I LOVE shigoljip when I’m craving some good old korean food. The customer service here is welcoming, and I love how everything tastes here that I’ve tried. My family enjoys take out and dining in here both. The restaurant itself is small and has a small packed parking area since it’s by other small businesses as well. It’s clean and neat inside with many tables. All the ladies that work here always have a smile on, and is really welcoming to everyone. I highly highly recommend their gamja tang. It’s a potato and pork korean soup/stew. It’s hard to find a restaurant that makes the dish just right, but shigoljip does it absolutely perfectly. The flavors are really amazing in their soup. This is my go to whenever I’m craving this soup. Overall, a really good restaurant to go to for fast take out or dine in with excellent customer service.

Dine at this Korean restaurant by chance. Welcomed and served by two kind and warm Korean hostesses. Ordered grilled beef. It was great portion(that could serve two people without problem), great taste as well. It took me 50 minutes to eat up the whole meal, by the end of which I was totally filled up. They serve typical Korean food — BBQ, kimchi, etc, with good taste. Overall very enjoyable experience!

The food here is FANTASTIC and the service is Awesome! The Fried mandu(potstickers) are THEBEST! So are the Mul Mandu(steamed potstickers) The short rib beef(galbi) is also delicious! If you like fish, the egg battered fish is awesome(seng sun jun) as is the grilled mackerel(geo dung uh gui) If you like spicy and you like seafood, you can get the spicy squid stir fry(oh jing oh bokum) If you like really spicy, you can get the Dukkbokki… spicy rice cakes and fish cakes,…though it’s more of a side dish… If you like spicy soup, the YukKe Jang(spicy beef) is delicious! If you like traditional Korean… Daen jang jiggae(soybean paste soup) is great! If you are a vegetarian, the stir fried veggie dish is delicious! So many good things to eat there! You just have to try it yourself!

So what happens when you try to go to the place next door and it’s closed? You end up walking into Sigoljip. Like all the others say, the banchan side dishes are pretty good. It’s self service, so help yourself to a vegetarian buffet! Kimchee, radish, broccoli, eggs, potatoes, fish cake, watermelon etc. All pretty tasty. The menu consists of way too many pages of way too many items. Who knows what the specialty here is. Unilocal doesn’t even know. That’s saying something. I ended up ordering fish roe tofu soup. It wasn’t the best tofu soup I’ve had, and it was on the bland side. Maybe it was just healthy? and had little to no msg?

All you can eat, self serve, side dishes, need I say more? Plus their calbi is one of the best I’ve had in a long time.

What? I haven’t reviewed this place? As an authentic Korean who used to be fobby kid, I approve. Their lunch specials are reasonably priced possibly to compete with Korean food court down the street. You may think they sacrifice quality, but the dish I always order — grilled jack are special with rice and japchae — has never disappointed. The service is attentive and always friendly — bonus, they are family-friendly. The ahjummas love our kids(currently 4 year old and 13.75 months old). They bring out a little bowl of soup and rice for the kids with… Get this, all you can eat buffet of ban chan. No need to harass the ahjummas. Love it! I feel like I am at someone’s home. Now that’s a huge compliment.

It’s home cooking Korean style! The people are nice, but service is kind of slow. I thought they had ayce banchan during dinner time, but it wasn’t. :-( We used metal chopsticks and it came with 8 banchans(I asked for the tamago because I wanted to try it: p): kimichi, daikon kimchi, fish cake, white jelly like cake with some black sauce on top(don’t know what it’s called), salad with dressing(iceberg lettuce with some white dressing… why??), tamago(but it was bland), broccoli, bean sprouts, braised potatoes(not sure in what but it was soft and had good flavor). We ordered: Bulgogi –It didn’t have that nice sear to it, it seemed boiled, could of been better Seafood soup –I liked this, first time having it brought to you bubbling in it’s small pot and having the lady crack an egg on to it –Seafood wasn’t overcooked Spicy rice cake with ramen noodles –Someone…wanted this, so we ordered it. It was a first time eating rice cake. The flavor was nice, but I thought the rice cake was too hard or maybe Kdramas have led me to believe they’re like those tight rice rolls at dim sum. Black Goat(stir fried) –The lady asked me twice if I wanted this. Um… yeah! But when it came, it was surprising on the amount of garnishes it came with it, lots of garlic, green onions, mustard leaves(?), some sort of paste like shrimp? The taste was good, but I’m not too keen on eating so much green onions and garlic, so we just ate the meat, and after our dinner, our server told us that we should bring the rest of the garnishes home to eat because the garnishes were expensive. We brought it home and ate them the next day. Strangely, the garlic didn’t make my breath smell and the garnishes had good flavor. –WARNING: they include the skin of the goat, so food might be chewy Overall: The food seems homely. I didn’t get that msg tingle when I got home. I might come back for the ayce banchan for lunch if I was around the area. It’s a-hole-in-a-wall place and parking is not easy. One must park at the back and you can technically walk into the restaurant from the back.

