I had cataract surgery done by Dr. Luksich about 5 months ago. I did extensive research on the procedure and what could be offered before seeing any doctor. What Dr. Luksich offered was excellent advise and extensive experience. His staff did great work and his equipment for eye measurement was some of the best available. My results were great. After 55 years with very nearsighted eyes, I am now glasses free without having to resort to the much more expensive and potentially problematic«premium» implants that so many ophthalmologists push. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Luksich for his skill, experience and no BS approach.

Back in April I had an episode where my eye suddenly filled with floaters. I’d had small dot like floaters for years and understood what they were. This was different so I called the Santa Cruz Medical Foundation’s ophthalmology dept. late on a Thursday evening. They didn’t seem concerned and made me an appt. for the next afternoon. When I arrived the doctor who came to the room was Jason Luksich. He did a routine eye exam(no xrays, didn’t put the lens on my eye to look inside) and told me I had floaters that would probably dissipate over a few weeks. I was to leave on a plane for New Zealand in a few days and he told me it was fine to fly. Over the weekend my vision got worse, like a veil over my eyes and my perifial was darkening. On Monday I saw a retinal specialist who did emergency laser for 5 holes in my left retina, one huge, and one tear in my right eye. If I had taken Jason Luksich’s advice and gotten on a plane my retina would have detached and it’s a long flight to New Zealand from CA so I more than likely would have lost vision in that eye. I was shocked he hadn’t seen anything or taken further measures to check my eye. I told him the floaters seemed different and more pronounced but he acted like it was nothing. He should have done more testing or at least sent me to someone who was more knowledgeable. He wasn’t board certified so why did the clinic send him in to check on me anyway when I had classic signs of the issue being more than just floaters!!!

In March 2011 my husband and I went to see Dr. Luksich. My husband was overdue for a full eye exam. We have both had our eyes examined many times before, so we knew what to expect. The first thing we noticed was that the eye piece to test your eye pressure was just sitting there out in the open for any one to touch. Who even knows if it was clean?! When Dr. Luksich came in, we introduced ourselves and then he got on with the exam. He was«rushy» and not careful enough. He didn’t wash his hands after he shook our hands or before he did the exam. After he put in the eye-drops he left the room and didn’t come back for a long time. He didn’t wash his hands when he came back. He used his fingers to open my husband’s eyes wider. When he tested the pressure in my husband’s left eye he was too forceful and hurt my husband’s eye. He also wouldn’t offer us any information about the exam. My husband wanted to know if he needed prescription glasses. That was one of our main reasons for going there. Dr. Luksich wouldn’t do that part of the eye test. He just rushed him and said you can keep wearing over-the-counter reading glasses. PAMF charged his insurance a lot of money for that visit. A few days later my husband went to another eye doctor in town because his eyes were irritated and bothering him. We were worried and upset. Our exam with Dr. Lucksich was a RIP-OFF and a waste of our time. It was less than worthless.
