Rattler’s Bar B Que

I like this place. The ribs are really good and the dinner salad bar is worth trying. My wife loves their Blue Cheese Burger. Their garlic rolls are REALLY good. The only thing that I don’t like is that my wife and I have gone there a little later in the evening and they are out of ribs. Really? A rib joint running out of ribs? What’s wrong with this picture? If that is the case then how do they manage to have ribs available for the next day’s lunch rush? Rib fairy’s? Definitely a place worth trying just be sure to go early enough to get what you want before they run out for the day.

I’ve eaten here several times over the years and it honestly my fav BBQ place around. That speaks volumes cause I make the drive from Palmdale to get here. Even just arriving, the overwhelmingly good smell leaves me drooling.
Let’s start off with their Bread rolls. Omg carb heaven! They’re drenched in this buttery garlic mess and are So. Freaking. Good! Their chicken is just the best! I always get the BBQ Chicken breast with mashed potatoes and every time it’s excellent. Their standard BBQ sauce on the table is SO tasty. I pick off the skin on my chicken cause it grosses me out but otherwise it’s delicious. And their mashed potatoes are unreal– just so much flavor.
This place is very kid friendly. I had lunch here today with my girlfriend and our 3 very loud kids and they were accommodating and very nice.

AMAZING!!! ***** My sister, her two boys and I took my dad tonight for Father’s Day dinner and after we received our food the waiter came up to us and told us that we were the 100^th customer and the bill would be paid for on the house and we could order anything we wanted to while we were there :) what an amazing night and how awesome this place is! We were all mind blown this has never happened to us before and it was such a blessing and I highly recommend this place to everyone !! Great service and even with how busy it was we were to a table with no more than 10 min wait, our orders came right away and we were treated so well. Thank you so much Rattlers !!!

Ordered to go and a dozen of the garlic rolls were old and hard and lacking in flavor. The ribs was dry and didn’t really taste good. Shredded onion is ok, kinda soggy. The giant cookie is excellent though as well as the baked beans. The creamy coleslaw is too coarse. They could have chopped the cabbage a bit finer. Overall, it’s a bad experience. It’s not the same Rattler’s as it used to be many, many years ago. Quality is down the drain. The Tri tip was inconsistently cooked. One end was well done and the other end was bloody … I asked for a medium well. Not going back. Lucille is so much better now.

I’m a Diabetic I wasn’t feeling well so pulled in was going to have lunch anyway ! I walked in and immediately asked the girl do u have milk I’m a Diabetic. I need some milk «She replied we do in the restaurant area» could you get me some I don’t want to faint in your restaurant! milk or juice or 7-​up will bring up a low blood sugar! So I sat down as I was feeling lightheaded and they brought the milk.
We were then seated the (3) of e had to ask for rolls/​water. I’ve never been so disappointed.
I spoke to a MGR. a thin tall gray haired man to explain my disappointment he didn’t come by our table to see if I was feeling better or if there was anything he could get me/​us.
Not impressed with the management.
Don’t know if I’d consider giving Rattlers another chance!

Service here is ALWAYS great. The food is, on average ‘Good.’ There has been times that the ribs are a bit fatty or overcooked but having dined multiple times for over a year I feel that their beef ribs are the best in Santa Clarita Valley. Will continue to dine there with my family because of service, value and good food.

I love the food for dine in, but we recently had a terrible take out experience!
The food was cold, French fries were stale! Only half the food was edible.
Such a bummer!
I’ll still be a loyal dine in customer, but I’ll leave the takeout to Stonefire

I’ve been here a few times and always loved it. This time not so much. I came in tonight with a larger party. Someone in my party has a pork allergy so we ordered everything with no bacon. But bacon was still in it. It was all replaced which is nice but still a hassle. I’m not sure what was used or what happened but half my party is sick! I’m not sure whether it’s bad cleaning or preparing but half of a large party to be sick is not normal. Don’t think I’ll be returning.

Ok, this place is awesome! The food is magnificent, the staff are super friendly and it’s probably one of my favorite sit down restaurants in my area. I actually saw one of the waitresses get cussed at and that customer was some older dude and he seemed to be a douche. The waitress actually took the situation somewhat well, and if I were in her shoes, I probably would have socked the dude or something.

But other than that, what I like to order is their cheeseburger with fried onions and their barbq sauce and OH MAN is it mouthwatering. Again, love this place. Keep up the good work for everyone who works at Rattlers!

