quantity of veggies are pretty important. Only half of my bowl is usually filled, and for that purpose I have Step 4 in my belt. — — Step 3: The salad dressing. — — «Sandwich Artist» — What kind of dressing? Me — sweet onion «Sandwich Artist» — …what? Me — sweet onion «Sandwich Artist» — …sweet onion… — — Step 4: The finishing touch. — — I always like to get an extra layer of lettuce on top of the dressing because it makes it easier to mix everything together — usually it’s a small drizzle of lettuce but at this location it has the added benefit of filling my otherwise mostly empty salad bowl. Me — And can I get an extra layer of lettuce on top? «Sandwich Artist» — You want WHAT??? HOWDAREYOU!!! YOU’LLDRIVEUSOUTOFBUSINESSYOUFATSONOF A &*^$%%$%%!!! Ok that last bit was an exaggeration but you get the point ;-)

Really fresh. Being vegetarian I am always worried to go to Subway and do rely on review of Unilocal on freshness of vegetables. And this place I think one of the best subway place in terms of freshness.

The service was atrocious. I was extremely disappointed that this establishment would actually close their doors 20 minutes before closing time.

Decent sub sandwich. Been here tons of times since it’s right by my work and they haven’t messed up a sandwich yet. Kinda hard, especially since you tell them and you actually SEE them make it. And it’s subway! you kinda know what you’re gonna get. and the cashier is generally pretty cool.

Came here for my usual Italian BMT and my boyfriend ordered the premium Philly Cheesesteak. The Italian BMT was alright. They obviously made it to my speculations, but you can’t mess up on that part. I normally ask for oil and vinegar at the end and the sandwich maker put way too much oil in it. I enjoyed my sandwich, but the reason I’m giving this place a one star is because of the Philly Cheesesteak. The sandwich maker asked if my boyfriend wanted the sandwich toasted. Well. it’s a Philly Cheesesteak, the cheese is supposed to melt. I thought that was kind of weird. The only other instance is that the sandwich maker didn’t know any answers to my questions. I asked which sauces complimented which sandwiches and he couldn’t even give me his own personal opinion. Then my boyfriend gets home and tastes that the sandwich maker had not put enough cheese in the sandwich, so it was like eating a dry beef sandwich. I’m pretty sure the workers at Subway are supposed to know the proper amount of cheese to put in the sandwich in order to taste delicious. Too bad this place did not. I normally love Subway. It is one of my favorite«fast food» places, but this place was definitely a let down. I don’t think I would come back for any«complicated» sandwiches in the future.

Didn’t have the same negative customer service that I read from others. Quite frankly, a standard Subway experience in every way. Sandwich tasted like any other Subway sandwich, and the service was standard. Relatively blank stare from the employee, but nothing negative. She just looked tired. It was 7:50am, I was tired too. No impression made, positive or negative.

I usually avoid reviewing chain restaurants since most of them are the same, however, this Subway is actually worse than the regular friendly Subway we all know. I can’t stress how much customer service sucks here. Last time here, I actually felt bad coming out of the restaurant because when I asked for a few extra toppings the worker behind the counter made a disgruntled face as if I just ruined his day cause I asked for extra toppings. I usually covet the time I have to indulge in food everyday, even if it’s subway quality except for this one time. The process of ordering the food should not make the food taste worse than it already is. Anyways, I know I’m not Unilocaling about the food but hopefully with more low rated reviews will eventually make this place shut down. Make your own sandwich for once and just avoid this subway location.

You walk in, you get your $ 5 footlong, they toast that shit up, you get a bag of chips or a cookie and a drink and you eat that shit and you like it! All you need to know.

I go here because it’s Subway so it’s cheap sandwiches that are pretty good. Especially when you have to grab a quick bite that’s cheap. that’s the main reason. not because their sandwiches are amazing or something. They’re usually nice and pretty quick for sure. I just feel uncomfortable at times because when there are all guys working, they all talk in Spanish and it makes me feel like they’re talking about the customers. After reading other reviews, that definitely confirms my suspicions. One even tried hitting on me once –____-. I went here earlier today though to grab a foot-long for lunch with my boyfriend and it was all girls and one guy who came out later who were very nice and polite. I guess it just depends on the service you get.

