I’d give them 20 stars if I could! I’m in my early 60s and I’m not kidding when I say my meal at State & Fig is the best meal I have ever had in my entire life! This was our first visit to State & Fig. They have a really beautiful location in the La Arcata Plaza off State Street with plenty of outside seating(much nicer outside than inside) — dog friendly too. Our server Doug brought water for our dog as soon as we were seated. The food was off the charts good! Here’s what we had: Fig Toasts — grilled crostoni bread with fig jam, ricotta cheese with basil(I think), arugula and a lemon-infused olive oil. I could have made a meal on just this! 5 plus stars Herbed Chicken with fingerling potatoes and spinach in this buttery, garlic wine sauce. Very rich and so good. 5 plus stars Chef’s Special of Pan Roasted Scottish Salmon and Shrimp over Cheese Gnocchi with tomatoes, asparagus(I don’t even like asparagus, but I loved this) and this buttery, garlic pesto. Best thing I have ever eaten! 20 stars!!! I want to go back and try everything on their menu and every Chef Special! Our server Doug was perfect, even with his choice of a wine for me… a simple Rose from McIntyre Vineyards. Perfect!

Such a cute restaurant. Not being from the area we looked up a place to grab lunch, we were very happy with the food and service. Would highly recommend it!

Would be a five star if not for last visit. We get their soup here regularly. It’s pricey but made well and delicious. Their sandwich the PBR is pretty good. I enjoyed hat it actually has flavor, as some restaurant aren’t very good at producing that. Last time we came in and tried the fig burger. The burger was pretty good. The fries… Were super over cooked they were harder than chips. We asked for new fries. Our serves said sure, and also said but this is how we always make them. This is why I am giving a 3 star rating. First no you don’t, second its potatoes cook them less time and in less oil and voila! Normal fries. He brought us new fries that were normal, they didn’t have much flavor, but at least we weren’t breaking our teeth. Can’t believe they will bring out what ever and serve it. Bad bad business.

This is one of my favorite lunch spots in Santa Barbara. The food is fantastic, the service is quick, and there are 2 Spanish speaking wait staff that are absolutely amazing(1 male and 1 female). I love their Caesar Salad because the dressing is very light, unlike the thick creamy dressing you would find at most other restaurants. Sometimes they serve it with salmon or scallops. If you are fortunate enough to go on a day where they are serving scallops definitely order them. They are savory and cooked just the right amount of time to disintegrate in your mouth. They smell fantastic(not fishy). They have another great arugula, fig, green apple salad; another one of my favorites. If you like garlic, try their spicy lemon chick peas. Wish they were baked instead of fried, but worth every calorie. I’ve never been there for brunch on the weekends but have heard it is a must. I will definitely plan for that one of these weekends.

If you live that brunch life(as most savvy people do these days), don’t miss State & Fig. Santa Barbara doesn’t lack in terms of options, but this is without a doubt one of the best places to whet your whistle and get your fix of staples and innovative brunch dishes. If you really want the best experience, make sure that you’re served by Liz, as she’s charming, vivacious, and takes care of you as if she was serving you in her home. Do it.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Santa Barbara. I’ve had a few sandwiches, salads, and breakfast foods and they’ve all been great! Plus the prices are incredibly reasonable. Half the time I’m taking home half of my sandwich! Go here!

Big fan of this place. Big fan! My girlfriend and I were able to catch this place right as it opened and there was literally no one else there. I have tried going before but the wait has always been super long. Really luck to catch no wait this time. First off, we got the bottomless mimosas and they poured the champagne HEAVY! THISISTHEWAYITSHOULDBE!!! When I order bottomless mimosas, I want a nice buzz when I leave so I can go shopping and buy silly things and not care until way later. They did a great job of helping me achieve this goal. For entrees, my girlfriend ordered the fig french toast. It was so damn good. I really wanted to steal it from her and eat all of it but hey, I am a great boyfriend. I ordered the short rib eggs benedict and it was so damn good. The pesto sauce was a nice touch on a breakfast classic. Come early and come often.

Had a great brunch here with my husband! I ordered the short ribs eggs benedict and he ordered the fig and blue cheese burger. Both were delicious! I also had a mango mimosa which really hit the spot. Cant wait to go back and try all of the unique items on the menu

Gourmet paninis for lunch menu. The mushroom panini and fennel sausage are delicious. The seasonal salad is excellent. The Brussel sprouts is average. Service is very prompt and courteous.

