31⁄2 stars. This place was kind of creepy getting to as soon as you park. you have to walk up the stairs, through a hall way and to the left is a cute little tea house. I’ve never been to a place like this, the ambiance was relaxing and calm. I enjoyed reading on the many teas and their health benefits. I ended up settling for the citrus tea – which i found to be okay. I think I’m just gonna settle for jasmine or green tea next time. They have an extensive menu so there’s a lot to choose from. It’s a great place to catch up with a friend over a cup of tea :)

Awesome green tea bingsu(shaved ice). Very relaxing atmosphere and a legitimate tea house. Just sad that it’s gone :( Cheers, T-Chung

I was a little nervous coming here; who wouldn’t after reading the ambivalent reviews on Unilocal?Luckily, my experience with Chasaengwon Tea House turned out to be pretty great. I love the convenient parking lot, and the fact that the tea house is a cozy size. We were seated immediately, seeing there was only a few people around at the time. You can choose to sit on the traditional chairs or go fancy sitting against the wall with the throw pillows. The menu was pretty neat, I liked reading about the benefits of each type of tea. Each tea selection comes in its own cup with the exception of Rose, Jasmine, and Chrysanthemum? — Don’t quote me on the last one. The owner was a little impatient when we kept asking for more time. Feeling a bit rushed, we ordered the Rose out of curiosity and for the benefit of relieving stress. We also ordered the green tea patbingsoo for dessert. The presentation of both items were so lovely. The tea comes in an incredibly tiny glass teapot which rests on a candlelit tea holder. The tea itself is a hypnotic red color which looks like a lava lamp! Definitely looks better in person. It was pretty annoying to make the tiny pot rest on it’s holder. It even comes with a thermos of hot water for refills. The taste of the tea itself is alright, I was surprised how sour it was, that was my first time with Rose Tea afterall. The patbingsoo was very nice portioned with bananas, strawberry, kiwi, mochi, and green tea icecream. incredibly delicious! From it’s overall appearance, I would say this spot would be pretty sweet for a cute/romantic date idea. But also a good place to just hangout, enjoy some tea, and grab a quick dessert.

When I first walked into this place it was really empty, but the host was really nice. My friend and I had dinner in Mountain view and wanted some desert. It was a nice night so we thought lets get some shaved ice. This place gave me crushed ice not shaved like snow ice around the corner on Lawrence express way. Don’t get the shaved ice here, I would have drank hot tea instead.

Come here for the tea, not the shaved ice. Probably the worst shaved ice I’ve had in my life. What yall are smoking, I want some of that shit cuz you guys must be on something to be thinking this place has good shaved ice. Go down the street to Snow Ice, 1000x times better.

I had teatime w/the girls here on a sunday. It was quite laid back and cute. There weren’t that many people. a couple of people were studying. The sweet and sour tea is okay. tasted like plum juice. LOL It’s $ 4 for majority of the teas. You can order it hot or iced. They even have snacks and food like porridge. THETHINGTOGETHEREIS $ 6 for shaved ice w/fruits red bean and ice cream: D YUM

I feel so comfortable and at home when I am at Chasaengwon Tea House. I love the cute and adorable decoration. What make it even better is that they are located on the second floor which mean you get the view of the street with cars passing and all the lights. I ordered shaved ice with green tea, fruits, and red beans. It was delicious and it is good to share with another person. I would definitely come back to this place. I forgot to mention that the restroom is not located inside the place so you have to walk down the hall to go to the restroom. My friend reminded me to add the part where there is a trash can bin to hold the door so there is no privacy and people can see you if they take a peek. It is a little creepy!

Mmm, I’ve never had Korean desserts before, but I really enjoyed the shaved ice here. We were impressed with the quality of the shaved ice: it was really fine & fluffy, not like the coarse, icy shaved ice that you get at a lot of other places. 3 of us shared 2 orders of shaved ice($ 6.50 per shaved ice). They were plenty big enough for us to share. * Fruit Shaved Ice with Ice Cream: you can pick the ice cream flavor(chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, or green tea). It comes with little mochis, fruit(kiwi, strawberry, banana), fruit-flavored jelly squares, and sesame flour. * Coffee Shaved Ice with Ice Cream: comes with chocolate ice cream, little mochis, corn flakes, raisins, and a drizzling of chocolate syrup. They also have an extensive menu of teas and a few cute little cakes, but we didn’t try those. It’s located on the 2nd floor of this crummy looking building that’s full of different Korean businesses, but Chasaengwon itself is pretty pleasant to sit in.

