Safeway

Long ass lines and long ass waits with clerks who especially the brown haired guy manager. Should a got his name. He is always mad about being at the cash register and never wants to bag groceries. I’d put my bag there and he ignores it. I ask him for help and he waves someone else but it’s short staffed. So I’m waiting and waiting and waiting. I’ll just bag my own shit.

I used to shop at the Safeway in Rivermark, but have been shopping at this location after I moved to central Santa Clara.
Though not as new and big as the Safeway in Rivermark, this one is less crowded, meaning shorter check out lines and easier parking. It has all the things I usually shop for so I don’t have a problem with their inventory.

Totally forgot to put in my club card and the lady realized after I had already paid and reminded me and was able to refund me the discount I should have gotten! Good deeds go a long way

I just give 3 star review to small. They need to expanded the store… they need to add more meat section. They need to copy the safeway in rivermark and safeway at el camino Sunnyvale. They have more selection and its not hard to see the sign.

Why does one bother to review a safeway? This is the second safeway I have found worthy of a bad review… for the same reason: please remove produce and other fresh foods that have passed their expiration date. It seems like 1 out of every 2 trips I get something that is past expired. It is so convenient though, so owners, please try a little harder :(

Every time I come to this store I want to stick a needle in my eye. But it is close to my work. Emails to corporate and complaints to store management result in no improvement. They don’t care. I go here for the deli cold 8-​piece fried chicken about twice a week. It is hit or miss whether they have it in stock. Got there about 11:00 a.m., figured it was early, they would surely have it. Nope. Asked the deli clerk if they had any. He had no idea what I was talking about and led me to the chicken wings, then the hot roasted chickens. Finally determined that they were «out.» At 11 a.m. OK, they had the hot fried chicken, for $ 2.00 more, could I get that for the same price as the cold? No way. Horrible customer service.

I love the safeway steak chili! It is so good. Also, their chicken bacon avocado sandwiches are bomb. One time they didn’t have any aoili and made my sandwich warm on the outside but cold in the inside. This only happened once so my overall experience was amazing. Also, their fried chicken, mash potatoes, and gravy are really good as well. I recommend people trying their food some time.

Went for a deli sandwich at lunch and all the gredients looked horrible. The cheese had hard curled in edges like it had been out for days. Waste of time.

Love this Safeway. Houses everything for your daily needs. Fresh produce is very high quality only slightly expensive.
Meat, sea food and poultry are best in the entire area. Very fresh and all variety of cuts are available.
Bakery items are great too. Love their breads and savories. Cakes are okay though.
Staff is very helpful and the place is open round the clock.
Not a fan of their deli so much hence taking away one star. They have recently added a live counter of chicken wings. Salad bar, soup and sushi counter are okay as well.

Just got through the worst check out experience of my safeway shopping career. While the people in front of me did not Have many items, cashier stopped what she was doing, put on her glasses to assist a bagger. spent minutes chatting with him. She did not greet us, acknowledge the people waiting in her line, or apologize for any wait of any sort. Obsurd. Do not go to this Safeway.

This is to the Flower dept:
The bouquets were dry and didn’t look fresh, although I came here in the evening. The rest of the flowers were A-​ok, I was pretty disappointed with how the flowers looked since I usually come here to Safeway to pick some up.
Rather just go to whole foods instead…

This Safeway is 24 hours. I wouldn’t really come otherwise I think because I am super cheap and Safeway is quite expensive. Four stars for not needing to flip over 10 boxes of strawberries before I find one without any mold though. It’s spendy but the produce is of high quality here. I also like to pick up sushi here. It’s not bad and not as expensive as Sprouts sushi.
All my stars to the late night stock guy who I usually run into. It’s clear cashiering’s not his main gig but he seems like a stand up guy.

«Spotted: Drunk couple at Safeway drops whole case of Corona which spills all over the floor. Thinks I work there and asks if they can get another. Ignores me when I tell them I don’t work there. Tries to use three different phone numbers for a Safeway card (in 3 different area codes) and somehow none of them work so they pay full price for their beer. I should have bought popcorn.»

Only come here when I’m on this side of town. It a older Safeways that feels like it’s cramped up. if I lived around here a think I would take the drive down san Tomas to rivermart safeways.

So… yeah, I misplaced my ATM card, so I had to write a check. You would swear I was trying to rob them or commit felony check fraud by the way they handled my check. First it was denied by the cash register. Then the cashier had to call customer service. Then the assistant manager came and took me over to the customer service desk. Then I stood there literally listening to other employees smacking on Halloween candy, talking crap to each other while the guy was dealing with corporate on the phone. After a million questions, of course they took my perfectly good check.
Seriously my check was for $ 50 worth of groceries that I stopped in to buy while my son was at baseball practice. Hated this experience and I will never stray from my normal Safeway again!
Writing a check isn’t a crime. Yeah its a little out dated but they still work. Safeway didn’t need to be all drama.
ps… Yeah yeah yeah… «who writes checks anymore»? Well I do. I write them all day long to my sons schools, PTA, pictures, fieldtrips, walk-​a-​thons, I write them to daycare, I write them to school fundraisers for the kids of my co-​workers… etc…

Came here on Saturday for clam chowder but they didn’t have it… No soups were even out that day. Then we wanted to buy the big $ 5 sandwich and they didn’t have that either.
We decided to check out the signature café that was inside and it was the best idea ever!
The sushi they had there was surprisingly delicious, fresh, and inexpensive! My boyfriend ordered a large sandwich and it was really good. The lady (Madison) that was making them was really sweet. She made the sandwich perfect and with care.

Good store, mostly know where everything is and now that they have self checkout my in and out time has increased quite well :)

This place already has it’s bad reputation. Read other reviews. A health warning here for all shoppers who go here. I have found 3 times already that a whole batch of ground veal meat has surpassed it’s selling date. If you accept the challenge to shop here you might want to pay attention. Wish the FDA would close this place down.

I’m a Safeway regular here every Friday. Why? ‘Cause that’s when they have their $ 5 promo and it’s grrrrreat! The store has friendly staffs; they actually talk to their customers on the cashier’s end asking about their day, small talks and such. For the last 3 years, this Safeway has not let me down. They’re always ready to help and offer good service. Also, the shelves are fully stocked. There’s never been a time when I need something urgent and it’s not there! I love their coupons and personalized deals whether it be in the deli, meat, produce section. It’s always a good advantage to me when I’m saving a few bucks on my weekly groceries.
Sign up for a Safeway card membership. You will save a lot. Not only on weekly coupons and personalized deals, but also you can obtain gas rewards and utilize them at participating chevrons and texaco gas stations.
By the way, there’s a Starbucks store inside so grab a frap/​latte on your way out!

Have enjoyed the last few trips here. The staff has been very friendly and the prices are really good, especially on the meat markdowns.
The lot is big, but this location tends to attract a lot of people asking for money and they’re not outside of the store-they’re mostly patrolling the lot.