Made a reservation here for my friend’s birthday dinner since we were spending the weekend in town. Very cute spot with a very cute view outside too! Felt very holiday-like! :) Food: — Warm brie: came with grilled grapes & bread — never had grilled grapes so it was interesting and I liked it. The bread was a little too burnt, but the warm brie definitely made everything better —(Antipasti) Tomatoes, feta, olives, cucumber — very refreshing dish to start off with before our heavy entrees — Brussel Sprouts(small plates): sea salt & garlic aioli? SOLD! Loved the crispiness of each leaf and the flavor wasn’t very heavy so I liked its lightness — Fritto Misto aka calamari: this was my least favorite — nothing special but it wasn’t bad either — Gnocchi: my entrée was delicious! The butternut squash and kale in squash bisque?! I loved it so much! Will definitely order again! — Papperdelle: my friend had this lamb bolognese dish — though I’m not a lamb fan — she killed her dish fast and really enjoyed it as well. I recommend for you lamb lovers! — Pork Chop: grilled porkchop with brussels sprouts and mac & cheese! I will definitely order this dish if I return as well! The porkchop was melt-in-your-mouth juicy and soft! The sides that came with it also topped this dish off! — Short ribs: anything with a hint of truffle wins my tastebuds! The short ribs were super soft and flavorful! Another must-order dish! — Special: Seabass with gnocchi and pesto sauce! — super delish and definitely another item to try! They came out with a complimentary dessert for my friend’s birthday and sang with us as well. This place had such tasty dishes, I definitely want to return!

Tasty brunch spot with many selections of classic egg items(omelets, benedicts) as well as savory lunch plates and salads. I found the place to be pescetarian and vegetarian friendly. The boyfriend and I tried their Bello Benedict with portobello mushroom, arugula and basil pesto hollandaise, as well as their daily special of Prawn and Avocado Benedict. The Bello Benedict was our favorite — very savory and flavorful. The Prawn and Avocado Benedict was an interesting concept but(1) was surprisingly on the blander side and(2) we felt the individual ingredients tasted better on their own than when combined. Both of the Benedict’s came with sides of fruit and potatoes. General pros: Good service, no wait to get seated for Saturday brunch at 11:30, and relatively big space with indoor and outdoor seating. Other feedback: Was hoping to spot a few more sweet brunch options such as their lemon ricotta pancake, but there was only one french toast item on the menu. Also, the Prawn and Avocado Benedict was good but slightly missed the mark in flavor and cohesiveness.

Every thing was surprisingly good here. If you have to get only one thing, my vote would be the short rib, it was amazing!

A great little gem right off the beaten path of bustling State Street. Tucked away in a off shoot walking only street– still plenty of people watching, just a little more laid back. The outdoor tables are lovely if the weather is nice… Which it always is in Santa Barbara!

This restaurant is in La Arcada. We were in a group of 5, and got seated quickly. The service was not great, unfortunately. They were very busy, and we had to wait with empty glasses several times. The food was so-so, not many choices for a vegan. Overall, I’d give it a weak 2 stars. The poor service we got was definitely a bruise on the fig.

Excellent clam chowder. Very sophisticated and complex flavor base yet the delicate taste of the clams still shines through. Recommended. Panini was good as well, though the ham looked like it was processed(maybe it wasn’t, but it had that grocery lunch meat look). Nevertheless it was good. Great service and nice atmosphere and location.

Brunch here is so cute and so yummy. They also offer bottomless mimosas! $ 15(also have pomegranate for an extra charge). My friend ordered the fried chicken and biscuits which were delicious. It wasn’t as doused in the white sauce as I’ve seen in other places and the chicken didn’t taste so greasy as I’ve had before as well. The biscuit is delicious, too. I ordered the pork belly hash with poached eggs, butternut squash, potatoes, fruit, and rye bread(came with jam, butter, and ketchup). Everything was so good and fairly well priced for a brunch place on State. Another thing I like about this café is how it’s not directly on state street, it’s in La Arcada and sort of in this alleyway away from the business of the street. Thus, I feel like this offers a quaint, intimate, and peaceful brunch experience yet it’s very inviting and something I definitely want to bring my girlfriends to for bottomless mimosas! Indoor and outdoor seating is both cute. We chose to sit outdoors because the weather was so nice. My only complaint was our waitress… She was very pushy into having us get alcoholic drinks and doing bottomless mimosas. And after we decided to order one drink(my friend the pomegranate mimosa and the blueberry mojito for me), she kept trying to convince us to order another. I doubt the other people who work there are like her, she said she hadn’t been working there for more than 6 weeks and it seemed like everyone else was very friendly. The blueberry mojito was extremely sweet in my opinion, wouldn’t order it again. Combining the sweetness of the blueberry mojito with the sweet jam and the fattening pork belly was too much for me. I regret ordering the drink; would have rather ordered the dish with a coffee instead. I’m very looking forward to trying everything else on the menu, the burger looked delicious and so did all the other items on their brunch special!

I hate that it has taken me this long to write a review since I was so impressed with this place when I was there 2wks ago! I love everything about this place. It totally has the essence that I love about Santa Barbara from the architecture, a downtown location, close to shopping, great service and the food is spectacular! I ordered the french toast with the fig spread and it was amazing! I’ve found my favorite brunch spot in SB here … At the corner of State & Figueroa. I hope to be back soon for another weekend trip.

Loved this place! We came here for a bachelorette lunch with the girls! I ordered the fig burger and it was perfect! The interior of the café is very vintage and it has a nice ambiance. Patio seating is also available!

We’ve had two dinners here since our daughter started UCSB, and both meals were beautiful. If you like upscale burgers, they have wonderful choices. Several salads and I had a gnocchi with mushrooms which was good. The real treat was the latte after our meal and the beautiful décor, along with a professional and attentive staff. We’ll be back.