This place is so cute and cozy! Things i tried: Green tea shaved ice coffee ice cream shaved ice and cereal(Not on the menu– special) The green tea shaved ice was delicious! It was very flavorful and had a lot of fruit, jellies, & mochii which i like. But the shaved ice was not really shaved. The Coffee shaved ice was also delicious but different. If i came here for a second time, the coffee specialty shaved ice wouldnt be an option but it’s not bad. The coffee ice cream was very flavorful and the cereal was kind of odd to be added in but it still tasted very good. Atmosphere: This place is really cute w cute light decors. It’s very warm and cozy. It felt like home almost. It’s an upstairs business so you get to see a view from the window. The owner is really nice. It’s also a great place to study. I would totally come here to study if i lived in SJ. This place is a must try! I cant express how cute the place is! Stars: 4

This is a nice place to go and relax with your friends and enjoy some shaved ice deserts. They have a good selection of tea’s you wont find in most places. It’s also more private and unique compared to your local Starbucks and Peet’s coffee stores and since its tucked always on a second floor of a small office building its never busy with your espresso crowds. If your looking for a quite place to talk and relax without being distracted by everyone searching youtube on there laptops trying to look important than this is the place.

Came here on a late Wednesday night during one of the hotter summer days of this year. Only one other table when arrived and they soon left. The little lady came over and gave us our menus– the selection is not huge but they have a fair amount of choices for shaved ice and hot tea which is what our group ended up getting. I shared the combo shaved ice thingy which was pretty big. Never had Korean shaved ice before and was surprised to find brown sugar sprinkled amongst all the fruit and ice cream– not sure if I liked it. Overall atmosphere was pretty low key: korean tv on in the back and clean place. Interesting location(right above the Sees candy shop) and kind of funky when first walking upstairs– seemed more like an office building corridor.

This place is kind of hard to find. It’s right across from the KyoPo Korean Super Market, on the side with See’s Candies, on the 2nd floor of a small building. It looked a little shady to me, but it turned out to be charming on the inside. We ordered shaved ice with vanilla ice cream, red beans, fruits, etc. It was only $ 6.50. We also ordered an order of green tea ice cream($ 3). That was heavenly. Nom. One thing to note though, the owner is really nice, but cannot really speak English. We had a bit of a trouble communicating. But she was super friendly and helped us take pictures. :) I’d definitely return!!!

I’ve been wanting to try this tea house for a while now since I pass it all the time on El Camino. We managed to save room for dessert after our dinner just so we can stop by and try the much talked about Pat Bing Soo. This dessert was a huge bowl of shaved ice, fruit, mochi, peanut dust, condensed milk, and strawberry ice cream. The two of us could barely finish it. We also tried one of the teas(O Mi Ja?) I can’t remember the name, but it was supposed to help with coughs, which my boyfriend needed. The pinkish tea came in a clear plastic cup with seeds floating around. I thought it was cute how the teacup was placed on a doily with it’s own wooden tray. He said it was sweet and tasty, but it had nothing on traditional Chinese herbal teas as far as effectiveness. The environment was very relaxed and perfect for chatting it up with a friend or two. There’s a decent amount of seating and a flat screen playing Korean soaps for your entertainment. The owner also has a few tea sets and tea leaves for sale for those interested in making a purchase. I definitely plan on coming back for more Pat Bing Soo because it was seriously satisfying.

Cuz having tea on the 2nd floor is WAAAAAY better than having tea anywhere else. Haha. What I love about Chasaengwon: +Selection in unique types of tea +Cozy/comfy space(w/pillows) +Shaved Ice +Hidden gem spot +2nd flooooor! That pretty much sums it up. For real though, I like it cuz it’s peaceful and serene. People can come here to study or just to chop it up. It may not have the best view(since it overlooks El Camino Real) but it works. The hanging lights along the window help you forget about where you are and create a nice atmosphere. The lady that works here is nice(I don’t know her personally or anything, though.) Nights have only been the times I’ve come, where the true essence of the ambiance comes out. Good for groups. Good for dates. Good for one. Go and see.

