It’s quiet, comfortable and light, the service is usually flawless, with corny diner jokes. It’s changed hands recently and we hope the food stays good. My son likes their salmon dinners. The chili is still really good, not too spicy… BLT really good this evening. They serve a good sherbet that we cannot find in stores. That beef soup that looks inelegant in the photo tasted fine tonight. My elderly parents are regulars — and they are fussy. It’s traditional American food. The coffee’s fine — I read a review by a non-coffee drinker saying their coffee looked too clear. It’s not haute cuisine or trendy.

Had a co-worker take us here for lunch since he claimed it was good and near our office. He said It was Jazzy Time!(Which means it would be a great time and new company favorite) I do have to admit that eating food like this perfectly matched my perception of what it would be like to eat prison food. It tasted horrible and gave you the feeling of being in danger if you took another bite. This was not a Jazzy time moment. The only saving grace was that he paid the bill. We have not allowed him pick a place since this one. The good news for them is that their typical clientele does not know the internet was invented so «new» clients won’t read this.

Friendly service, good food, and nice atmosphere. We had breakfast here and our denver omelet and K special with extra crispy hash browns were on point. Our waitress was efficient and friendly. Another worker goes around with coffee to make sure ours were replenished. Thank you

We came here around 7PM on a Tuesday night for dinner. There were maybe 1 or 2 other groups there, so the restaurant was quite barren. I was a bit wary of this place because of the low Unilocal ratings and the lack of customers, however, my company kept telling me that their roast chicken and drinks are very good. We did not sit by the bar because it apparently smelled like skunk, according to one of our company that arrived at the restaurant earlier. Once everyone arrived, we all ordered from the special menu. The special menu include the entrée, vegetable, side, and a soup or salad. The roast chicken was super dry and the BBQ beef rib were overly saucy. The vegetable turned out to be just bland corn. The fries were not bad despite how they sad they looked. The beef barley soup was fine, though it came out as a mess and dripping everywhere. Our server was really friendly and funny but I do not think I will be coming here again on my own accord. The meal was disappointing and quite expensive and there are a lot of other restaurants nearby that I have yet to try.

We had breakfast here as we were staying in the hotel next to it. The oatmeal was quite boring, the pancakes were fine. It is a bit old fashioned.

Good service but food is not good at all. No taste. We ordered NY steak and asked for well done. But it was not well done and was bloody inside and burned outside. We complained they took it back and brought the same steak more burned but was not well cook at all. I will never come back to eat here.

Well, we have heard about this place from the Tee Off customers as a cool locals bar. hmm. We tried the restaurant as we had an Axess card and thought perhaps we would find a close and reasonable new place for dinner. While I wish to compliment our server on her wonderful service, I must admit the food was mediocre at best. Yuck, actually. Vegetables were corn, despite a request for something green. food really non impressive. Chicken Parm a big fat fried, non tasty slab and no available pepper flakes. Even if I am a bit of a food snob, I still can get by on «comfort food» which is what they call it… but ugh. Really I bet the breakfast is probably ok, but I would NEVER go back for dinner.

Nice people/service. Mediocre food. There are cockroaches. Specifically in the bar so most likely in the kitchen and dining area. There are cockroaches. Been here three times and found cock roaches every time. So my family and I do not plan on coming back.

Ok, I went for breakfast which was tolerable. The service was great mind you. Then I went for lunch. I ordered the jumbo shrimp plate which I was told was a serving of large shrimp. What I got was 4 small shrimp that looked like what you would get from the frozen section at the grocery store. Mind you the dish was $ 23.99. I went next door to the steakhouse for dinner and got the same dish with steak for a $ 1 more. Don’t waste your time or money.

The Treehouse does a good job with breakfast and lunch. I have never been there for dinner. They should think about revising their menu.

I’ve been a couple times, once for breaskfast, which was tolerable, and once for dinner. There were three of us. I ordered the hot turkey sandwich with no gravy. It came out with gravy the first time and the waitress took it back. The second time around… Well it was very clear the turkey had been sitting out unrefridgerated for a long time. I took one nibble and couldn’t eat another bite. I was really glad I hadn’t when I found out one of my dining companions spent the night vomiting after eating the special that night, which was trout. I strongly believe they don’t have safe food practices for keeping meat fresh and I’ve heard from other locals about getting food poisoning from eating here.

So I have been to this place about 2 – 4 times a year since its a favorite of some family I visit in SB. Its your typical American coffee shop feel however the food can vary in quality. Normally its average but can go a little down hill from time to time, but they generally are willing to get you something else. If you like it go back but if you are looking for anything else besides average look elsewhere(you are in SB after all).

