Like the other reviewers, I have fond memories of the hot dogs at this little stand. And perhaps they’re as good as ever, though the lack of any recent reviews would give me pause. This morning I made the mistake of stopping in for a coffee after I did a goodwill drop off. Yes, they have a sign in the window for coffee and a fancy espresso machine, so I didn’t think I was going out on a limb. But it was awful. I ordered a latte and watched as the woman poured a coffee into a cup, then poured cold milk into the coffee and proceeded to steam/froth the whole drink into a bubbly mess. While I was recovering from the shock, she started to prepare my bagel… she unwrapped it from cellophane and started sawing on it. She struggled with it for awhile, chunks coming off, and we both concluded that the bagel was better suited for hockey than eating… I’m glad she abandoned the effort before she got hurt. At that point, we just agreed that I should go somewhere else for breakfast. I might venture back for a hot dog and chips one day, but go here for breakfast at your own risk folks… if the stand wants to offer any kind of coffee business, they need to do some basic barista training for the staff and upgrade their pastry selection.

I have to give this place four stars because this is the only place where you can go and get hotdogs well except if you go to 7-Eleven. Anyways the prices are okay $ 3.25 each hotdog. It is a coffee place as well to get expresso as well. I like they do have Frostie soda. The hotdogs are Chicago style which is a plus, but too bad Chicago style dogs have to be small =(Anyways I can easily eat three of them, but then I will get nice and fat.

great hot dogs!!! For like 5 dollars, you get one of the best hot dogs in the CRUZ, chips and a soda!!! I wish Santa Cruz, had more of this kind of street food mentality. Not only do they have legit hot dogs, but they have a wide variety of magazines. Every time I pass this place I grow nostalgic for the Chicago style hot dogs. This is the pinks of Santa Cruz. This is the perfect place to grab a quick bite to eat, on a hot summer, spring day.

So I’ve never been to a good hot dog place before – they usually tend to be all the same to me, but I couldn’t help but try this place after walking by it and starving to death(and also seeing the good review by Ms. Samantha R). I thought it was a really cool little spot. Good for sitting down, catching up with some news mags, or even catching up with some friends. There was one worker when I came here, and he was extremely friendly to me. I had no idea what«Chicago Style» was so he explained it all to me, and I couldn’t resist. I ordered it along with chips and a soda and it came to about 6 bucks. I devoured it in about 3 bites, but I was craving another one immediately after. If I weren’t a poor college kid, I probably woulda had 2 more, but that’s just gonna have to wait. Overall, I recommend checking this little spot out. It’s a place you’ll probably never think of hanging out at, but if you give it a shot, it won’t disappoint.

So this place probably has the biggest selection of magazines on the west side. They definitely battle Borders for best selection, and this place really lays it out in front of you in a visually appealing way. Its a tad overwhelming though if you suck at decision making like me. In addition, their coffee selection is pretty sweet, and the hot dogs are a good find as well. I stopped here with my housemates because we passed the«best hot dogs in Santa Cruz» sign every morning. The Chicago Style hot dogs were legit. They were better than some hot dog joints that I’ve been to before that specialize in only hot dogs. They use real peppers, fresh tomatoes and onions, real pickle spears, and make it hot for you on the spot. They are not skimpy on anything, so this is a mouthful. If you like Chicago style hot dogs, its 3 dollars for a legit dog. If you are walking around, this place is definitely a good lil spot. Nice to pick up some reading material and some coffee or a snack. It is only open till 4, unfortunately, though. But hey, if you are here donating some stuff treat yourself to some good eats with some of the money you make!