We went to Chasaengwon Tea House — a Korean tea café– after dinner in Fmt. It’s a bit far but worth a stop if you’re in Santa Clara. It’s on the 2nd Floor in a Korean business building, right before See’s Candies on El Camino Real. We were the only ones in there around 7pm so we picked the big round table by the window. You’ll get a view of busy El Camino Real and the Valero across the street. Huge tea menu you can get Hot or Cold, Shaved Ice, and Three Soups: Pumpkin, Abalone, Red Bean Soup. We got: Brownrice green tea Cold $ 3.5 — large glass w/lots of ice & refreshing, light brownrice green tea. Tasted fine. Shaved ice w/red-bean, fruit, & ice cream $ 6.5 — I should have asked what kind of ice cream they got, she didn’t say anything. I ended up w/vanilla ice cream — boring, with some tiny cut up fruit, some sweet red bean, peanut powder, & lots of shaved ice on the bottom. I wish it was cheaper, but it was fine. Next time I’ll got the Shaved ice, fruit & ice cream w/Green Tea ice cream — No Beans! They have a TV which was playing Korean soap opera & then variety show. There’s a bunch of tables to enjoy your drink/shaved ice. 2 fans were going on so NO A/C. Bathrooms: Separate available outside the tea house, she gave me the key for the women’s. I was passing by this place with my friend and thought, hey let’s try it. and it was very cozy. It was decorated very nicely. When we first walked in, we weren’t sure what to do. because it partially looked like a store, but also like a restaurant. The prices were very cheap. everything was under five dollars. The owner is also a really nice korean lady, her english is kind of broken but you can tell that she’s so sweet, and everything in her tea shop was put together with a lot of thought. For the Ice cream, they give you two big scoops in a big bowl for like 3 dollars! that’s a pretty good deal, but the ice cream was decent. but then again it’s a tea house. not meant for fantastic ice cream. the tea though was awesome. I had a weird combo, green tea ice cream w/jasmine tea. but together they were so good. the ice cream took away the bitterness of the jasmine and the tea melted the ice cream in my mouth. yumm. They serve the tea in this clear glass kettle and you get to see the flowers blossom as the candle heats it up. it’s pretty neat. and when you poor it into the cups, its like the cup lights up with the liquid! and the cup is built in a certain way so that your hands don’t get burnt when holding it. I’m definitely coming back to try some of these new teas!

Located in a random looking apartment building converted into offices and this tea house is somehow nestled in as well. You have to walk upstairs and in a hallway that makes it look even more like a hotel/apartment. — Rose tea: The teapot was heated on top of the a cute little candle lit contraption along with clear mini tea cups. It smelled really fruity/rose-like, but there was only a hint of flavor. — Shaved ice with fruit, ice cream, and many other various ingredients: I am now a fan of Korean shaved ice! The portion size was huge and definitely enough to share amongst three. Not enough ventilation. Lots of sitting room. Upon walking in, we saw a bunch of older Korean men/women sitting around and they later disappeared instantly(we came quite late in the evening). TV was playing infomercials. The shaved ice is probably the only thing worthy of coming back for.

Can we have shaved ice($ 6.50) for dinner? How about some rose($ 4.50), and lotus($ 3.50) teas too? All of the above can be purchased at this tea house! So it’s hidden in an office building El Camino Real & Pomeroy Near Yogurt Works? Go upstairs, yeah kinda ghetto hallway? Wished it was in a better place Only liked the shaved ice Need to try this place again It was my first time at Cha Seng Won Tea House! And I actually didn’t quite enjoy my experience there. I don’t know if it was the location or the setting. But besides those two factors, I did however enjoy the BIGBOWL of shaved ice, red beans, strawberries, kiwis, bananas mixed with condensed milk and a scoop of ice cream on top! It was shared with three people and we somehow managed to finish it ALL!!! :D Teas: The lady recommended the Lotus tea. Eh, it was ok. The lotus tea was in a tea bag and topped with a few pine nuts. I didn’t feel it was worth $ 3.50. Next time I’ll try the Chrysanthemum that I keep reading people ordered. The Persimmon Leaf, and Ginger tea looked good too. ahhh Too many choices! The Rose tea was SOUR! O_O I’m glad I didn’t get it! haha

Cozy little tea shop. Perfect for a calm, rainy Saturday night with my favorite person. Sure beats the loud and noisy Verde, Tap Ex, or Fantasia where you feel like you need order and leave. There were mostly younger couples and groups of older Korean men and women. The green tea shaved ice with green tea ice cream is quite delicious. There’s all kinds of stuff in it: mochi, jelly, kiwi, strawberry, etc. The green tea ice cream is quite yummy. The green tea shaved ice is 6.50+tax. Good quiet spot to just chill and relax.
