Beautiful store run by beautiful people! What a great resource in Santa Cruz county!

The ladies who work here could not be any nicer.
I have come several times for books, gifts and trinkets. never disappointed. They also have a large card collection in the back.

This is a Catholic bookstore in downtown Santa Cruz. Downstairs they offer the usual gifts, sacramentals (rosaries, candles, scapulars) and a wide variety of books. Upstairs, they sell uniforms for the local Catholic school.
They do have a rather good variety of Catholic books, especially in the writings of the saints, prayer manuals and theology, and their wares range from very intellectually-​demanding to the very lowbrow. In other words, from the Summa Theologica to the little blue Pieta.
They could have a larger collection of Latin Mass prayerbooks. They have 1962 Missals and a Vulgate New Testament, but not much else in the traditional publications. They could also have more for our Eastern Rite brothers.

«Agnus Dei, good morning!»
«Hello, I was wondering if you had any books about spirituality centers in the United States, kind of like a travel guide?»
(Abruptly, without feeling, probably without even thinking) «No.»
(Confused as to why I am receiving such unempathetic customer service from a CATHOLIC BOOKSTORE) «Okay, do you know of any other stores or places where I could find such information?»
(Again, abruptly, without feeling) «The internet.»
At this point I just hung up. I mean, c’mon, the bookseller could have phrased this a little better! I will definitely never ever EVEN even consider purchasing anything from a store that has a policy of sending customers to the INTERNET when there are over 4 million books currently in print.
Blech. Don’t waste your time.
