I had Stoneyard provide me with some great slabs of sandstone for my back patio and it looks awesome. They were super nice and gave me some great ideas on overall design, stone color/kind, different options on the edge detail etc. Now every time I look at my patio it makes me happy. They are a great local company that knows what they are doing and they deserve my recommendation. Not only that, but since they have been around for so long they can also provide recommendations to other great service providers should you need some guidance.

Interesting that my two previous Stoneyard reviews(first and follow-up) were removed from Unilocal for no good reason. The first was one star. The second was a correction so I increased my stars to four. I was too kind. This will be my last review. I am back to one star because this is truly what Stoneyard deserves. I bought 18 cubic yards of decomposed granite(DG) from Stoneyard. It is so full of gravel that I truly feel the company has ripped me off. I had to use this DG for a wedding. I was out of time. It was spread about 2″ thick over tarps on dirt. I knew I would be using it elsewhere on my property when the wedding was over. My plan was to dig it up, that’s why it went on tarps. I am now going through a very labor intensive process of separating the gravel from the DG. I am using a 36″ x 36″ screen with precisely 1/8″ holes. It looks like 40−50% of the volume delivered to me is gravel(i.e., cheap filler). I would not buy anything at Stoneyard when they so blatantly cheat their customers.(Btw, I called and complained. They said the gravel makes the DG compact better and offered me a discount on my next purchase as consolation. The truth is that the gravel has a negative effect on compaction and it makes the surface slippery as the gravel wears loose.)
