I must describe this sandwich store as an old fashion local sandwich shop. The prices are great, the options are vast, and there is just a friendly ambiance all around. I recommend all to stop on by.

Worker seemed upset we were there ordering food making strange sounds and nodding her head left and right Burgers were undercooked I asked for something and she said its there aren’t you looking?! Bad experience with the worker who seemed upset about the boss being on vacation and her having to be there. Edit this is for the milpas location

Turkey and Swiss is great on wheat. Always fresh bread and sometimes aroma of bacon in the oven. Owners and staff are top-notch.

Next time you are thinking about Subway, DON’T. The staff is always very friendly and give great service. The owner is awesome. The food is ALWAYS great. And you get so much more for your money. Real meat(and lots of it). Quality ingredients. My favorite place to get a sandwich.

What a great little spot. We went here based on the high praise from fellow Unilocalers and were not disappointed. I got the 27 and it hit the spot. Bacon. Check. Turkey. Check. Avocado. Check. Soft bread. Yup, that too. The sandwich was the of the same quality as some of the popular sandwich shops in San Francisco, only without feeling rushed and without the long lines. On top of that, the guy who made my sandwich was friendly, funny, and quick. I will definitely stop by next time I’m in town and looking for a quick, delicious meal.

Price isn’t as friendly in my opinion. But customer service is always 5⁄5. There is a groupon deal that most people dont know about! :) Taste is 4⁄5 I always get the California club or the BBQ chicken

My husband and I used to come here when we were in college at SBCC and LOVED their sandwiches. We always got the number 15. We just moved back to Santa Barbara and decided to go back to Sams. The owner was still there– such a wonderful, warm, and welcoming man. The sandwiches were perfect… We had forgotten how much we loved the whole wheat bread! We got a number 15 and number 11. The portions are large and delicious. This place is incredibly delicious! The avocado is fresh and delicious, and you get a good amount of it! Love this place!

Amazing, friendly staff. Delicious, affordable, fresh sandwiches. I’m obsessed! I don’t know why I ever try other lunch spots because this one is delicious. I love how quick, yet yummy it is.

Best cold sandwiches! I get the turkey and cheese and it is so good — better than Quiznos or subway! So friendly too.

This is so much better than subway! I got the veggie with avocado, couldn’t understand the lady who was making my sandwich very well, so I think I accidentally declined mustard. Doh! My only complaint. Otherwise great little shop. We’ll totally stop by again, just more clear on the mustard haha :)

I’ve had these subs a few times delivered for Monday in-office lunch. The size and length of the subs is impressive and they’re very fresh. Though some people are impressed by the subs, I find the quality and taste of the contents are so-so. Definitely suitable for lunch, especially one that you’re not paying for but I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit Sam’s versus other sub shops. That being said I’m sure it’s a great, inexpensive option if you’re looking to feed a crowd and they always deliver on time.

Just a little update here. I still love sams to go and will go again. But I don’t like their hot sandwiches much at all. But the cold ones are still very good. I just tried the BBQ chicken and I do not recommend. It’s the first sandwich I’ve had here that I didn’t particularly like.

My go to spot for a quick wich on the go. Better than subway but in no way on par with a big deli like canters in LA or something like that.

Asked for a recommendation and got the #27 avocado turkey bacon with provolone cheese and all toppings and was not disappointed. Very satisfying.

A small Mom and Pop shop, which are always a little more fresher and a little tastier than the big timers. This has to be one of the best sub sandwich places I have experienced in California. I live in Los Angeles so when I’m in Santa Barbara I always make it a must to come here. Must tries are the Turkey Breast and Tuna Melt subs, be sure to get the works.

A local told me it was just like Togos. NOT! we got turkey sandwiches & pastrami sandwich. The meats were cheap quality and tasteless. My pastrami tasted like it had been rinsed in tap water. The service was fine. The bathroom was disgusting and smelly. I wish it had been better. When you are traveling you hate wasting money on bad food. I go to SB often and will not be back.

i love this place. the owner is pretty awesome. hes friendly and takes his time to speak to u. this can be a slow process but its well worth it. the spot is a true proprietorship and i wish the best for them. since ive eaten here once, i had the hot pastrami n roast beef. the small is a joke. the medium is nine inches. the fam is a two footer and decent width. the bread was delicious. i took the meat out of half my sammich and dbl meated half so that i can eat the soft sourdough roll that was used. the bread was rly rly rly good!!! the pastrami was nice and tender. no extra salt or pepper which made the natural juices thrive. the roast beef was whatever. the spot is small and shares patio with the smoothie place. i like this place and will visit again when im out there in sb. fyi: its on route to the scenic drive that puts u passed shoreline park which is absolute eye porn. santa babizzles is soooo amazing. i would like to live there someday.

Yuummmy sandwiches! Delicious bread! My favorite is the hot Pastrami sandwich with lots of Peperoncini on wheat bread. Combine that with hot barbeque sauce and you’ve got the best sub in the county. My friend raves about the veggie sub: loaded with mushrooms, olives, cucumbers, sprouts, avocado and etc(some of which I forget at the moment). The quality has me going back for more. Best time to go is just before/after lunch, when you miss the rush, but also get yours made by sam himself.

I wanted this to be good, but it turns out it was something between say a Subway and a Togo’s except this is Santa Barbara, where they sort of hate chains but then not really(see not living without a Starbucks). So like a Santa Barbara version of a Subway. Staffed by a(sort of?) comically gruff proprietor. Honestly, in the middle of ringing me up yelled at someone in the back for dropping something and motioned as if to go back there, paused as if to reassess his current situation, shouted back to inquire as to the possible injuries the unseen actor may have sustained in the episode and then without missing a beat gave me the total due.