Came here with my Korean gf for lunch. I had the seafood tofu soup and she dubokki. Honestly, food not so great n I hate how I have to get my own banchan. It’s limited items n it runs out quick cuz ppl grab all the good stuff n they didn’t even refill it when I was there. Soup bland, banchan horrible n limited. Service I dunno I never see her cuz the server is always in the damn kitchen chit chatting. Sorry wouldn’t come back for sure.

I am a fan! Yummy. I got here for the dinner on the day when I ran 5 miles and didn’t eat lunch… so I was super hungry. I got beef bi bim bap, chciken. I was satisfied! All the samll dishes and free pancakes made 2 big eaters including me full. The service was also good. Definitely I’ll come back.

I came here on Sunday, July 28 with my mom to try their Black goat meat soup. Black goat meat soup is really hard to make at home, so it’s best to find a restaurant that can cook it well. So far this restaurant can make it really tasty and you can’t even smell goat. I really like the idea of getting your own ban-chans, instead of the waitress bringing to you from the kitchen. It’s great so you won’t waste it. The ban-chans includes: napa kimchi, cucumber kimchi, sliced radish kimchi, cooked bean sprouts, marinated potatoes, fish cakes, iceberg lettuce and pan fired eggs. For dessert it’s watermelons. The rice they provide to you is the purple rice. Overall, this place rocks with their black goat meat soup. I just wish they can add more vegetables to it.

This place is now under new ownership since the last time I was here. We ordered their Ssam Bap which tasted standard for any Korean restaurant on El Camino. Nothing really stood out but nothing was bad either. The service was what was expected at most Korean restaurants, sub-par. If you need something you’re going to have to ask. If you cannot speak Korean, communication will consist of hand gestures and a handful of broken English. The place was fairly busy for a weekend dinner service. I will be back someday if I run out of places to try. Towards the end of the meal they brought out Korean pancakes on the house(calling it «service»!). This earned them another 5 bucks for tip! This place would be better for larger groups where Soju and beer could potentially liven the restaurant.

I came here with my family and everyone had a pleasant experience. We ordered the Ssam Bap(which I feeds 2 – 3 people), Dan Jang Bi Bim Bap, and Al Jji Gae. The SSAMBAP was delicious; it came with your choice of 2 meats, we got squid and chicken, a side of vegetables you can wrap the meat in, and Dan Jang Jji Gae(soy bean soup). The Al Jji Gae tasted fresh and spicy(YUM). I probably would not order the Dan Jang Bi Bim Bap again not because I didn’t like t but because I rather try something new. They even gave us Korean Pancake on the house. The service was good and all 4 of us left full and happy for around $ 55. I would definitely return to this place.

One of my old bosses loved this place while one of my co-workers even though he said, there was an herb that offends him in Korean cooking, came anyways. Got some of the usuals, short rips, seafood pancakes, spicy pork. Those were solid. However they have some many things that you don’t see like the black goat soup. Once I saw that I had to have it. Of course my chicken ass co-worker wouldnt try it at first then he broke down to peer pressure. Very unique flavor. I can’t say ive had this anywhere else. Now whenever we refer to Korean food and my old co-woker, his nick name is the black goat soup.

