I went last night to Aikido Santa’ Cruz’s introductory class. It’s a good deal at 70 bucks, or you can pay 150 for two months and your uniform. I was kind of nervous, as I’ve tried karate and really didn’t like it. Aikido is totally different! When I showed up to the dojo, the parking lot was packed! I backtracked a little up Mission and parked by the public park where parking was plentiful. Everyone at the studio was very welcoming and helpful. They even have little flyers that you can take home about Aikido etiquette.(This same info is available on their website so I recommend saving the paper on that one, but it’s nice to have if you aren’t overly computer oriented.) The instructors, Dennis sensei and Louise sensei were very friendly and approachable. The class was very fun and lighthearted. We started with warm ups and some philosophy, then got going into practical exercises which felt a lot more like dancing than what I expected a martial art to feel like. I can’t wait for my second class! Thanks, Aikido Santa Cruz!!!
