Jjajang and jjampong and tang suyuk have very good flavor the pieces could be a lil bigger. But overall portions are good and love that the noodles are handmade. The prices are really affordable also.

stumbled upon this place since we were in area, originally walked into other two restaurants in plaza and this was the spot with the friendly but rushing hostess lady. I was unsure of everything but after being greeted and was served some warm tea, I finally decided on Udon Noodle the bf had Gan Poong Ki w/beef and Stir Fried Ride with Beer. Service was fast friendly and food was very good especially knowing they make their own noodles, well that’s what menu said This place is very small but well worth it, definitely will be trying again if in area

I’ve probably been here about 3 times in the last 2 years and nothing has really changed. They give you a good amount for what you pay for. Korean music videos or concerts play on the tv by the door, friendly family run restaurant. This isn’t my go to place cause I like a meatier zazang mein filled with beef or seafood but for a simple plain black bean sauce over noodles and rice at a reasonable price this place does a good job. Definitely filling and the only complaint I have would be that there sometimes is not enough sauce. However! if you just ask for more sauce when ordering, they add a bit more to the dish which was nice. I always get the noodle and rice combo!

One of the good restaurants which serves great food and still, some how manages to keep the price reasonable.

You come here for one thing and one thing only, food. The menu is small, with the clear highlights being the noodles true to its name. The portions are generous for sure. Each of us got a dish and we all had leftovers enough for another meal. The #18 with shrimp was a highlight. A big plate of fried battered shrimp and a big bowl of spicy vegetable sauce for you to dip in. I got the #19 jap chae, and a mountain of noodles showed up. Lots of peppers and onions in there, almost too much on the peppers. I did wish there was a bit more beef in it too. Pretty skimp on the ban Chan with only a black bean sauce, raw onions and pickled turnip. The portion of the entrees leave you full though.

My first time trying this kind of Korean food(pretty much NOT korean bbq). My friend warned me that it’s a type of flavor that someone as picky as me would have to be open to adjusting to. Super cheap for the portions that they serve. Quick turnaround time for food. I got Gan Za Zang(black bean pasta sauce sauteed with vegetables). The taste, indeed, was different… and interesting. A little dry, but I think that’s what it’s supposed to be like? I think I’ll stick to kbbq, but that’s just my preference. Nothing against the restaurant itself.

The service here is phenomenal! Our waitress was super nice and friendly, even though she didn’t speak much English. She refilled our barley tea(they serve everyone hot barley tea!) and let us sit and talk for a while. I got the Gan Za Zang with beef. It took me a while to figure out the difference between this and the regular, but it seems like this one has a thicker sauce and more veggie toppings. The noodles were of a perfect consistency. The portion size was very generous for a good price. The only thing was that my noodles ended up too salty after I mixed all of the sauce and noodles together. Overall this was a pretty good place and I’d come back!

Everything under $ 10 and dirt cheap for big portions. Not the best(not much flavor or spice), but you get your food pretty quick. I can’t say if I like korean jjajangmyeon or chinese jjajangmyeon better since this was my first time having the korean version and didn’t try a variety of the Chinese version. Place is really tiny… like left side is a line of tables and right is restaurant stuff. I had the combo jjajangmyeon and jampong. Bowel was big! Couldn’t finish noodles. Total before tip was a little less than $ 20 with the jjajang rice. Jamppong is not spicy when it should’ve been, but ok. It’s next to the big dollar tree where Vesúvio use to be. Some Koreans dining in so it looked like a good sign for me. Sides:black bean sauce, raw onions and takuwan.

Reminds me of childhood every time I come here. My family would always come regularly to the Zazang back in Cupertino before it went out of business, but was glad to find out this store existed a few cities away. Every time I come home from school, my father and I always come here for old times sake. We usually go with the zam pong(spicy seafood noodles), zazyun myun(noodles w/black bean paste), fried rice that comes with black bean paste, and dumplings. What I like is that there are combo plates, so you can have 2 of the 3 noodles/fried rice listed above in a bowl that is perfectly sectioned in half. The consistency of the noodles are second to none and the lady that works here is one of the sweetest characters I have ever met in the restaurant world. Be wary that the place is pretty small and gets packed during lunch, but definitely recommend checking this place out.

