NEVEREVERGOHERE! The owner or whatever is the rudest and has no customer service! I went in and he got my order wrong, when I ordered an additional boba drink, he said he wouldn’t take my card because I was $ 1 short of the credit card minimum. Fine, you will never had to worry about taking my money again. The workers run back and forth between Eller donuts and this shop. Will be writing a review on both.

Lots of meat and more filling than most sandwich places.

I have been here twice the first time was bad but I decided to give it one more chance, big mistake. The smell of chemicals is so prominent it’s enough to give you a headache, the employees have bad attitudes, and they do not respect the announced prices. They were extremely rude and condescending when questioned about the prices. It was overall a disappointing and uncomfortable visit.

The sandwiches are stacked with meat but don’t expect much else. 7 choices. 2 sizes. White or wheat roll only. A few bags of chips. Drinks in bottles or cans only. No sides. Depressing atmosphere. Thai drinks too. It’s a weird combo. Go elsewhere for lunch.

This place has boba so we made a quick stop. Soooo not what I thought it was — a big empty room that looks like a deli but there’s just few random things in the case. The most appealing thing are the canned and bottled drinks. We ordered our boba their options are not many. It took a while to get our drinks and I heard her microwaving stuff in the back. So I wouldn’t eat here. Lady seemed nice but they need to step up their game.

I think this is my first review, but I felt it totally necessary after seeing the negative comments on here. First off, I’ve only had sandwiches here and find them to be delish and loaded. Seriously a small is enough, in my opinion, for one person to be fully satisfied. This sandwich reminds me of deli sandwiches from my childhood. Good ol’ fashioned chewy French rolls, quality meats and cheeses, and classic shredded lettuce, onion, tomato, pickles… and of course mayo and yellow mustard. If you’re looking for gourmet, go to The Blue Owl. If you want a sandwich with an insane amount of meat that will make you sweat, go to Three Pickles. If you want a classic deli sandwich with quality, go to Ye Olé Butcher. Minus one star because it’s not the most cozy place to dine in, but I always get takeout, so I really shouldn’t judge that. Gotta go pick up my sandwich now.

This is the worst sandwich in Santa Barbara and i will never go there again. used to be so good when it was a real butcher shop, but now under new ownership, it’s horrible. We ordered a tri-tip sandwich and were given some other type of meat — looked like the thin strips you get in an asian soup. I only ate half and my stomach worried about it all afternoon.

This place is straight up awkward! I stopped by while waiting for a wheel alignment next door, noticing that they have boba tea. I should’ve known by now though that ANY place in SB that tries to have milk tea will not get it right like a legitimate boba tea store in NorCal or SoCal. It also smells like terrible toxic cleaning chemicals! Bleach central! My plan was to sit in here instead of the tire shop to not inhale all the rubber fumes, but I would say the scent in here is even worse The lady who made it barely seemed like she knew what she was doing. I was the only person in there too and it took her a longggg time to make it. I got the regular milk tea and it was watery/not satisfying. The balls were also mushy and too soft I wouldn’t even trust getting a sandwich made by them… That’s how weird and awkward this place is!

notice all the good reviews are from before 2010. That’s because it is now a Thai food restaurant that also sells sandwiches. This used to be the best«Deli» in town. You could buy nice freshly sliced lunch meats and cheeses and if you wanted… The best sub sandwich you would ever have. Now the shelves are empty and they just sell the sandwiches with cheap lunch meats you can get anywhere. This place died once the sold it. If you have never been when they were actually good, oh man did you miss out! Because the real ye Olde Butcher Shop is long gone.

This place still makes solid sandwiches but is only a skeleton of what it used to be. New owners have stripped it bare and are marketing overpriced drinks like its nobody’s business. Still… nice folks w solid sandwiches… but don’t do for the atmosphere… kinda depressing vs. what it used to be.

Worst sandwich in SB– I ordered a chicken salad sandwich and got a mayo sandwich with a little bit of dry, stale chicken! Advertised as coming with lettuce, tomato, cheese and peppercini but I took it to go and it had nothing but mayo. Never again.

This place is not a butcher house. They sell some meat, sandwiches and drinks. My husband and I were getting our car fixed next to this place and stopped by to have lunch. The lady in the counter wasn’t very friendly and she gave us the wrong order. We asked for tomatoes and no pepperoncini and she gave us the opposite. Also we asked for avocado and even though she said it was there we couldn’t see it. In the other hand the sandwiches were pretty big and had a lot of turkey. The place itself is really plain and boring.

Stopped in a few weeks ago to find a sandwich shop NOT A BUTCHERSHOP. This is really sad, considering that Ye Olde Butcher Shop used to have some of the best meat in town. So if you’re in the mood for a sandwich in a sterile hospital environment with a TV blaring in the background, from some wait staff who aren’t very concerned about seeing you or selling you anything, then here’s your place.

There are new«new» owners now– the folks who own the donut shop– nothing about this place is at all the same as the glory years we all know– when it was a working butcher shop, and amazing sandwitch place, you could harldy get in the parking lot! a sandwitch there would feed you for two days. Now, the butchers and meats are gone, and it is a sad, depressing place with sad, depressing sandwitches. Whitefoot meat market on Milpas, who is getting the boot to open a fresh and easy(a company out of england) tried to buy them out, and bring it back to its former glory, –and was refused! C’mon owners– sell out! It has to be boring sitting around in your empty shop watching T.V.

This isn’t a butcher shop anymore. It’s just a sandwich shop. It’s an okay sandwich shop, but it’s not the place it used to be. And, yes, the ambiance is pretty sterile. And, yes, the t.v. is annoying.

I’ve driven past this place so many times and finally was able to stop in today. I was surprised to find a relatively empty shop without any actual«meats» but a lot of fridges with drinks and deli meats. I ordered a turkey sandwich on a small roll and it was not bad, probably the best $ 7 sandwich that I have had in SB in a while. The low rating is due to that it’s a sandwich, seriously, how bad can you mess it up? the extra star for the nice soft french bread that it came on and to fair, it was a tasty sandwich. I don’t like the emptiness of the place and esp. the TV in the place is rather annoying… I may go back if I happen to be in the area, but I don’t think it’s going to be one of those places I think about unless I see it. Bottom line: a good priced, good sized sandwich.

I stopped in here the other day because I heard that the entire place was different. And it was! What the hell happened to the once mighty Ye Olde Butcher Shop?!? No fresh deli meat? Foster F’n Farms turkey??? You’ve let me down, new owners. And for this, I will never forgive you.

MEATS: Fine choice cuts. Best in the city? Maybe, but at least close… DELI: A bud picked me up a sandwich from this place, it was stuffed with choice cuts of ham, the veggies were crisp too. I tried to go and mix it up a little Italian style, but alas the person thought my comment was some sort of physical challenge, so I’ll save my «Grinder Dreams» for the Italian Grocery — the best deli in the city! I am not a Turkey fan or even a small supporter but I will say that looked like the sandwich to get here.

The Fredericks did not open up Ye Olde Butcher Shop, but they did take possession of the existing shop within the last few years. Ye Olde Butcher Shop has been around for a long time, even being rebuilt from wildfires of years past. Their sandwiches have consistently been the biggest I’ve ever seen in Santa Barbara. Their standard sub is so stuffed with meat and cheese that it feeds me and three friends. I’m glad that the new owners have carried on this generous tradition. But I am saddened that they have culled out much of the«butcher» side to the shop as it seems their main focus is now these enormous sandwiches. I have advocated their tri-tip and steaks for years, but lately I’ve been looking elsewhere for new sources.