Food is OK but the service sucks!!! I think the owners have recently changed cuz the prices went up too! 2 soups and some potstickers totalled to be $ 50! WT! It’s definitely family owned, cuz the whole family is having«family» dinner watching TV. They were not attentive at all and basically took our order unwillingly(like it was an inconvenience to their evening television show and sloppily served our food, splilling soy sauce and kimchee on our table during the service. When we needed an extra side dish, or tried to get the check, we had to yell 3 times in Korean to get the owner to stop watching TV and pay attention. So annoying! There are so many other Korean options on El Camino who serve the at same taste level that I am going to avoid going there now. Too bad. The other owner used to be much much better! boo!

I had a craving for goat, so I dragged some friends to get the goat stew. It was peppery and goat-y, and it totally satisfied my craving. Other things we ate: — banchan: good variety and tasty — mandoo: tasteless — fried rice: average I’ll go back if I’m in the mood for goat stew again, but otherwise, probably not. Parking is kind of crazy too.

Sigoljib offer daily lunch special from Mon through Fri but most of them are about $ 8 – 9. except for two specials, spicy chicken and Bul-go-gi stew($ 6.95). Maybe this is average price for korean lunch items in this area but I didn’t find them any better than what I had in east coast. I wasn’t impressed by any of their dishes including side-dishes… Good place to come for bul-go gi lunch special, if you like bul-go-gi dish. Friendly serivce.

I’m not a korean food expert but I do know what I like. I’ve been to a korean restaurants and I like the bibambab here the best. I wouldn’t order anything else here since they’re not as good as some of the korean restaurants in the area. I just wish I took the picture before mixing everything. I was so hungry I just couldn’t wait. this dish almost has all your major food groups. meat(beef, egg)… GOOD! vegetables(spinach, carrots, cucumbers, radishes)… GOOD! grain(rice)… GOOD! give me a glass of milk and it’s all covered! =) all this in a HOT sizzling bowl. definitely perfect for a cold day. oh yeah, I can’t forget about the side dishes. this place gives the most side dishes compared to the other korean restaurants in the area plus they’re not skimpy with refilling them. their side dishes consist of bean sprouts, salad, seaweed, tofu, potatoes, radishes, cucumbers, of course, kimchi, and finally the anchovies. nobody else offers anchovies. I was shocked that they had it so I just had to take a picture to prove it. all this for $ 11! not bad for all this. if you get bored you can watch the korean channel on their lcd tv. =)

A 3 star for the food. I’m bumping it up to a 4 star because they stay open until 11pm, and because of the friendly service. We had the bulgogi and the dol sot bi bim bap. Good sized portions for the price. The bulgogi was about $ 10.95 and the meat was tender and tasty. The bi bim bap was okay too, nothing outstanding in my opinion. Pan chans were standard with kim chi, seaweed, cucumbers(theses tasted really fresh), fish cake, etc. Dinner for two including one large OB beer was $ 30 pre tip.

Friendly service, big portions, good food. That’s what you’ll get at Sigoljip Korea BBQ. This is a no-nonsense place that has a big menu. Literally and figuratively. For those not familiar with Korean food, that’s a good thing, since this menu is large enough to have pictures to show you what you’re ordering. They have just about everything on the menu, from the chap che(glass noodles) to seafood in spicy sauce, to the ever popular tofu stew, and even a few things that I’ve never seen before. Quantity over quality is not a bad thing, depending on your priority at that given moment. This place had the most banchan I’ve ever had, and they are always quick to refill any that runs out. Since we had so much food, we had lots to take home… and they even added a free serving of rice with our takeout. Great value, acceptable taste, better than average service.

Korean deliciousness! I finally came here for lunch and was so happy with the food. The price was right, and the portions were too. Each of us got the lunch specials #1 through #4. I had the #1 — which was Korean BBQ Pork. And that was for $ 7.95. The lunch special comes with the melon soup, a good portion of rice, and the meat you’ve chosen. The banchan is always refillable, so you’ve got quite a few great sides to accompany your meal. My favorites are the pickled cucumbers, marinated potatoes, bean sprouts, and kim chi. I also tried the #2 — BBQ beef and the #4 the BBQ chicken. The chicken, while tender, was not as good as the #1 and #2. The #3 short ribs also looked really good, but my co-worker was not about to give that up for me to try! So sadly, I can’t review that. But since I’ve been here for dinner, I know the short ribs are great. All in all, good place for lunch — great value and taste!