I had both the black bean and zzampong(spicy seafood) noodles here. Noodles: The noodle is indeed good. Very consistent in terms of done-ness. Not over cooked, still a bit chewy. I guess al-dente. Between the black bean and zzampong noodles, I prefer zzampong. The soup is very tasty, not simply spicy. Would definitely go back.

Yaaaass. Delicious, cheap – what more could you ask for? After moving to the South Bay, I had a hard time locking down a place to get Jajangmyun – I’d heard tales of a place in Lawrence Food Court but I ultimately discovered it’d been shut down – after a little bit more searching, I stumbled upon Zazang. The food is delicious here – granted, I usually get the same thing(the #1 with a half order of fried potsickers). I’ve been meaning to try the Jajangmyun/Jampong combo, just to see how it stacks up against some of the other restaurants similar to this one and I’ll be sure to update my review when I do. All in all though, Zazang is quality. I’ve made repeat orders to this place and I’m sure I’ll keep doing so!

Uh dude why did I come back a second time? My original plan was to eat Nak Kung in the Lawrence Food Court but according to the neighboring restaurant, they closed down last year. Around the time I left PBSC. Anyway, Timothy L. and I were craving black bean noodles. I know how to make it by scratch and sometimes I even eat the Paldo instant version. Didn’t want instant or take the time to make it so we hit up this place. Interior? Small and looks like a hole in the wall. The lady in the front greeted us and asked us to sit anywhere we liked. I love noodles and was drawn in by how cheap it was. I got #14 which is the half seafood noodle soup and half black bean, while Tim got the #1 which is just black bean. We were given iced waters and complimentary pickled radish, onions and a tangy brown sauce. I love the radish, it’s a palette cleanser! Service was extremely slow and the waitress never bothered to refill our waters even though she saw our empty cups and no one else was there at the time we were. We actually felt sick after our meal and noticed their utensils and bowls weren’t the cleanest. Second time, Tim and I came back to give this place another chance. The waitress remembered us and our orders but I was a little frustrated that it took almost 30 minutes for my food to come out. Tim had to leave before me so he paid my share in advance since there’s a $ 10 card minimum. As I finished my food I told the waitress my boyfriend had already paid for my meal. She told me otherwise… so I thought Tim was joking with me. I’m proceeded to the front to hand her my card and she said«it’s ok». I’m confused, was she trying to steal money from me or just be playful because I couldn’t quite understand her. She doesn’t speak much English, looks serious all the time and talks to me in Korean even though I tell her I’m not Korean. Service is too slow and sometimes I admit, I lose my patience because I assume it’s a fast food place and food comes out quick since the waitress told me their sauces and whatnot are premade??? I don’t know, I probably won’t return anytime soon and spend the money to make it at home myself.

omg if you havent tried black bean noodles(jajangmyun), you HAVETOGOHERE. its basically a must. Thats the only thing i get here and its so delicious. The portion is huge, I can barely finish the bowl by myself. I can only do it if I’m SUPER hungry. Beware, it gets kinda salty from all the flavoring and grilled onions, so help yourself to the pickled radish and water. The place is a smaller establishment, kinda mom and pop feel to it. So it gets packed really easily and it gets hot from cooking inside! Service can get kinda slow, unfortunately. Most of the time i dont mind because I’m busy slurpinggg up those noodles. If you wanna pay with card, you need to get over $ 10, but the huge bowl of noodles are usually that around that amount, so it shouldnt be a problem. Parking is okay, since its a medium sized lot. But this place will be kind of hard to find if you dont know where to look, so try and spot the Dollar Tree sign that should be next door.

Walao, it’s the best I ever had, who knew the truth about this place. For me it’s my first Korean restaurant that I have been to in the state of California。I went to a few Korean places in Houston but this place really pleased me. I ordered a Spicy noodle soup and an Udon here. The portions here are to die for. They are the biggest any Korean place can give you. Once I took my first dip of the spoon the taste of both was a blast. It had a certain appeal to it that a lot of other Korean places don’t. For parking it’s no biggie because it can get really rowdy. If you are in a rush feel free to come here. The staff here is really friendly. I was serviced by a Korean lady who was really friendly. If you are the type of person who likes to drink they have some great Soju too.

