I really REALLY like what New Deal carries I just wish it had more for the bigger gals(bigger than size 8⁄10). Even after losing over 25lbs I STILL have a hard time fitting into anything at this shop. The tops seem to be made for the less«buxom» beauties I guess. The sizes seem to just run more on the junior end:( However, I love the accessories and vintage stuff. They have fair prices and most of the time the sales people are pretty cool. I like peeking in and finding a cool something or other here. I am hoping they will expand their sizes a TOUCH more up the size chart and then they’ll get some more business(and at least another star)… at least from me!

There are a lot of clothing shops on Pacific that have really great stuff – but will cost you your tuition for the next quarter. Seeing the stuff in New Deal’s window made me put them in the«nice but damn pricey» category. I was very wrong. Pretty decent variety of things, all very reasonable. Think $ 15 for a cute top, $ 40 for a coat, and anywhere between for $ 20 – 40 for dresses. They have sunglasses, hats, belts, makeup, sportswear, sweet/feminine stuff, punky stuff, goes on and on. The staff were friendly, but left you free to roam around without pressuring you. Also, props for playing really sweet music from early 1900s.

I love going into New Deal. I have bought a load of beautiful dresses there in the past. The prices are reasonable and the dresses they carry are totally stunning. I also love the staff. They are all so sweet and helpful. This is by far the best clothing store in Santa Cruz.

Cute store stocked with lots of nouveau vintage, although I’m more into the real thing. I found the guy working there that day to be extremely friendly, but that might have had more to do with the fact that he liked my leather utility belt and less that he wanted me to buy something.

When it first opened, I would have given it a 2 star rating. None of the stuff they had in there fit me(I am not a size three or a zero… I am a very happy size ten damnit! I have curves). The guy working the store was not very friendly. Since their opening they have(thank goodness) got clothing– CUTE clothing like their 1950s dresses and sweaters/cardigans that fit me to a tea. They have adorable shoes, scarves and hats… everything is reasonably priced considering. They have super sweet handbags and grandma bags that could kill someone if you were hit upside the head with them. They have stuff that is sweet and innocent– then casually in the back they have some kinky knickers that would make a blind person blush. This is a place to check out– small store packed with tons of great stuff!
