My stay at Welmoet’s place was fantastic. When I arrived, I was immediately made to feel welcome and comfortable. Her home is warm and comfy, and I felt right at home, whether I was getting some coffee in the morning, having breakfast or lunch, or having a glass of wine and chatting with everyone around the kitchen table. The location is great, just far enough from the busy main drag, but an easy walk to get dinner or drinks. I cannot wait to visit again!

This place is fine if you want someplace to sleep. If you want breakfast, cable, or to feel like you aren’t sleeping in your friend’s basement, try someplace else.

We found this place online and requested to see the place a few weeks prior to our wedding and what a delightful surprise we got when we saw how beautiful it was and ended up booking all 3 rooms not just for us but for our parents and bridesmaids too. The inn is a charming place tucked away in a nice quiet neighborhood within a short walking distance of State Street(where all the action is) with lots of street parking. The rooms are quaint, spacious, clean and each had a private full size bathroom. The beds are so comfortable and the sheets luxurious, it was hard to get out of bed early. The owner was very helpful in suggesting places to eat as well as a bakeshop where we can order our cake that would deliver to the reception. When we checked in 2 days prior to the wedding, she told us that we were welcome to use her whole house as well as the balcony and her garden. Even her little chihuahua Jack was accommodating! We were served fresh coffee, cookies and croissant evry morning for breakfast although I didn’t think it was part of the deal. Overall, we felt Home Away from Home and will definitely come back every time we visit Santa Barbara!

There’s no better way to describe it: Staying in Welmoet’s gorgeous craftsman home is truly a gift. If you’re sensitive to the spiritual nuance of a house, then you’ll probably agree it’s akin to a retreat, promising both solitude and community experience, and nurturing a reconnection to one’s self. If you’re lucky enough to be there when others in her family are around, then the experience is redoubled. It’s walking distance to State Street shopping and restaurants. Über to the Funk Zone for a fun day of wine tasting. Come back to a B&B bedroom experience, with private bath, chocolate and candlelight. If there were a six star rating, this house would earn it unreservedly.

I’m not sure how the other reviewer can give these accommodations two stars, it doesn’t seem fair to a proprietor that clearly goes above and beyond to make an experience that is uniquely warm, welcoming and even magical. We stayed at Welmoet’s for our wedding for two nights in late August. My then-fiancée and I were looking for a place to stay in the area that would afford us some comfort and calm during the chaos that is getting married. I can say that we couldn’t have found a better place. The rooms are situated around a beautifully maintained yard and garden with alcoves that go beyond charm to magic. The upstairs deck has a similar space filled that feels cozily secluded and filled with pillows. The first thing you’re struck by is the lovely atmosphere of the place that is truly like nowhere I’ve stayed. Welmoet herself is incredibly accommodating and makes you feel that welcome to make yourself at home. There is a lovely open quality to sharing the spaces with people from all over the world, with the option to get to know them in a communal and relaxed setting. Alternatively, you have a private entrance if that isn’t for you, and in the time my wife and I were running around for our wedding, we opted not to many times and felt afforded a reasonable sense of seclusion and privacy. The details are incredible. Welmoet left candy, a tall pitcher of water and wine in our rooms when we first arrived(the wine may be because she knew we were getting married). In the morning, coffee was served upstairs in a french press. The bed was maybe one of the best I’ve ever slept on. Seriously, I don’t know how beds get that comfortable except maybe some kind of hospitality voodoo. Wifi was provided and worked well, with a desk that I used on several occasions. The décor in the rooms was very unique — clearly an aesthetic of Welmoet herself, one that reflects her as an artist while being all about an atmosphere of comfort and relaxation. I was very impressed at how much she succeeded. Again, I’m not sure why the other reviewer would leave a negative review except that he/she might have been expecting something else. Still, for most people, the accommodations would only exceed most things they could be expecting. I will say that in our room on the ground floor(there are no basement rooms), the light was often ambient as it was not a south-facing room. But this is to be expected at all hotels/motels, and this property is certainly better than most hotels/motels. Truly a uniquely charming property, one that has to be experienced, with the biggest crime being too many pillows.
