Katwalk

I predicted the closing of Katwalk about a year before it happened. If you notice the good reviews are always about a stylist who worked there and never about the salon itself. The woman who last owned it took a thriving buisness and ran it ib to the ground in just over a years time. It takes a special type of person ro do that so I guess she did one yhing there really well. First she lost almost all her stylists. Then tried to ru n the place in an absentee manner. Never there but always blaming things on the people who were there. Assumptions were made about people off of circumstances rather than actually) ly talking to a person to find out what the real story was. This happened a lot. If you went to Katwalk and had a good stylist, follow them. If you notice Tracy Reynolds working in any salon in Santa Cruz county run far far away from it. Its a sinking ship.

I was in desperate need of waxing and Michelle Kelly was able to fit me in on the same day. I’ve had a lot of waxing in my life and the quality of the wax she uses was instantly apparent. The waxing was more comfortable than most I’ve received, which speaks to the high quality of her wax and her excellent technique. Also, my skin usually breaks out after I get waxed, but whatever she put on after waxing calmed my skin down right away and I never broke out.
I also enjoyed talking with her, which is nice since I’ve received a lot of waxing with people that didn’t speak English or that I had no connection with. She has a nice private room in the back of the salon. Her prices are very reasonable considering the high quality of materials and the time she spent with me. I will be going back to her again. Apparently she also does facials, which I’m excited to check out!

After getting my hair done by the same stylist in Los Altos for 25 years, I needed to find a new stylist when she retired I live in Santa Cruz and decided to try Katwalk since it’s close to home. Colleen has been doing my hair for the last 5 months and she does a great job! Further, she is prompt and reasonably priced. Two thumbs up!

January 2014 — So… I guess Katwalk is under new ownership, and when I called to set up an appointment with my stylist of 18 years, I was told that she left. Then I was told that a junior stylist could take care of my needs for a lower price, which I wasn’t interested in scheduling, so instead of answering my question of where Kimberly had relocated to… I was hung-​up on! SO RUDE! Don’t you know that word of mouth is the best or worst advertisement, especially in a small town?

Katwalk had a group of stylists for 15+ years, and it was so harmonious, creative, and friendly from the scheduling of an appointment, until I walked out feeling like a glamours kitten, but from what I can tell, they’re all gone. I would avoid this place… if their service is anything like their phone manners… you get what I’m saying!

Well I haven’t gone to get my hair cut in a year or so and it figured it was time to get clipped so I called my home girl mercy at cat walk because she is the only woman I let touch my hair and was super bummed to find out that she had left the salon along with almost all of the girls in the shop (completely blew me away because she has been cutting my hair there for 16 years) by someone who really sounded like they had better things to do than answer the phone I was told that they had junior stylists that could cut my hair just as well as anyone else and for less, I kindly declined and asked if I could get the new location for mercy and was hung up on so need less to say I will never be going back to that salon ever again but I was super happy to find out that she had moved to a salon called lavish it is right down the street so she is not very far from her last location I will let you know how that goes after my cut

This place has changed for the worse. I Called and asked for my stylist and was told that She was no longer there and that a junior stylist could do it for much less. When I said no thank you she hung up on me. Luckily for me a friend knew that my stylist had moved to Lavish. The girl on the phone was Unprofessional rude and pushy. Keep it classy Katwalk if I wanted a junior stylist I would go to a beauty school not a high priced salon.

I wouldn’t recommend this place. After walking up to the front desk, my friend and I stood for about ten minutes before we were even acknowledged. There was a woman cutting a client’s hair but she didn’t even give a hello or let us know she’d be right with us. Being that this was a recommended place for my friend to get her hair styled for her wedding, we figured it would be a go. However, the woman who did help us was very pushy and intent on setting up an appointment, even though my friend was only there to ask questions and see examples. When my friend went back a few weeks later for a consultation, she paid $ 75 for ONE hairstyle that she didn’t even like. If someone is going to do a consultation for a bride’s hairstyle, don’t you think it may take for than one try? It’s the bride’a big day, she should be happy! I went here off a referral card for a haircut by Mercy and it was the best haircut of my life. Mercy was a great stylist with my hair. I went in wanting a faux-​hawk type hair cut and she killed it with some pretty astounding time. The only down side was the pricing, I’m a college kid so the price of 45 $ normally is a bit much. However, if I could afford it each time, I would go to her.

Everytime I go in to Katwalk for a haircut I come out looking like a star. Crystal did a FANTASTIC job on my A line. I’m getting compliments left and right! Love love love my new hair! Thank you!

I have been coming here since I was a Junior in High School, so about 9 years. I have seen the same girl: Marissa Kotila!
The front desk staff/​receptionists aren’t great, they could use some improvement as far as that goes. But Marissa usually greets me when I walk in, so I don’t have to deal with the receptionist anyway.
I have tried A LOT of hair stylists over the years. Marissa is the ONLY one who consistently does my hair exactly how I want/​need it. She even took me from a natural blonde, to a brunette! She knows me so well, and gets me coffee if I need it. She’s great! I will go to her until she retires!

After a long search for a local stylist, and a lot of disappointing results, I stumbled on Katwalk and decided to give it a try. Natalie was my stylist and did an amazing job! She got exactly what I wanted and the cut was perfect.
She was a lot of fun and we had a great time. Looking forward to going back for my color!

Great salon with a great variety of ladies, I have been going to Shealynn since 2005 and I’ve never been dissatisfied… Nor has my brother, my mother and my grandma. I can also say I know the majority of the other ladies there and they work magic!
