This store is has heaps of overpriced junk everywhere. It’s a disorganized mess with prices that are the owner’s best guess at what she can trick someone into paying. Crap with a side of aggressively surly service? Avoid this place at all costs.

Man behind the counter gave us a perfectly pleasant greeting when we walked in. However as soon as he realized we were together and shopping for wedding bands he went ice cold. I admit, it’s just an assumption, but it appeared he didn’t care for the fact that we are an «interracial» couple. He even walked away from the counter without a word for several minutes. Thought he was juggling customers(it was a beautiful, sunny Sunday) but it became clear he was just avoiding us. As we left he finally came back to the counter and said«take care,» this time avoiding all eye contact. In any case, he clearly didn’t want our patronage, which was just fine because there are several other shops in the area with friendly service and nice selections. If you’re looking for antique jewelry, definitely check out Judy Wyant just across the way from this shop.

4.5 stars. Awesome antique shop and the people are always cool. It’s smaller than others I’ve seen(anyone who has been to Placerville probably knows why that’s the case) but it’s got a LOT of really neat stuff. In 2011 my friend’s cousin got a sweet harmonica there that he still enjoys. Came in today with that same friend and browsed — no purchases today, but it’s still a neat shop and the woman behind the counter greeted us kindly on arrival and departure.

I went in yesterday, since I’m a collector and have always enjoyed antique shops. I asked for an item I was looking for, and the gentleman working(owner) found one in the back. He was very generous, and he’s nice to all of the kids who go in with their parents, equipped with a bowl of candy. He was able to come down a little on the price, since the item had been in the shop for a while, and even though the internet prices might be cheaper nowadays, I’ll gladly support a local business any day. The excitement of finding a product in person and having the ability to grade it yourself beats any internet sale. I really enjoyed this shop, and next time I’m in the Santa Cruz area, I’m going back in.

Mr. Goodies has been around for as long as I can remember. I have spent many of my childhood summers in this store dreaming and pretending I was a princess or a roaring 20’s flapper. I used to go to many antique shows and flea markets with my uncles who co-owned the store and it was a sensational experience. This store and the foundations it was built with are the reason why I am an avid collector of antiques and can say now as an adult that I have a GREAT eye for things that may be worth value. Do not go to Santa Cruz without stopping by this place. Pacific has great food, shopping and interesting people ALWAYS.

I’ve been dying to find a good antique shop since high school. When I went to visit a friend at UCSC and we walked through downtown, we stumbled upon this place and I’m so glad we did! There are so many cool trinkets and kick-knacks here and I could have been there for hours. I found some great Nixon and«I Like Ike» campaign buttons and old movie stills. I really need to save some money so I can come back and buy one of the cool film cameras they had on display. If you’re in Santa Cruz, you gotta check this place out!(Someone suggested that the reviews are by friends of the owner, but I’m definitely not)

I’m not sure why this store has such high reviews, maybe they’re from friends of the owner. My personal experience with this store wasn’t so good. We walked in and a lady at the counter(owner?) just stares at us, not even giving us a greeting. They had a great selection of items and all overpriced, which I was bummed & surprised about. Maybe because of the location, since it’s on that main row of shops but seriously. So I found these antique letters that I really really wanted but they didn’t have a price. I go up to her and ask her the price, letting her know there are no prices marked on them. She replies, «well, someone probably took the price off.» insinuating I took off the tag? There were some bigger letters nearby marked $ 5 so she just said the ones I was looking at were $ 4. But mine were way smaller than the $ 5 ones, so it was lame she just made up some price for them. She’s not very warming or friendly at this point so I asked my husband if he’d ask her if she’d take $ 10 for the 3 letters. When he asks, she immediately cuts him off saying no. Okay fine, no negotiating but no need to be rude about it. Sometimes I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and think maybe she’s just having a bad day. But we arrived in the morning, when the store had just opened. The day hadn’t even started yet to justify her treating us so rudely. Anyone wanting antiques in this area, if you’re coming down south — just come to the Long Beach Antique market or even the Rose Bowl flea market. You’ll find lots of the same things for a better price, and meet far friendlier people.

I’ve bought a number of things from Mr. Goodie. I live in a Victorian. I’ve bought a number of Victorian era goodies here. They do a great job in restoration, and have a good selection. Check it out!

Great antique store, esp. for americana. Great prices, too! Fun place to browse with great music always happening. Some Victoriana – sometimes a sweet piece of furniture – always interesting porcelains, light fixtures, silver plate and jewelry.

I love you Mr. Goodies, even though you take all of my money! Beautiful vintage jewelry, most very reasonably priced, lots of Bakelite and cool vintage kitchen stuff. I had to stalk a beautiful ivory Mah Jong set for almost six months before I could make myself buy it; talk about a completely unjustifiable expenditure. And the folks who run the place are absolute dolls!
