Excellent selection of spices, especially chiles for Mexican recipes. Good selection of canned chile products. Almost always have fresh tomatillos. Their selection of refrigerated salsas is very handy. At least 3 kinds of queso fresco. Their meats always look fresh. Hernandez is a one-stop-shop for making a big or small Mexican meal.

Odd, cramped location under an apartment complex, little or no organization, expensive, selection is subpar besides some interesting Mexican imports. You’re better off buying from New Leaf at these prices! Ridiculous.

This is definitely a neighborhood bodega-style market. No, you wouldn’t want to drive here, but it’s a convenient place to pick up a six-pack or something you forgot to get when you drove to Trader Joe’s. I like to walk to get groceries, and it’s the closest place to get beer from where I live… The guys in here are always nice and the store is cool, I recommend it! Support locally-owned business!

Well, this store personally seems randomly placed for me. It’s right under an apartment complex, and there doesn’t seem to be any parking for it. I may be wrong since I walked here, but it’s on Laurel, which is way too busy to park your car on most of the time. It could get annoying and inconvenient to have to park 2 blocks down every time to go grocery shopping… Anyway, I came in here just to check it out since I have a couple friends who live by here, and walked in with hopes that maybe they’d sell cheap groceries! Wow, was I wrong. I think the only thing this store has going for them is that they sell imported Mexican grocery products, which you probably wouldn’t be able to find in an American supermarket. Even their beer is expensive – 6 pack of Bud Light for $ 5? Is that really even worth putting on the window as a «sale» item? It is a fairly small/cramped store as well… but they do have a lot of stuff in here. If you’re looking for specific groceries that you would normally only be able to find in Mexican markets, then chances are that you’ll find them in here for slightly higher prices. I’d recommend going to La Esperanza, which is right up the street and has a better selection than this place. I guess this place is convenient for those who live in the apartments above them. I’ll probably only come back here if I’m at my friend’s house and am in need of a quick grocery fix since there’s nothing else around that’s walking distance…
