I was a serious need of a haircut last july and is was terrific. I am ‘local’ hope to keep her. The Spa does have a serious issue with returning phone calls… when they do not pick up, the phone goes to voice mail, leave a message for a call back. Currently I am 0 for 3 on the call back plan. There is no excuse for blowing off customers…

I’m revising my review after having a really positive experience /conversation after the fact with the spa manager who contacted me. I greatly appreciated her concern and her interest in wanting every guest’s experience to be flawless. I think I perhaps went on the wrong day. I will definitely give it another try in the future as everything else at Bacara is fantastic. I’m left with a much better opinion now after having had this conversation and it shows that the Bacara genuinely values their guests and their guests’ feedback.

This is my second time visiting the Bacara. Every visit is a slice of heaven. Today I had Lisa Marie as my Massage Therapist and she was incredible. She truly listened and focused on the areas I asked. I left feeling completely rejuvenated. I highly recommend requesting her. I am a typical deep tissue kind of gal and Lisa Marie can cater to your needs. I will definitely be back! :)

The Resort booklet said«world renowned» but really wasn’t. Service was not good: The towel table by the pool had no towels, I had to ask, twice! No hair brush in the shower area, no one by the service desk. I had to go to the front desk and ask for a brush. The shower heads could’ve been better, water pressure was low. All in all, its a small place reminded me of Pasadena Burke Williams. Been to better ones…

My wife bought me a massage for my birthday and I was lucky enough to have Martie as my therapist. I’m an athlete and a career firefighter and needless to say, at 44, I’m a little beat up. Martie was tremendously professional and one of the best massage therapists I’ve had. She definitely knows kinesthetically what’s going on with the human body and really helped me with a right shoulder injury. I will certainly return to Bacara and ask for Martie.

Spent the weekend at the Bacara. Great service and everything was what you expect for the price of the stay. Found it easy to relax in the steam rooms, sauna, and hot tub. The upstairs co-ed lounge was also nice for relaxing with your significant other. I did not have the time during my stay to have a massage or spa treatment. Wish I would have had an entire week to enjoy the facilities. Too bad there is a $ 15 additional charge for using the Spa(steam rooms, sauna, hot tub, showers) this should be included free with the stay.

I had the most amazing and unexpected massage with Mary Jean last week! She had me ultra relaxed within 5 minutes so i was able to enjoy the whole massage. I left feeling blissed out! Very happy with her and the spa! I would love to see Mary Jean again!

Me and the wifey used our Amex credit to get manicures at the spa(my first). Joanna was awesome. Clean environment, great service. Probably ruined me for every other manicure to come. More expensive than most manicures(as I understand it) but great all around experience.

Really bad service with a smile We flew up for our anniversary to enjoy the spa and the ocean view, bad move. Pros: — sound of the ocean and view are great if you stay(no view from spa at all) — Grounds are well kept — spa manager Lana very accommodating after horrible experience but we were out due to all around bad stay and experience at Bacara in total Cons: — no spa service at all(no servers for food by pool or in spa at all, you’re on your own) — bees everywhere on sun deck(had to defend my wife and I on 3 occasions in 10 minutes, we left) — pool is like a pool at a cheap condo complex with a sorry looking lot gathered around it(no luxury at all and no service) — all you hear is traffic from sun deck and the occasional train going by(not classy) with no view at all — had to bring our own champagne up to spa and poor it into plastic water cups(no service at all) All in all never coming back. No clue if massage is good here but pre-massage made it enough for us to walk out and go to four seasons. Don’t even listen to others, four seasons all the way in Santa Barbara.

Unilocalers, I want to be fair and mention that because of my review, the manager reached out, apologized and offered to comp a service on my next visit. I heard from another Unilocaler that the spa was going to undergo a renovation. I’m going to take the manager up on her offer after the said renno. Stay tuned.

Quick update: as much as the fitness center is awesome, the spa experience was so much less. My wife got a 50 min massage which lasted 40 mins and you don’t have the oppty to add the appropriate tip amount as 20% is automatically added. Once we checked out, we realize that they had also $ 200 extra tip to the bill that luckily we caught upon checkout.

Per my wife,(my spa expert), this place was a big disappointment. Just to give you some reference points, her top spas in Ca. includes the Montage Laguna Hills, The Grand Del Mar, Rancho Valencia, and the Four Seasons SB(all 5 stars). This place was given 3.5 stars(falls behind Ojai Valley Inn and Spa and The Lodge at Torrey Pines– 4 stars). Here were the reasons… The facility and treatment were all worthy of 4 stars. The place was big and expansive. However, service wasn’t the best. Their appointments were at 5pm. There were a line of customers and only one receptionist. She looked overwhelmed. No one walked them to the lockers to show them around(big No-No). Next, there were no towels to be found. No one to restocked them either. Finally, no toilet papers in most of the stalls. Big problems for a so call top spa. Finally, my wife got a deep tissue and she is convinced she was given a swedish instead. However to make some ammends, all of this was brought to the manager in the morning and she gave them 25% off their bill… Once again, a tad disappointing for such a nice resort.