ZAZANG If you like Korean black bean noodles, this is the place to go. The zazang myun is quite tasty here. They come in the regular style and spicy style(the better one). You can also order the combo. The one I ordered was the regular zazang and spicy seafood noodle soup. Comes out in a black and red-looking combo. With the noodles, you also get a small plate of the zazang sauce with white onions and pickles. The noodles are hand-made and delicious! Atmosphere-wise, though, the restaurant is kind of a hole-in-the-wall. Decent service, though. The only real drawback of eating zazang myun is the lack of hearty meat, as the dish consists of mainly noodles and black sauce with onions and small chunks of meat. But give this place a try, as it is totally different from your typical Chinese, Vietnamese, or Japanese-style noodles.

This is a cozy joint next to big mug on the el casino street. I wasn’t too impressed. The flavored as mentioned in other reviews were lacking depth in their flavor. Albeit, not bad and more for a quick meal — there definitely are better places out there. I like tong soon garden way better. We got: — jajangmyun: the noodles were chewy and a tad sweet. The flavor wasn’t really substantial and seemed like something anyone could have made. Sweet and sour pork: it wasn’t that good. The sauce was too strong and I found myself picking the ones without sauce. The deep fry batter wasn’t bad though. Deep fried potstickers: your regular potstickers nothing special. The service was was okay. We asked for extra noodles and at first she said it was $ 2 and then she said it was $ 3 and then we told her no thanks. She then brought the noodles anyways, she probably didn’t understand us. But whatever no harm no foul Ambience was okay, seems more of a to-go joint.

Came in here looking for jajangmyun. It’s decent, but lacks some depth of flavor. I found it a bit bland and needed to add some of the pickles and such that accompanies the noodles. It was okay, but I’ve had better tasting jajangmyun. They are quick, but the restaurant is small. I would say it can fit about 30 – 35 people. It’s like a long hallway. I might come back to try the combo plate and the Tang Sue Yuk. They accept CC if the bill is above $ 10.

I was craving for some black bean noodle(jajangmyun) and literally, from where I am from there is no nearby area that sells it. There is just one store about 15 minutes drive but that does not include the traffic. Usually whenever I go to this area, I always stick to the Lawrence Plaza. This time I wanted to try it at a store itself. Came in and was greeted properly. The waitress was super nice and friendly. She always made sure that everything was going well. The store itself was tiny, I guess that is how it is but it did not bother me. On a Monday and a good amount of people. Not bad. I like how neat and easy things are around the store. The food was on point. I really enjoyed the food that I had to get another bowl. The menu was small and simple. Definitely I am coming back and I’ll recommend my friends if they ever crave for it.

Another review for motherland cuisine! A party of two had: — Tangsuyuk(sweet and sour pork): The frying is great, and the flavor itself was authentic. The sauce could have better, deeper flavor, and especially compared to the restaurants back in Korea, this doesn’t really compare. Tip: Put soy sauce + a little bit of vinegar + red pepper flakes and dip the pork in the sauce. The salty sauce will complement the sweet pork very well! — Jjam-jjamyun(Jjamppong + jjajangmyun): Here also, the flavor is authentic. The jjajang sauce, again, does not have deep flavor. It could have been stir-fried a little more. The jjamppong could have been spicier. Most importantly, the dish was served slightly cooled, and it could have been tastier if it were hot. To say the least, this really doesn’t compare to what I remember from Korea. In short: This is the best alternative I can find in the bay area, but I don’t think I will come here again unless I am dying to have jjajang/jjampong/tangsuyuk.

Their jajangmyun was soo good. I was studying next door at Big Mug Café, and the wifi slowed down, so I came to Zazang for dinner. Their dining room was completely full even before 6 pm, so I could only get the jajangmyun to go. Ten minutes later, I got my carry out order, and it had takuwan(the yellow pickled radish slices), raw onions, the black bean sauce, and homemade noodles. I mixed the ingredients together, and the tasty result could quell the chaos in my heart. Jajangmyun is strongly recommended for April 14th, or «Black Day.»