I came here on a Sunday afternoon(around 1:30 pm) with my boyfriend for a quick sandwich, and I must say that the service is just terrible. We waited in a long line but we were patient. There were only 2 people working the line but it’s a small place so whatever. As I was telling the lady what toppings I wanted, she gave me a snippy attitude. I guess she couldn’t hear what I was saying… I kept saying«shredded cheese» and she just kept yelling«Cheddar!?!» So I said yes that one. She threw it on and literally tossed my sandwich to the side to the other guy. I’ve never been to a restaurant(fast food place or other) where somebody did that. I am a very understanding person and it could just be that she is having a bad day. but hey I work in retail and I never let that show. Honestly, if she doesn’t like her job then she should give it to someone else. There are plenty of desperate people who would be grateful for any job. Along with the bad service from that one worker, my boyfriend wanted a turkey sandwich but they ran out. And from reading the other Unilocal entries, this isn’t the first time they have had this problem. I don’t know how they are that understocked but it seriously contributes to the bad experience.

I like this Subway because they are super friendly. I have school twice a week and I often grab a Subway sandwich on my way up to campus to last me the entire day. Honestly, at 7 in the morning, I don’t expect any human being to be in a good mood. Whenever I come here, every employee is really nice to me. They always make conversation with me and make me laugh. We even got to a point where they knew I knew some Spanish and spoke to me just in Spanish haha. They are honestly really sweet people. I hate waking up in the morning, but when I get my sandwich and get treated nicely, it keeps me coming back. The only thing I don’t like is that often times their registers aren’t ready in the morning and I can only card or sometimes only cash.

I’ve been here a few times and each time I get great customer service and the staff is always friendly and smiling. The store is always clean and smells like fresh baked bread. The bread case and sandwich bar are always fully stocked and they seem to give you a little more than they are supposed to ingredient wise. The guys here do like to joke around with you but are cautious about it. This is my go to place for a good quick sandwich. The parking is terrible but not worth docking one star for.

I came to this subway to get away from the slums of the subway downtown, unfortunately this one wasnt much better. I walked into the freezing cold building at lunch time to order a sandwich(love that BMT!). the wait was about 10 minutes and there were about 6 people in front of me. as i was ordering, i noticed the pickles look a little strange; i couldnt really figure out what the deal was… maybe moldy? anyway, I paid and left only to be harassed by some girl begging for money«for food»(i offered her my cookie and my drink and she refused…). I sat outside at a table alone listing to this girl ask everyone that walked by for money. not too pleasant, and slightly awkward to eat my lunch in front of her. i wish i could give 5 stars for the staff! they are overly friendly and let me order in espanol! muchas gracias!

Very very poor customer service. Here is the story, My friend ordered a BLT, The counter guy«Sorry we don’t have bacon» My friend remade her decision and ordered a turkey sandwich, The counter guy«Sorry we don’t have turkey» My friend, «are you guys serious?» The counter guys started cracking up, and giggling behind the counter, mocking my friend. «hehehehehe» We thought that was the rudest customer service ever, and decided to never go back again. Oh, and on top of that, the sandwich is mediocre at best. Do yourself a favor, goto safeway for their sandwiches, only 1 block away. thx, have a nice day.

just another usual subway. I think the subway sandwiches here taste just as good as any other subway i’ve been to so no complaints about that. The only thing that bothers me is that everytime i come here, i feel like the latino dudes making my sandwich(es) are talking about me and laughing about it. Besides that, i still come here regardless of what they want to say. i still think about it every time i go here tho

I go to Subway for the food, not the service. But I’d like to comment mainly on the service/staff during closing on Sunday, June 21. It was around 10PM and their doors were still open, so I thought Subway was… well, still OPEN! But no, they were«closed» or «closing up». So when I approached the open door a few meters away, some guy shouted«CLOOOOOOOOOO» and I thought he was saying«noooooooo». So when I actually got to the opening of the door, he shouted«CLOOOOOOOOOOOsed». WELL, a simple«Sorry, we’re closed» would’ve sounded more pleasant OR just waiting for me to get just inside to tell me that they were closing would’ve been much more appropriate than shouting out the door, meters away. Maybe I was overreacting… but I was hungry! So I may give this Subway another chance — during regular hours — but just for the food, not the service.