I got the tri tip, which was extremely over cooked. The vegetable was just corn. Pretty gross — a giant pile of corn. No one touched it on their plate. Supposedly the club sandwhich was good. I would not go back nor recommend this place, based on the overall meals that everyone received, including myself.

«Can you please hand me my cane?» said the woman in the parking lot?. Her husband replies, «Sure honey, it’s right here on the other side of my walker.» Once inside, you can overhear people talking about their medical problems freely. Not a single discussion about today’s news, gossip, or politics. So when I first pulled up, I almost left. Due to lack of time, and despite not great Unilocal reviews, I decided to go inside anyway. The place is even older than the grandparents inside. Oh well, how bad can it be? I was seated by the window, so at least that was decent view of State Street, Macy’s, and the mall. The menu for breakfast was decent. For $ 9, I went for the eggs and bacon. I ordered their coffee and it tasted OK, like your typical Denny’s would serve. I got my food in 5 minutes. OK, it wasn’t busy, not a good sign, but I was determined to like it. Actually, it wasn’t bad… with 5 strips of bacon, decent hash browns, eggs over medium like I ordered. Then there was the blueberry muffin, instead of toast. It looked fine, chock full of berries, but it lacked enough sugar. The anti diabetes recipe was more hospital food than a fancy bakery, but for the price, it was fine. The waitress was great with the refills, taking my plate when I was done, bringing my check, etc. It wasn’t the best place, but not the worst. I won’t go out of my way to come here, but given the lack of choices to eat at 8AM on this street, I was full and didn’t set sick and have a medical problem myself to complain like the other patrons. Santa Barbara breakfast hangouot for retirees… maybe someday they’ll update their menu, their building, and customers. Nah, never happen.

I love American diners, and this one has all the hallmarks– the owner/host knows the customers by name, the cash register is older than i am. The menu is quick, simple and perfectly cooked. The service was quick and efficient.

Another place my parents frequent for breakfast. Very friendly and fun staff. The servers are pleasant and enjoy serving you. The food is great. It has a lot of large open windows which make this sunny and bright. The food is large portions and very reasonable in price. We went there a few times for breakfast and they were very willing to make substitutions when we requested. I enjoy going here every time I visit.

Like a previous post, I thought the Treehouse Restaurant, next to a Best Western would be decent. MAN was I wrong… There are only two cute things about this place. One is the name, «Treehouse»… ooohhh, so artsy… so safe… so inviting… so wrong(shaking my head no like a two year old)… The other was the old fashion cash register. I haven’t seen something like that in years. I’m thinking like something from the«Gunsmoke» tv show… Old West… 1920’s… that type of cash register. That should have been a warning to me, but I was stuck in the Twilight Zone(cue the music) because I missed all the clues. Clue number one. The inside of this place is stuck in a timewarp from the 1950’s — and that’s not by design like Johnny Rockets. The primary difference is Johnny Rockets is clean. You see where I’m going here? The interior looks like the owners haven’t put one single dime into redecorating the inside. Basically the interior looks like a restaurant in one of those horror movies where you know you shouldn’t stop, but you stop anyway. Well, keep driving. You’ll thank me — and yourself later. Clue number two. I don’t drink coffee, so I ask if you should be able to «see» thru it — should you? I’ve never seen coffee that was so watered down, you could almost see the bottom of the cup. But to have the nerve to pour and serve it like it was completely normal — something is frighteningly wrong with that. Gives me the chills. Try sending it back and getting another one. Whew, do so at your own risk. Clue number three. Our waitress never smiled. Not once. Not even when I thanked her for politely telling me — although I didn’t ask — what the difference was between one thing on the menu and another. That scared me. Clue number four. When you order your food, shouldn’t it look appealing to eat? I mean really. As a kid, even when my mother was mad at me and made my breakfast, she still made it look appealing. The breakfast served was absent any personality — or appeal — and I’m talking about simple sausage and eggs. By the way, my hash browns were cold, but they looked like they were cooked. How does that happen? Nevertheless, I’m sure you get the picture. Needless to say, I’m not a fan. I believe the only way they survive is on unsuspecting tourists from Eastern Europe staying at the BW and on locals who don’t know any better. Do yourself a favor, no matter how warm and inviting BW looks from the outside, the Treehouse out front is a horror movie. There are too many other places to eat, that are«one million times better» in Santa Barbara than eating here. Do yourself a favor, save yourself and go elsewhere.

Deserves an A-OK rating. I only saw one other review for this restaurant and was surprised because it’s right next to the Best Western Peppertree. So it probably get s a lot of customers. The other review panned this restaurant. Looks like that was more than a year ago. Not sure if it’s under different management now, but I had a totally different experience. Great service, kid friendly, and the breakfasts were as good as any other diner I’ve been to. Both times I’ve had the corned beef hash, too, which is a must-have if you like corned beef hash.