Normally love this place. We ordered take out from here, there charged me for the wrong bill (our bill should have been $ 30, they charged me $ 65 and they said it would take 3 days to reverse the charges). Then I get home and they gave me the wrong food. I had to drive All the way back to get the right food, which was not ready when I arrived. I had to wait another 10 minutes.
We have been regulars here for a long time, and they have now lost my business

I eat here all the time with my family, came in with my girlfriend on a Saturday night to pick up some food. I ordered the 8 oz. lemon garlic salmon ($ 15.99), luckily my girlfriend checked the food before we left, the salmon they gave me was a bite size 2 oz. piece??? I was here the night before with my family, ordered the same lemon garlic salmon and it was triple the size of this? I complained to one of the employees, waited 25 minutes for another piece of salmon, received a slightly bigger piece (approximately 5 oz.), by this time the rest of my food (an $ 80 order) was cold. I asked to speak with manager regarding this ridiculous issue, (Paulette the manager) was the rudest person I’ve ever encountered at a restaurant, when I explained the issue at hand, her solution was to take my food back, refund me, leave me empty handed and send me on my way??? The woman has no customer service skills whatsoever and should be fired. By this time my girlfriend and I were upset, frustrated, and hungry, we ended up taking the cold food home with no comped items in hand. I will never return here, and my family that has come here for years will not be returning either. Great resolution Paulette!

The waitress Nancy was slow and appears to be discriminative, then she over charged us for a salad.
My coworkers and I eat there every week and we advised the witness that we’re on lunch break so she can put on our orders and get our check to us as soon as possible. She took 15 minutes to put in our order, never came back to check on us. She checked on other tables twice but not once came back to check on our table. It took 20 minutes to get our drinks and 60 minutes to get our check. She told us the salad was $ 3.99 and then charged us $ 4.99. She deliberately over charged us and did not apologize. She was not friendly and was slow.

This is probably the best BBQ I’ve ever had! The chicken is always delicious, never dry. Their tri tip is always perfectly cooked and tastes so good. I also looove their baked beans. Been coming here forever and finally decided to write them a Unilocal review for their fantastic food and great service.
Always great service, especially today. I placed an order for their BBQ chicken and chopped chicken salad. Caitlin, who took my order sounded very nice and sweet on the phone and the same when I came by to pick up my food. She checked to make sure everything was there, which I always appreciate. The food was amazing as always and definitely one of the best here in SCV.

The nachos with pork are just amazing!
Street tacos are average and more that they have «Las Delicias» in front.
Good service at the bar and ribs are the house special.

So up in the SCV and craving something for lunch and boom Rattler’s appears in a cavernous strip mall parking lot. I am completely unfamiliar so I look on Unilocal,mixed reviews but mostly trending upward and a local fav.
Immediately we were greeted, seated and watered within minutes and they were very busy.
A plus on first impressions. As we looked over the menu I couldn’t help but notice the
large portions and big plates on neighboring tables. Having big slab of ribs or a hunk of tri-​tip is of course meat lovers heaven but I wanted to stay awake after lunch so I passed. We opted for the the more practical choice of a salads and a burger. They also brought out some
garlic rolls that were hot and fresh… those with no will power be fore warned you will binge on those little carb devils and be stuffed before your food arrives.
BBQ Chicken Salad– Take a look at the coloring on the chicken which I found a bit odd. None the less the chicken was tender and flavorful if not all that BBQ chicken appearing.
Decent greens too and a large portion, overall a decent and satisfying salad.
Bacon Cheeseburger with fries and onion strings– This looks far larger because of the massive pile of onion strings. A good burger for the cost of what most fast food chains are charging these days for their run of the mil stuff.
Once our food came they got increasingly busy and the refills and the return service was o.k. but we did need to flag her down a couple of times. No big deal and the staff were super friendly and attentive given the rush.
Only 3 stars because I can’t say the salad alone would bring me back and I didn’t try any of their actual BBQ. Still I would return and give Rattler’s menu a second go around.

I’ve been wanting to eat here for maybe 10 years or so, but I never made it out until tonight.
I asked the server for the best item on the menu. He told me to get the tri-​tip and asked me how I wanted it prepared. I told him however way it would be best. He said «medium» would be best.
I ordered the special for the night which included a visit to the salad bar, tri-​tip, and a side of cole slaw.
I waited an unbelievable long time to get my order with no apology. The kitchen must have been backed up.
When my plate of trip-​tip and cole slaw arrived, it was the saddest looking piece of meat I’ve ever seen. No sense of presentation as it looked so sloppy. I forced myself to eat this overcooked dry, tough piece of meat covered in sauce that couldn’t even help, because the sauce was pretty bad too. I didn’t even want to take a picture of any of the food here.
Not only did the plate look unappetizing, it was the worst barbecue I’ve tasted in my life. The cole slaw was dryer than usual and the salad bar presentation was messy as things were all in disarray.
I can understand if you live in the SCV and have not other choice but to eat here and other chain restaurants. It’s probably been around because there aren’t many other options in the area and people don’t want to make the drive into the city for better food. Good for them!
If you don’t live in the SCV (like me), skip this restaurant as it’s just not worth it to drive out to. There are so many better options in LA. Not even the fresh garlic rolls can bring me back for a revisit.
I felt like asking for a refund after dinner because it was such a bad experience, including the service felt a bit lacking.
If tri-​tip is the best thing on the menu, I’m worried about the other options to eat at Rattler’s.
It’s family owned and it doesn’t even have a family-​owned vibe. It feels like a chain restaurant just like its sister restaurants, Wood Ranch and Stone Fire Grill.
Go try the tri-​tip at Tri Tipps in Valencia. They make a better tri-​trip than Rattler’s.
