I’ve done the large group fishing charters before and they were fun, but now that I’ve been fishing with Captain Joe, this is the way to go! I’m a total novice and was fine to just hold the fishing pole from the safety of my seat on the cooler while Captain Joe did most of the bait catching and then hooking that bait on my hook and then helping me bring in all the fish that kept jumping onto that hook. I could have been as involved as I wanted to be but uggghhhhh, my stomach was not being super cooperative so I mostly just held the lucky rod and waited for the fish to bite and ended up catching five of the six cod we took home. (Note to my boyfriend: Sorry I’m not sorry I accidentally KICKEDYOURASS at fishing!!) Thank you Captain Joe for such a great day out on the water! And for not being annoyed that I didn’t know what I was doing! And for answering all my questions about the map/sonar thing! And for heading for calmer waters when you heard me say I was feeling queasy! And for cleaning our fish! And for teaching me how to use the toilet!(I recommend using the one in the bait shop before you depart because the toilet on board was a challenge and the fewer times you have to go, the better.) Basically, it’s a good thing this wasn’t a big boat with lots of people because apparently I am a high maintenance fisherman.

What a great fishing trip!!! Joe was the best captain. He helped with all aspects of the experience and he is the nicest guy. We caught 3 –4 different types of fish. The 6 people on the boat caught 80 fish in total. I would highly recommend theirs charter fishing trip if you are ever in Santa Cruz
